Dynamic Travel Time Prediction Using AVI Data (AVI 자료를 이용한 동적 통행시간 예측)

  • This paper develops a dynamic travel time prediction model for ATIS in a national highway. While there have been many research on travel time prediction, none of them is for national highway in Korea. The study uses AVI data installed on the national highway No.1 with 10km interval for travel time prediction model, and probe vehicle data for evaluating the model. The study area has many access points, so there are many outlying observations in the raw AVI data. Therefore, this study uses the algorithm proposed by the author for removing the outliers, and then Kalman filtering algorithm is applied for the travel time prediction. The prediction model is performed for 5, 10, 15 and 30 minute-aggregating interval and the results are $0.061{\sim}0.066$ for 5, 10 and 15 interval and 0.078 for 30 minute one with a little low performance as MAREs.

A study on photoreflectance in Fe-doped semi-insulating InP (Fe가 첨가된 반절연성 InP에서 Photoreflectance에 관한 연구)

  • We investigated characteristics of Fe-doped semi-insulating InP by means of photoreflectance(PR) measurement. The band gap energy($E_0$) and broadening parameter($\Gamma$) from PR signals at 300K are 1.336 eV and 11.2 meV, respectively. As the temperature is decreased from 300 to 80 K, PR signals are varied from an overlapped shape of exciton and 2-dimensional band gap transitions(300 K) to that of exciton transition(80 K). We calculated Varshni coefficient($\alpha=0.94\pm$0.07 meV/K, $\beta=587\pm$35.2 K) and Bose-Einstein coefficient ($a_B=33.6{\pm}2.02meV$ , $\theta=165\pm$33K). After annealing of isothermal and isochronism crystallinity of InP is found to be excellent when annealed at $300^{\circ}C$ for 10~20 min, qualitatively.

On-board Realtime Orbit Parameter Generator for Geostationary Satellite (정지궤도위성 탑재용 실시간 궤도요소 생성기)

  • This paper proposes an on-board orbit data generation algorithm for geostationary satellites. The concept of the proposed algorithm is as follows. From the ground, the position and velocity deviations with respect to the assumed reference orbit are computed for 48 hours of time duration in 30 minutes interval, and the generated data are up-loaded to the satellite to be stored. From the table, three nearest data sets are selected to compute position and velocity deviation for asked epoch time by applying $2^{nd}$ order polynomial interpolation. The computed position and velocity deviation data are added to reference orbit to recover absolute orbit information. Here, the reference orbit is selected to be ideal geostationary orbit with a zero inclination and zero eccentricity. Thanks to very low computational burden, this algorithm allows us to generate orbit data at 1Hz or even higher. In order to support 48 hours autonomy, maximum 3K byte memory is required as orbit data storage. It is estimated that this additional memory requirement is acceptable for geostationary satellite application.

Load transfer mechanism due to tunnel excavation in the jointed sandy ground (불연속면을 포함한 사질토 지반에서 터널 굴착에 따른 하중전이)

  • This study is focused on the finding out load transfer mechanism in the ground near the tunnel during tunnel excavation in the jointed sandy ground. Laboratory model tests were performed on various cases of the overburden heights above tunnel crown, location, and degree of discontinuity planes. For model tests, a movable plate was installed in the midst of the bottom of sandy ground. This plate, moving downwards, was intended to model the stress relaxation during tunnel excavation. The load transfer was measured at the fixed separated bottom plates adjacent to the movable plate. As the result, the loosening zone and the load-transfer form around the tunnelling site were affected by the overburden height and the characteristics of discontinuous planes. And large loosening zone was developed along the discontinuous planes which were close to the tunnel.

  • To establish a floating offshore wind turbine simulation model, a tension leg platform is added to an onshore wind turbine. The wind load is calculated by using meteorological administration data and a power law that defines the wind velocity according to the height from the sea surface. The wind load is applied to the blade and wind tower at a regular distance. The relative Morison equation is employed to generate the wave load. The rated rotor speed (18 rpm) is applied to the hub as a motion. The dynamic behavior of a 2-MW floating offshore wind turbine subjected to the wave excitation and wind load is analyzed. The flexible effects of the wind tower and the blade are analyzed. The flexible model of the wind tower and blade is established to examine the natural frequency of the TLP-type offshore wind turbine. To study the effect of the flexible tower and blade on the floating offshore wind turbine, we modeled the flexible tower model and flexible tower-blade model and compared it with a rigid model.

  • CORONA는 미국이 1960년에서 1972년까지 냉전시대 관심지역에 대한 첩보영상을 취득하기 위하여 운영한 영상취득시스템으로 1995년 일반에 자료가 공개됨에 따라 과거의 고해상도 영상자료를 이용할 수 있는 길이 열리게 되었다. 그러나 현재까지 CORONA 영상처리를 위한 모듈을 제공하는 원격탐측 소프트웨어가 개발되어 있지 않기 때문에 CORONA 영상을 이용하여 수치표고모형이나 정사영상을 제작하기 위해서는 적절한 모델링 방법이 필요하다. CORONA 영상은 파노라마 영상으로 필름 가장자리로 갈수록 왜곡이 많이 생기며 사진기 지표가 없고 위성의 궤도와 위치, 자세, 속도, IMC(Image Motion Compensation)에 대한 자세한 자료를 제공하지 않는 문제점이 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 지형복원을 위하여 지상기준점을 이용하는 2가지 모델링 방법을 이용하였다. 첫 번째는 파노라마 왜곡과 촬영 비행체 이동에 의한 왜곡, IMC에 의한 왜곡을 보정하는 모형식을 구성하여 이용하였으며, 두 번째는 위성과 센서에 대한 정보를 필요로 하지 않는 다항식비례모형(RFM; Rational Function Model)을 이용하였다. 대상지역은 서울지역의 입체영상으로 대략 $33km{\times}26km$ 지역이다. 영상은 지상해상도 약 2.7m로 스캐닝하였고 1:1000 수치지도를 통해 20개의 기준점과 36개의 검사점을 관측하였다. 검사점의 위치정확도를 평가해 본 결과 첫 번째 방법은 수평방향으로 평균 3.9m(X), 2.8m(Y)의 오차를 보였으며 표고의 경우 4.2m의 오차를 보여주었다. 두 번째 방법은 수평방향으로 평균 3.2m(X), 2.8m(Y)의 오차를 보였으며 표고의 경우 5.5m의 오차를 보여주었다. 지형복원 정확도를 검증하기 위하여 첫 번째 방법을 이용하여 대상지역 중 일부인 서울 남산지역에 대해 정사영상과 10m간격의 DEM을 제작하였으며 1:1000 수치지도를 통해 제작된 DEM과 비교한 결과 총 43990개 격자점의 표고 차이는 평균 5.98m였다.

Estimation of Acceleration Rates of Bus and Passenger car at Signalized Intersections (신호교차로에서 버스와 승용차의 발진가속도 측정)

  • The maximum and mean acceleration rates of vehicles estimated from the stopping conditions at signalized intersections provided an important clue to analyze traffic accident investigation when there was a dispute about legal liability such as first entering vehicle at the intersection, etc. This paper provided the maximum and mean acceleration rates of vehicles reflecting current traffic conditions in Korea through field studies. The mean acceleration rates of vehicles at stopline were measured up to 50m at the intervals of 5m. Results showed that the mean acceleration rate for bus was found to be $1.011^m/s^2{\sim}1.314^m/s^2$(0.1g~0.13g), and for passenger car was $1.548^m/s^2{\sim}1.818^m/s^2$(0.16g~0.19g). Statistical test results indicated that the observed differences from vehicle types and vehicle positions were statistically significant for the all ranges tested. It is expected that the accuracy of accident investigation practice will be improved by applying the acceleration rate values presented in this paper.

Long-term Runoff Analysis Using the TOPMODEL (TOPMODEL을 이용한 장기유출 해석)

  • Monthly runoff was estimated using TOPMODEL which simulates ground water movement as well as surface runoff in the area of catchment. SAYUN dam which is being operated by Korea Water Resources Corporation was selected for the study, and the topographic factors of the watershed were analyzed using 1/5,000 digital map and GIS software(Arc/Info). The comparison shows good agreement between observed monthly runoff and the computation results simulated by using TOPMODEL. The catchment area of SAYUN dam was modeled by using various grid sizes in order to check the sensitivity of grid size, and the grid size of 180m was found most proper among 6 different sizes. TOPMODEL was also found superior to the existing monthly runoff models such as Kajiyama, KRIHS and Tank. Because the model requires limited number of parameters and considers topographic aspects, it is reckoned to be very useful for practical use.

  • A fully-nonlinear two-dimensional dynamically interfaced nested tidal model has been developed with improved efficiency, usability, relocatability and also adopting different time steps for economizing computational times, which is based on two-dimensional tidal model of Choi(1990) with resolution of $1/15^{\circ}$ inlatitude by $1/12^{\circ}$ in longitude covering the whole Yellow and East China Seas continental shelf. To illustrate the validity and applicability of the present model, numerical model experiment was carried out for tidal distribution in the Yellow Sea and the East China Sea emphasizing the Saemangeum area with enhanced grid system. The results from comparison with observed value showed that the present model gives reasonable agreement. The present modeling system is a relocatable tide forecasting system designed to predict tides at any location within the Yellow Sea and the East China Sea continental shelf sea.

Photoluminescence from silicon nanocrystals in silicon ion implanted SiO2 layers (실리콘 이온주입 SiO2층의 나노결정으로 부터의 광루미네센스)

  • Photoluminescence(PL) properties of $Si^+$-implanted $SiO_2$ film, which was thermally grown on c-Si substrate, is reported. We have compared room temperature photoluminescence (PL) spectra of the samples which was made in several kinds of implantation, subsequent annealing and $SiO_2$ film thickness. XRD data was correlated with the PL spectra. Silicon nanocrystals in $SiO_2$ film is considered as the origin of the photoluminescence. PL spectra was investigated after wet etching of the $SiO_2$ film by using BOE (Buffered Oxide Etchant) at every one minute. PL peak wavelength was varied as the etching is proceeded. These results indicate that the quantity and the distribution of dominant size of Si nanocrystals in $SiO_2$ film seem to have a direct effect on PL spectrum.
