CPW-Fed π-Shaped Antenna for Wideband (CPW급전 광대역 파이형 안테나)

  • In this paper, we propose an antenna that improves narrow band characteristics which is a disadvantage of inverted-F type antenna and utilizes the structural advantages of small size and low profile by modifying the inverted-F type antenna structure and applying CPW feeding method. Experimental results show that the broadband characteristic of about 40% at the center frequency of 3 GHz is seen, and it is found that the narrow band characteristic which is a disadvantage of the conventional inverted F antenna can be improved. The radiation pattern showed almost omnidirectional characteristics and the maximum gain was about 2.0dBi.

  • In this paper wideband dipole antenna that is usable as PCS/WCDMA/WiBro/WiMax public relay station antenna is proposed. The proposed antenna that designed by using double ring structure improves bandwidth performance of existing dipole antenna to wideband performance. To verify wideband performance and isotropic radiation pattern of the proposed antenna, simulation and fabrication have progressed its radiation characteristic has measured and then compared with calculated result. Measured result is similar to calculated result and has gain of 2dB VSWR of 2:1 over 1.75~3GHz. It is considered that the dipole antenna that designed in this paper can be usable as PCS/WCDMA/WiBro/WiMax public relay station antenna.

  • General microstrip patch antenna has small bandwidth. If corner of a patch antenna is properly cutted to be triangular shape, then input impedance of patch antenna should be varied. Using this characteristic wideband patch antenna can be implemented. In this paper, wideband microstrip patch antenna operating in 2.4GHz ISM band is investigated through tracking variation of input impedance corresponding to cutting shape of patch antenna.

Design of Broadband Cross Monopole Antennas (광대역 십자형 모노폴 안테나의 설계)

  • In this paper, the broadband cross monopole antenna is presented and the radiation characteristics is investigated f3r various width and height of the radiated element. In the presented antenna, the broadband characteristics is realized by the cross monopole element and the impedance matching section between the element and the ground. To conform the broadband characteristics of the presented antenna, the experimental antenna is designed, fabricated, and its radiation characteristics are measured in $1.75\~2.655$ GHz. It is shown that the designed antenna has the nondirectional pattern in the horizontal plane, the directional pattern in the vertical plane, VSSR less than 1.5, and gain in $2.5\~3.78$ dBi. From these results, the presented antenna is conformed as a broadband indoor antenna which can be used for PCS, WCDMA, Wibro, and satellite DMB band.

  • Notch Antenna is a travelling wave type antenna and can provide multioctave operation in phased arrays that scan over wide angle. In this paper, we designed a wideband E-plane phased array antenna using E-plane waveguide simulator which has a bandwidth of 3 : 1 and a scan volume of $\pm$45$^{\circ}$ in E-plane. We compared impedance of single antenna and infinite array antenna using equivalent circuit modeling. We analyzed full structure of 1$\times$9 phased array antenna and we evaluated active reflection coefficient with variation of beam scan angle through mutual coupling coefficient acquired from simulation and investigated the variation of antenna gain with variation of active element pattern as beam scan angle is varied.

  • In this paper, a design method for a compact broadband planar monopole antenna fed by a coplanar waveguide (CPW) is studied. The proposed broadband monopole is optimized for terrestrial digital television (DTV) reception. In order to achieve broadband characteristics, the monopole and ground conductor are gradually tapered. By loading slit pairs on both monopole and ground plane, the proposed antenna is miniaturized. The monopole is fed by a CPW with 75-ohm characteristic impedance on an FR4 substrate and its size is $100mm{\times}200mm$. The optimized monopole antenna for DTV band (470-806 MHz) is fabricated on an FR4 substrate and tested experimentally to verify the results of this study.

Design and Fabrication of Dual-Ring Monopole Antenna for Wideband Characteristics (광대역 특성을 갖는 이중 원형 링 모노폴 안테나의 설계와 제작)

  • In this paper, a double circular ring monopole antenna for wideband applications is designed and fabricated. The proposed antenna is based on a planar monopole design, and composed of double circular ring of radiating patches and ground plane to obtain the wideband characteristics. To get the optimized parameters, we used the simulator, Ansoft's High Frequency Structure Simulator(HFSS) and found the parameters that effect antenna characteristics. Using the obtained parameters, the proposed antenna is fabricated. The fabricated antenna is measured at the operating frequencies, and the return loss coefficient, gain, and radiation patterns are determined. The results of measurement, -10dB impedance bandwidth, measured return loss is 4,530 MHz(2,510-7,040 MHz) and antenna peak and average gains for the frequencies are obtained 0.71~3.38 dBi, -3.85~0.3 dBi, respectively. In case of radiation patterns, the proposed antenna displays nearly omnidirectional radiation characteristics in the E-plane, and monopole-like radiation pattern characteristics in the H-plane.

  • 본 논문에서는 광대역 특성을 가지면서 소형화가 용이한 다중 미앤더 스트립 모노폴 안테나 구조를 제안하였다. 제안한 안테나 구조는 스트립으로 이루어진 수직한 모노폴 안테나를 미앤더 형태로 구부림으로써 안테나 높이를 감소시킬 수 있으며, 구부리는 회수가 증가할수록 대역폭이 늘어나는 특성을 갖는다. 제안한 다중 미앤더 스트립 모노폴 안테나 구조로부터 최근 주목을 받고 있는 UWB 롱신 대역폭을 포함하는 2.9 GHz에서 10.85 GHz까지의 넓은 대역폭과 전방향에 대한 최대/최소 복사이득의 차가 0.1 dBi 이내인 우수한 모노폴 안테나 복사패턴을 갖는 크기 $14 mm{\times}14 mm{\times}14mm$의 광대역/소형 안테나를 설계하였다.

다차원 패턴기술을 이용한 광대역 마이크로스트립 안테나 설계

  • 본 논문은 Wireless LAN 주파수 대역$(5725\~5825\;MHz)$에서의 다차원패턴기술(Photonic Band Gap : PBG)을 이용한 Yagi-Uda 안테나와 결합하여 광대역 마이크로스트립 패치 안테나를 구현 하였으며, PBG Cell을 이용한 안테나와 이용하지 않은 안테나를 비교 분석하였다. PBG 구조를 적용한 안테나에서의 대역폭이 약 30 MHz 정도 더 넓게 나왔으며, 안테나의 이득은 -1dB정도 더 낮게 나왔는데 이는 Ground 면에 2차원적인 PBG Cell을 적용한 효과 때문으로 분석된다.

  • In this paper, a broadband sleeve monopole antenna using a loading coil in sleeve is proposed. The center frequency of the proposed antenna is 1,990MHz. The antenna of the proposed structure has the same of the single sleeve monopole antenna, except for using the coil instead of the inner conductor in sleeve. As a result, it is found that the bandwidth is 1.239~2.154 GHz(above 53.9 %) for $S_{11}=-10\;d B$(VSWR<2), and the antenna impedance is good for a communication system and feeder which the impedance has 50 Ω.
