  • 그 동안 사회과학 분야에서의 연구는 논리실증주의의 객관성 중시 사고가 지배해왔다. 그 결과 객관적인 측정과 변수들 간의 관계에 대한 타당성에 중점을 개인간 (interindividual)의 비교에 대한 연구가 주를 이룸으로써 개인의 주관성이 반영되어 나타나는 다양한 자극들에 대한 개인내(intraindividual)의 반응의 차이에 대한 연구가 부진하였다. 사회과학분야에서 중요한 연구대상이 되는 인간의 독특성은 바로 개별 주체들이 가지고 있는 주관성에 있다고 해고 과언이 아닌데 실증주의자들이 사용해 온 계량적 접근방법으로는 인간의 본질적 속성인 주관성에 대한 연구에 한계가 있다. 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해 Q 방법의 방법론적 특성과 실제 적용에 대해 알아본다.

  • 이 논문에서는 접근성 있는 리치 인터넷 애플리케이션을 구현하였을 때 우리나라에서 입수 가능한 화면 낭독 프로그램이 이들 리치 인터넷 애플리케이션의 접근성 기능을 충분히 지원하는가를 실험을 통하여 파악하였다. 실험 결과, 미국 Freedom Scientific사의 JAWS for Windows 10.0 한글판이 실험에 사용한 모든 애플리케이션의 접근성 기능을 지원하였다. 그러나 국산 화면 낭독 프로그램은 개발 환경에 따라 접근성 지원 기능이 떨어지고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다.

  • 이글은 재미과협 회보 Vol.6 No.3에 게재된 이동녕 박사의 글을 옮긴 것이다. 이글은 조국의 기초과학의 침체성을 지적하고 있다. 응용과학에 치중되어 기초과학이 균형을 잃고 있음을 보아온 이박사의 제언에 눈길을 돌려야 할 것이다. 점차 기초과학에 관심을 갖는 이즈음 촉진제가 되리라 믿는다 실은 제 4차 경제개발 5개년 계획에 기초과학육성이 계획되고 있어 위기의식까지는 기우일지 모르나 긴 안목의 과학발전을 위해서는 주목될 만한 글이다.

한국에서 일하는 외국인 과학기술자 - 한국표준과학연구원의 폴란드 과학자 '리자드 브로다 박사'

  • 한국의 우수두뇌유치 프로그램에 의해 지난해 2월부터 한국표준과학연구원에서 근무하고 있는 폴란드 과학자 리자드 브로다박사는 현재 베타방출핵종을 액체섬광계수방법으로 표준화하는 연구를 수행하고 있다. 그가 재직중인 폴란드방사성동위원소센터와 한국표준과학연구원 방사능그룹은 동시계수를 이용한 방사성 핵종의 표준화 등 비슷한 내용을 연구하고 있으므로 계측문제를 함께 풀어나가면서 훨씬 빠른 발전이 이루어질 것이라고 내다보았다.

Exploring Ways to Improve the First Major Area of the Examination for Appointing Secondary Science Teachers with the Change of Educational Environment (교육환경 변화에 따른 중등 과학교사 임용시험의 1차 전공영역에 대한 개선 방안 탐색)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the teacher expertise to be evaluated in the secondary science teacher employment test (TET, hereafter) in order to respond to changes in educational environments including the transition to competency-based curriculum, and ways to improve the first exam in major areas in the current TET. For this purpose, Delphi surveys and in-depth interviews were conducted with 18 professors of science education who have experience in the TET. According to the research results, teacher expertise such as subject teaching, student understanding, intelligence information utilization, community competencies, and so on were suggested. Ways to improve science content exam in the TET include securing fairness and validity by increasing the number of questions, strengthening the connection with the secondary school curriculum, updating assessment areas for certificate subjects periodically, etc. Ways to improve science education exam in the TET include research and development on the types of science education questions, introducing essay test to science education exam, development of a standardized curriculum on science education, etc. Based on the research results, the necessity of revising the curriculum for teacher training colleges, differentiating curriculum between teachers' colleges and natural science colleges, and reforming the teacher training system by introducing graduate school of education were suggested.

An Analysis of Science Magazine in the View of Infographic (인포그래픽 관점을 이용한 과학 잡지 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the Korean science magazine, Science Donga providing scientific facts, phenomenons, and issues with infographic for the readers by time series analysis and to search for the application of infographic on the science education. The criteria for the infographic analysis of Science Donga consisted of three categories such as storytelling type, visual perception, and framework level because infographic presents complex information quickly and clearly by integrating various images, words, and graphics. We found that the articles emphasized by including image about science issue have been published from 1986 to 2014. Particularly, after 2008, the articles including infographic sharply rose. So we set up 2008 as $T_c$(Critical time point). The articles including infographic after 2008 have been more variously distributed and frequently used in storytelling types category such as location, time, number, connection, function, and process based infographic, in visual perception of Gestalt Theory such as proximity, similarity, continuation, and closure than before 2008. Lastly, in framework level category, location, time, number, and process based infographic mainly had total range level but function and connection based infographic changed in the framework level. The three features about storytelling type, visual perception, framework level are important changes to influence $T_c$ in the infographic analysis about Science Donga. Through the results of this study, we analyzed the feature of change on infographic from 1986 to 2014. Thus, we hope that the results suggest a basic criteria for making materials including infographic in science education.

The Effects of the Number, Ratio of Advanced Courses, and Variety in Science Elective Subjects on the Growth of High School Science Course Students' Attitude Towards Science (고등학교에서 과학 선택 과목의 수, 심화(II) 과목 비율, 교과 다양성이 이과 학생의 과학에 대한 태도 성장에 미치는 효과)

  • We fitted latent growth models of attitude towards science using the Korea Education & Employment Panel 2004-2007 data with 343 high school students. The growth model show better fit indices compared to the no growth model. The intercept and slope showed significant variances, and thus, we added control variables of the number, ratio of advanced courses, and variety in science elective subjects, and the achievement percentile for middle school. In the conditional growth model, the previous achievement has significant positive effects on the intercept and the ratio of the advanced courses and variety of science subjects show significantly positive effects on the slope. Based on the results, it supports the 2022 Revised Science Curricular that high school credit system should provide students with basic 'Physics,' 'Chemistry,' 'Biology,' and 'Earth Science,' credits in 'general electives', various integrated subjects in 'converged electives', and highly advanced subjects in 'career electives.'

Relation Between Degree of Consistency of Elementary Students' Preconceptions on the Brightness of Electric Bulb and Their Cognitive Conflict (전구의 밝기에 대한 초등학생들의 사전개념 일관성 정도와 인지갈등 정도와의 관계)

  • This study was to investigate the elementary students' preconception on the brightness of electric bulb and degree of consistency on their preconceptions. Participants were 160 students of fifth graders in Seoul area. They had already teamed about the brightness of series circuit and parallel circuit of batteries. After they solved six problems in the same context, we provided them a pair of circuit which was an anomalous situation. And then they conducted CCLT (Cognitive Conflict Level Test). Elementary school students showed various preconceptions when they explained the light of bulb of two Simple electric Circuits. Many Students Consistently Showed the Scientific misconceptions like 'the light of bulb of two simple electric circuits was that the more batteries and the fewer bulbs were brighter.' The level of consistency that students presented scientific misconceptions was grouped all of four, such as 'high, middle, low, and nothing.' Therefore the higher scientific achievement they have, the higher consistency they have. As the students had high consistency level, they revealed high cognitive conflict level significantly. This high consistency will help them to change their preconception on the brightness of electric bulb and their cognitive conflict.

Nematode-Trapping Fungi Showed Different Predacity among Nematode Species (선충 종류별 4종 포식성곰팡이의 포식력 차이)

  • Nematode-trapping fungi develop trap and consume nematodes are an important part of the subsoil ecosystem and they share a special predator-prey relationship. Four nematode-trapping species, there with adhesive network, Arthrobotrys oligospora, A. sinensis, A. thaumasia and one with constricting ring, Drechslerella brochopaga were collected from soils in Korea and tested their predacity against 12 different nematode species. They were three feeding groups, plant-parasitic (Meloidogyne incognita and Pratylenchus penetrans), fungivorous (Aphelenchus avenae), bacteriovorous (Betlerius sp. and Diplogasteritus sp. in diplogasterid, Panagrolaimus labiatus, P. multidentatus in panagrolaimid, Mesorhabditis irregularis, Pelodera strongyloides and Rhabditis sp., in rhabditid, and Acrobeloides sp. in cephalobid). Results showed that nematode-trapping fungi successfully captured most of nematodes in Petri dish in the group of plant-parasitic nematodes and rhabditids, moderately and variably in other nematodes in 15 days. But it didn't captured A. avenae and Acrobeloides sp. both belongs to c-p group 2. Numbers of Acrobeloides sp. and A. avenae even increased during the test period. The results of this study indicated that nematode-trapping fungi may have specificity among nematode species.
