Development of Passenger Forecasting System to Improve the Service for the Passenger in the Terminal Building (여객 서비스 개선을 위한 승객예고 시스템 개발)

  • The time required for airport process is considered more important as the airports are becoming bigger. International Civil Aviation Organization mattes this international standards and recommends not to exceed it. The passenger forecasting model is developed to predict the number of passengers at the check-in counter, and the area of formalities for departure and entry. In case of forecasting the number of outbound-passengers. the patterns of show-up lead time(SLT) at the check-in counter and lag time from check-in counter to the area of departure formalities are modeled in terms of time. On the other hand, the matter of the choice of check-in counters and areas of departure formalities are modeled in terms of space. In case of forecasting the number of inbound-passengers and transfer passengers, the time of airplane movement from arrival to block on at the gate and the time of passengers required from gate to the area of formalities for entry are modeled in terms of time. While the matter of the choice of gates and the areas of formalities for entry are modeled in terms of space. The average error of forecasting outbound-passengers and inbound-passengers is respectively 15% and 10%, which are considered excellent with the 5% error of passenger reservation information as input data. Through the development of passenger forecasting models, we assure we could provide passengers with valuable service because we allocate resource such as employees and equipments according to the degree of concentration of passengers.

A Research on the Relationship between Duty Free' Locations and Sales of its Product Attributes at Airport : a Case of Departure and On-Arrival Duty Free at Incheon International Airport (공항 면세점 위치와 판매품목별 매출액 간 관계성 연구: 인천국제공항 출국장 및 입국장 면세점 사례를 중심으로)

  • On-arrival duty free will prevent Korean outbound passengers from keeping the duty free items they purchased at the departure during their travel. Most Korean tourists have requested the airport authority to install on-arrival duty free since the grand-opening of Incheon int'l airport. Considering the fierce hub airport competition in the North East Asian region, the Korean government's decision to install on-arrival duty free is regarded as a well-timed intervention. The purpose of the research was to analyze sales correlation based on a comparison of sales of both departure and on-arrival duty free and to propose an administrative implication. Compared to business conglomerates running departure duty free, on-arrival duty free operators, who are small or medium companies, have weakness in product composition, marketing, and merchandising capabilities. According to the analysis, outbound passengers, who purchased fashion accessories and leather products at the departure duty free, tended to purchase cosmetics/perfume or liquor on the arrival duty free. Such complementary purchasing behavior of passengers showed there is barely a negative correlation between departure and on-arrival duty free.

  • With the growth of airline management, as well as computer and IT security, the international trade in this modern society has been rapidly increasing, Along with the advancing, airplanes have become a universal means of communication. However, the complications associated with airplane safety have also been brought up as a result, the most concerning of which is terrorism. One of the main counterplans for preventing terrorism is Ground security activities the core of Ground security activities is absolute safety for passengers in both passenger terminal and freight terminal. Subastral security refers to physical protection, proximity control and 100% security search and freight guarding of the passengers' possessions, and the personnel's duties to perform such jobs are be! coming more crucial. On the other hand, Airport security check has bee n gradually developing since the 1960's, when hijacking began to take place. Although the airports have been providing more safe and comfortable services to their customers, terrorism is still happening today. When Ground security activities is minute, the users feel displeasure and discomfort, yet considering solely their convenience can brings problems in achieving safety. Since the 9.11 terror in 2001, the idea of improving and strengthening airport security was reinforced and a considerable amount of estate is being spent today for invention and application of new technology. Various nations, including the United States, have been improving their systems of security through public services; public police department is actively carrying out their duties in airports as well. In San Francisco International Airport, private police department is in charge of collection of data, national events, VIP protection, law enforcement, cooperation within facilities, daily-based patrol and traffic control. Under guidance and supervision of national organizations, such as TSA, general police department interprets X-Rays, operates metal detectors, checks passports or IDs and observes reactions to explosives. Under these circumstances, studies about advancement of cooperation and duties of general police department and private police department necessitated: especially about private police department and their training for searching equipments, decrease in number of turn over rate, invention of technology and prior settlement in estate for security. The privacy of the public, who make up the major population of airport passengers, must also be minimized. In the following research, the activities of police departments in San Francisco International Airport will be analyzed in order to understand recent actions of the United States on airport security.

텔레바이오인식기반 비대면 인증기술 표준화 동향

  • 바이오인식기술은 사람의 지문 얼굴 홍채 정맥 등 신체적 특징(Physiological characteristics) 또는 음성 서명 자판 걸음걸이 등 행동적 특징(Behavioral characteristics)을 자동화된 IT 기술로 추출 저장하여 다양한 IT 기기로 개인의 신원을 확인하는 사용자 인증기술이다. 2001년 미국의 911 테러사건으로 인하여 전 세계 국제공항 항만 국경에서 지문 얼굴 홍채 등 바이오정보를 이용한 출입국심사가 보편화됨과 동시에 ISO/IEC JTC1 SC37(바이오인식) 국제표준화기구를 중심으로 표준화가 급속도로 진행되어 왔다. 최근 들어 스마트폰 테블릿 PC 등 모바일기기에 지문 얼굴 등 바이오정보를 탑재하여 다양한 모바일 응용서비스를 가능하게 해주는 모바일 바이오인식 응용기술이 전 세계적으로 개발 보급되고, 삼성전자 페이팔 중심으로 바이오인식기술을 이용한 모바일 지급결제솔루션에 대한 사실표준화협의체인 FIDO, ITU-T SG17 Q9(텔레바이오인식) 국제표준화기구를 중심으로 표준화가 진행되고 있다. 특히 이러한 모바일 바이오인식기술은 스마트폰을 통한 비대면 인증기술 수단으로서 핀테크의 중요한 요소기술로 작용될 전망이다. 한편, 위조지문 등 전통적인 바이오인식 기술의 위변조 위협으로 인한 우려도 증폭됨에 따라 스마트워치 등 웨어러블 디바이스에서 살아있는 사람의 심박수(심전도), 뇌파 등의 생체신호를 측정하여 스마트폰을 통하여 개인을 식별하는 차세대 바이오인식기술로 진화중에 있다. 본고에서는 바이오인식기술의 변천사와 함께 국내외 모바일 바이오인식기술 동향과 표준화 추진현황을 살펴보고, 지난 2015년 5월 29일 발족한 KISA "모바일 생체신호 인증기술 표준연구회"를 통하여 뇌파 심전도 등생체신호를 이용한 차세대 바이오인식 기술 및 표준화 계획을 수립하여 향후 바이오인식기반의 비대면 인증기술에 대한 추진전략을 모색하고자 한다.

A Method for Determining Face Recognition Suitability of Face Image (얼굴영상의 얼굴인식 적합성 판정 방법)

  • Face recognition (FR) has been widely used in various applications, such as smart surveillance systems, immigration control in airports, user authentication in smart devices, and so on. FR in well-controlled conditions has been extensively studied and is relatively mature. However, in unconstrained conditions, FR performance could degrade due to undesired characteristics of the input face image (such as irregular facial pose variations). To overcome this problem, this paper proposes a new method for determining if an input image is suitable for FR. In the proposed method, for an input face image, reconstruction error is computed by using a predefined set of reference face images. Then, suitability can be determined by comparing the reconstruction error with a threshold value. In order to reduce the effect of illumination changes on the determination of suitability, a preprocessing algorithm is applied to the input and reference face images before the reconstruction. Experimental results show that the proposed method is able to accurately discriminate non-frontal and/or incorrectly aligned face images from correctly aligned frontal face images. In addition, only 3 ms is required to process a face image of $64{\times}64$ pixels, which further demonstrates the efficiency of the proposed method.
