An Exploration For Future Emerging Technologies by Science Mapping and a Dynamic Portfolio Setting for Government R&D Strategy (과학지도 작성을 통한 미래기술 발굴 및 정부R&D의 동적 투자방향성 설정 연구)

  • Korean government built "2040 Science and Technology Future Vision" in order to show positive future scenarios and suggest a long-term guideline for a progress in science and technology. The S&T Future Vision was built based on an analysis of global megatrends and a prospect of domestic social change. After building S&T Future Vision, the "Government R&E Strategy"s was established as a follow-up action plan. The Government R&D Strategy consists of lists of future emerging technologies for future leadership, government R&D investment status and investment portfolio plans. Exploring future emerging technologies aggressively and making a governmental R&D strategic policy are requirements for national competitiveness, leadership in the world. Therefore search and selection for future emerging technologies is getting more and more important recently. Generally qualitative methodologies have been used such as expert-panel discussion method and portfolio analysis with expert valuation method in order to explore future technologies. These experts-based qualitative methodologies are well defined but lacking in some objectivity because size of expert-panels has limitations. We suggest a quantitative methodology, science mapping method to compensate this shortcoming in this study. There is another limitation related governmental R&D strategy which is that general R&D portfolios are static until a point of technology realization. We also propose a dynamic R&D investment portfolio which present different portfolios at a intermediate point and a point of technology realization. We expect this try with science mapping method and a dynamic R&D portfolio could strengthen strategic aspect of government R&D policy.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the information service and the design of the information system of LG Science Land and NSDL which was designed as Integrated Information System in Science Digital Library for youth. After that, the requirement and inclination of the system user was analyzed through on-line questionnaire and finally the Subjective-Oriented Directory System was modified in detail as improvement issue of the system. This study has a significance in designing a user-friendly information environment that the youth can access information in science more conveniently and Proving the efficiency of it.

  • The 7th science curriculum has the characteristics of humanistic philosophy of education. The humanistic curriculum emphasized learner-centered education, which claims to stand for learners' experiences. This study searched for the significances of the 7th science curriculum, and discussed its tasks and perspectives based on the backgrounds, characteristics, and objectives mentioned in the history of reforming science curriculum. The 7th science curriculum emphasizes learners' experiences and everyday life materials are favored in teaching-learning activities. For the desirable effects related to this commitment, pre-service and in-service training programs are required about the social elements in the nature of science, and everyday life contexts should be examined in views of educational and cognitive perspectives, so the contextual differences between science and everyday life should be clarified.

Secondary Science Teachers' Views on Science and Learning (중등과학교사들의 과학관과 학습관)

  • Using a sample of 83 secondary school science teachers, this study investigated the views on science and learning which they have. Questionnaires used in this study were the same that Kwon & Pak(1995) administered. Both 'Questionnaire for Perception of Nature of Science' and 'Questionnaire for Constructivistic Views of Learning' were 11-point scales. Data analyses were done by using t-test and ANOVA. The secondary science teachers showed a relativistic, deductivistic, instrumental, and process-oriented views on science. The younger age of the teachers, the more emphasis on process rather than content. Female teachers had more relativistic, instrumental, and process-oriented views than male teachers had. The teachers sampled in this study showed a constructivistic view on learning. Finally, the teachers' views of science and learning were closely related each other.

  • 이 논문에서는 과학기술분야 특화 한국어 사전학습 언어모델인 KorSciDeBERTa를 소개한다. DeBERTa Base 모델을 기반으로 약 146GB의 한국어 논문, 특허 및 보고서 등을 학습하였으며 모델의 총 파라미터의 수는 180M이다. 논문의 연구분야 분류 태스크로 성능을 평가하여 사전학습모델의 유용성을 평가하였다. 구축된 사전학습 언어모델은 한국어 과학기술 분야의 여러 자연어처리 태스크의 성능향상에 활용될 것으로 기대된다.

  • 과학 데이터는 대부분 과학 시뮬레이션의 결과로 얻게 되며, 사람이 직관적으로 이해하기 어려운 숫자의 나열인 경우가 많다. 이런 수치 데이터를 가시화하면 보다 쉽게 이해해서 분석할 수 있는 형태가 갖춰지게 되며, 가시화 환경을 VR 환경으로 옮기면 사용자와 상호작용하면서 사용자가 원하는 형태로 데이터를 가시화하는 것이 가능할 뿐만 아니라 몰입형 환경 덕분에 데이터에 대한 이해도도 높일 수 있다. 그러나 VR 환경의 시스템적 한계와 다양한 가시화 알고리즘에 대한 필요성 때문에 VR 환경에서 과학 데이터를 가시화하는 데는 한계가 있다. 본 논문에서는 VR 환경에서 과학데이터를 가시화하는 프레임워크를 제안한다. 이 프레임워크는 VTK에 기반을 둔 애플리케이션인 ParaView를 활용함으로써 과학데이터를 가시화하는 알고리즘을 제공하며, VTK와 CAVELib을 기반으로 하는 VtkCave를 활용해서 시스템에 맞는 VR 인터페이스를 제공한다. 향후에는 이 프레임워크에 보다 다양한 인터페이스와 가시화 기법을 더해서 풍부한 서비스를 제공할 수 있도록 할 예정이다.

Validity of giftedness based on clusters (영재성 요인의 분야별 타당화 연구)

  • The purpose of the present study is to examine implicit capabilities of giftedness by Korean adults and to validate the features of giftedness by asking the gifted students in science, liberal arts, and ordinary. Existing researches have problems as follows; they will make a high error when we distinguish gifted students who applied to various changeable conditions because they only use total score without their sub-attributes and because they designed from the viewpoint of age. And they are difficult and complex for students to understand. This study is composed of two parts, Study 1 and Study 2. In study 1, we examined and analyzed the Korean's implicit concept of giftedness to 328 adults. In Study 2, the features of the Koreans' implicit concept for giftedness were validated to 1154 students in science, liberal arts, and ordinary. Giftedness features and patterns were identified by factor analysis. In the last place, we suggested the distribution of T-value scale for each feature of giftedness.

The Structure and Conceptual Changes of Preservice Secondary Teachers' Alternative Conceptions on Radioactive Isotopes (예비 중등교사들의 방사성 동위원소에 대한 대안개념의 구조와 개념변화)

  • This study was aimed to understand the structures of preservice secondary school teachers' alternative conceptions on radioactive isotopes in the interior of earth. The structure of their conceptions were analyzed by the suggestions of Niaz (1988) based on the Lakatosian frameworks. The survey was carried out on a group of seventeen students who were major in science education. The research method was open-ended written questionnaire. The results of this study show that students had apparent alternative conceptions. The high temperature and pressure' explanation for radioactive decay in earth's interior had most import effects on their alternative conceptions. It was also intended to survey their conceptional change by our teaching strategies of the philosophy of science in order to construct science concepts.
