Inferior Vena Cava Thrombectomy in a Patient with Antiphospholipid Syndrome - A case report - (하대정맥의 혈전증을 동반한 인지질항체 증후군의 수술적 치료 - 1예 보고 -)

  • A 36-year-old woman with a history of spontaneous abortion and photosensitivity was admitted to our hospital with periumbilical pain and lower extremity edema. The preoperative CT scan revealed massive inferior vena cava thrombus, which extended from the suprarenal portion of the vena cava to the hepatic vein. The laboratory data showed an elevated level of anticardiolipin antibody, which suggested the diagnosis of antiphospholipid syndrome. After medical management, she underwent an operation for removal of an vena cava thrombus by performing cavectomy and thrombectomy. After the operation, she has been taking oral anticoagulation and she is doing quite well at 9 months after her operation.

  • The integrated modular avionics (IMA) system has quite a number of line repalceable moduels (LRMs) in a cabinet. The LRM performs functions like line replaceable units (LRUs) in federated architecture. The video processing module (VPM) acts as a video bus bridge and gateway of ARINC 818 avionics digital video bus (ADVB). The VPM is a LRM in IMA core system. The ARINC 818 video interface and protocol standard was developed for high-bandwidth, low-latency and uncompressed digital video transmission. FPGAs of the VPM include video processing function such as ARINC 818 to DVI, DVI to ARINC 818 convertor, video decoder and overlay. In this paper we explain how to implement VPM's Hardware. Also we show the verification results about VPM functions and IP core performance.

ROI Extraction and Enhancement for Finger Vein Recognition (지정맥 인식을 위한 ROI 검출과 정맥 증강처리)

  • Recently, the finger vein recognition based on NIR and CCD sensor camera is investigating the technology to identify a personal using by biometrics. The performance difference of finger vein recognition is generated according to methods that are to separate the vein and background from noises such as finger thickness, ambient light, skin temperature, etc. To improve these problems, in this study, we are proposing the methods for rotation, ROI extraction, and enhancement of vein image captured by NIR LED and CCD camera, and were evaluated performances of these methods. In results of the experiment, the accuracy of the proposed method for image rotation and ROI extraction was 99.8%. And the proposed filter bank method in vein enhancement has shown better performance than retinex algorithm. The proposed method for results of these experimentations will provide better recognition rate when applied to the preprocessing of finger vein recognition.

Study on Experimental Modeling and Estimation of Roughness of Nanoscale Lapping Surface Based on Laser Scattering Patterns (레이저산란패턴 기반 나노 래핑 표면 거칠기의 실험적 모델링 및 추정에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, a correlation between the roughness of nanoscale lapping surface and its laser scattering pattern has been identified experimentally. The characteristics of laser scattering on a reflected surface are investigated, and a laser scattering mechanism is newly designed by adopting the dark-field method. Laser scattering patterns resulting from nanoscale lapping shape are in the shape of crossed irregular lattice. In addition, optimum laser scattering images are obtained by the design of experiment, and the roughness of nanoscale lapping surface is estimated using regression analysis certain useful features of the laser scattering patterns. The results of fifty experiments on three types of nanoscale lapping surfaces show that the roughness of nanoscale lapping surfaces can be accurately estimated by the proposed mathematical modeling method.

OPTICAL DESIGN OF THE FAR ULTRAVIOLET IMAGING SPECTROGRAPH (원자외선 영상/분광 측정기 광학설계)

  • We present the design specifications and the performance estimation of the FUVS (Far Ultraviolet Spectrograph) proposed for the observations of aurora, day/night airglow and astronomical objects on small satelltes in the spectral range of $900~1750AA$. The design of FUVS is carried out with the full consideration of optical characteristics of the grating and the aspheric substrate. Two independent methods, ray-tracing and the wave front aberration theory, are employed to estimate the performance of the optical design and it is verified that both procedures yield the resolution of $2~5AA$ in the entire spectral range. MDF (Minimum Detectable Flux) is also estimated using the known characteristics of the reflecting material and MCP, to study the feasibility of detection for faint emission lines from the hot interstellar plasmas. The results give that the observations from 1 day to 1 week, depending on the line intensity, can detect such faint emission lines from diffuse interstellar plasmas.

Prediction of Pear Fruit Firmness by Analysis of Laser-induced Light Backscattering Images (레이저 역산란 광 영상분석에 의한 배 경도 예측)

  • The overall goal of this study was to examine the feasibility of predicting firmness of pear fruit by analyzing laser-induced light backscattering images. Thirty-five image analysis characteristics extracted from the laser-induced light backscattering images were used to build partial least squares regression (PLSR) models for predicting firmness of pear fruit. Experiments were conducted with three sets of pear samples which were in same "Shingo" cultivar, harvested in a same season, but produced in different counties. In every experiments with fruit samples produced in a same county, the correlation coefficients of prediction ($r_p$) and root mean square errors of prediction (RMSEP) of the models were 0.550~0.761 and 4.039~6.154 N, respectively. In an experiment with mixed fruit samples produced in different counties, the $r_p$ and RMSEP of the model were 0.669 and 5.02 N, respectively. The experiment results indicate that the analysis of laser-induced light backscattering images could be a useful tool for predicting firmness of pear fruit nondestructively.

  • The concentration and determination of trace phosphate ion was studied by $La(OH)_3$ coprecipitaiton. Phosphate ions in 1.0L samples were coprecipitated with lanthanium hydroxide at pH 9.5 adjusted with ammonia solution. The precipitates were floated with the aid of mixed surfactant(1:8 sodium oleate/sodium dodecyl sulfate) and nitrogen gas bubbles. The floated precipitate was collected in suction flask from the solution. The precipitate were washed with dil. ammonia solution and dissolved in sulfuric acid. The phosphate ion in the concentrated solution was finally determinated by UV/VIS spectrophotometry using the molybdenium blue method. The proposed method could be applied to the determination of phosphate ion in tap water and river water.

과학위성 1호 원자외선 분광기 비행 모형 발사 및 초기 운용

  • 1996년 미국 버클리 대학의 Space Science Laboratory와 공동으로 고온 성간 물질의 관측에 대한 Conceptual Study로부터 시작되어 1998년 과학위성 1호의 주 탑재체로 선정되면서 본격적인 개발에 들어간 원자외선 분광기(FIMS: Far-ultraviolet IMaging Spectrograph)는 Engineering Model 개발, Qualification Model 개발, Flight Model의 개발 및 보정, 그리고 최종적으로 과학기술위성 1호 본체와의 조립 시험 및 환경시험을 거쳐 2003년 9월 26일 러시아의 플레세츠크에서 COSMOS-3M 발사체에 의해 발사된다. FIMS를 포함한 과학위성 1호는 현재 발사를 위해 러시아 현지에 이송되어 최종 시험을 진행 중이며, 발사 후 약 20일 가량은 위성의 운용 시험을 하게 되며, 이후 FIMS의 운용에 영향을 줄 수 있는 Out-gassing이 충분히 이루어진 후 FIMS의 Test 및 초기 운용이 이루어 진다. FIMS의 Detector로 사용되는 MCP(Micro Channel Plate)의 정상적 동작이 확인되면, 1년여에 걸쳐 FIMS의 주 임무인 원자외선 영역(900∼1750')의 은하계 전천 탐사를 수행하게 된다. 전천 탐사가 마무리 되면, 전천탐사의 결과를 바탕으로 개별 천체의 영상 및 분광 자료를 획득하게 되며, 동시에 원자외선 영역의 오로라 및 지구 대기광 측정을 수행한다.

A GUI-based the Recognition System for Measured Values of Digital Instrument in the Industrial Site (GUI기반 산업용 디지털 기기의 측정값 인식 시스템)

  • In this paper, we proposed and implemented a GUI-based system to recognize and record measured values of digital instruments in the industrial site through image processing. Unlike the existing vehicle license plate recognition system, the measured values of the measuring instrument are displayed on the LCD screen as digital numbers. So, the proposed system considers the decimal point, a negative sign, light reflected by LCD protective glass, and various disturbance factors. We used blob-labeling technique to recognize the numbers displayed on the LCD screen, the recognized number images were determined as certain numbers through the template matching, and recognized values were recorded in the storage device with measurement time. Therefore, the proposed system in this paper would reduce the burden of writing when recording the measured values of the inside/outside diameter or height of the product in the industrial site, so effective and errorless process management in production process is possible by preventing errors in recording measurements when written by hand.

A CONSTRUCTION OF A SEMI-AUTOMATIC TELESCOPE FOR ECLIPSE TIMING OBSERVATIONS OF ECLIPSING BINARY STARS (식쌍성의 극심시각 관측을 위한 소형 반자동 망원경 관측시스템의 구성)

  • We constructed the photometric observation system with a small semi-automatic telescope for the systematic observations of eclipse timings of eclipsing binary stars. The system is consisted of a Paramount GT-1100s mount system, a Celestron 14 optical system, and a SBIG ST-8 camera. We developed the OBSTOOL S/W which controls the telescope and the CCD camera using the COM(Component Object Model) supported by the softwares, The Sky and MaximDL. The system performs photometric observations of a variable, comparison and check stars by moving the telescope to the chosen star separately in a similar way such as the method of photoelectric observation. We wrote pert scripts which enable a data handling pipeline for the obtained data to be classified by each of date, object and filter. And thus the images are easily preprocessed using the IRAF S/W package. Eclipse light curves of some eclipsing binary stars observed with this system are presented.
