According to the demands of the times, Inchon international airport railroad opened up step by step but It is situation that much government subsidies are paid because It does not competitive power with road traffic by decline of schedule speed. Inchon international airport railroad users will convert by other transportation and minimize damage their time as travel time is prolonged. Therefore, need high speedization of airport railroad, this may act big role competitive power security as well as airport railroad activation with another public transportation. Thus, this paper suggests that a high speedization possibility section in the sections of airport railroad and train speed elevation effect analysis by roadbed, railroad, system improvement and the most efficient operation intervals analyzing each vehicles (AREX (120km/h), KTX (230km/h), EMU(Electric Multiple Unit, 180km/h) train running pattern.

With the hubbing strategy, construction of "Incheon Airport Railroad(AREX)" was proceeded to expand the accessibility at the level of airports in rivalry like Kansai and Chek Lap Kok. At the present 1st phase which routes from Incheon Airport to Kimpo Airport is opened March 2007. 2nd phase which is planned from Kimpo Airport to Seoul station will be opened at the end of October 2010. But the accessibilty to AREX is delinquent because it is connected only in Seoul station and the maximum operation speed is 110km/h which downgrade the time competitiveness with airport limousine. In addition, transfering of user is necessary to access to AREX from Kyungbu KTX. With these reasons, travel demand in 1st phase section is low(7%). According to reestimation of travel demand, demand analysis result compared with convention condition is insufficient, so required annual average government grant-in-aid amounts to 200 billions won, and it is right time to develop the method for revitalization of Incheon airport railroad. In this paper, facilities plan and operating plan to make new travel demand by speed-up which is able through substitution train now running with high speed train(EMU, 180km/h) and direct connection of KTX, will be suggested. This will contribute to offering high speed railroad service to customers and the reduction of government grant-in-aid by way of demand expansion.

It becomes to make its necessity of getting more closer approach for the design and the detailed analysis of implementation method and study with respect that the plan is put into shape for the interconnection between Seoul Line No.9 and the AREX line which has been on commercial running since it had been opened on March 2007. We introduce the concrete analysis and the rasied problems and a way how to solve as well for the characteristics of interconnection train and signaling 시스템tem structure between two lines in order to design and implement the interconnection running. ccording to the airport railroad linkage facility expansion project constructing a connecting line to the airport railway and improving the signal system and Gyeongui Susaek Station, a high-speed train is able to run directly from Gyeongbu and Honam to the airport railway. According to mixed operation of high-speed Korea Train Express (KTX) and Airport Railroad Express (AREX) trains, to establish ERTMS/ETCS L1 ATP to operate the KTX train, the signaling system of the AREX train is the same as the existing ATC/ATO, but its operation became impossible because the high-speed train causes mutual interference between the "high-speed train (KTX) and AREX ground signaling equipment" and between the "AREX train and KTX (high-speed train) ATP ground equipment." Thus, it was necessary to have a supplemental technical interference analysis comparing the characteristics of the AREX beacon and the KTX balise. So, we resolve the problems of mutual interference between the "high-speed train (KTX) and AREX ground signaling equipment" and between the "AREX train and KTX (high-speed train) ATP ground equipment" with a test using an actual train, and we confirm the technical validity with three types of test module.

Seoul Metro Line 9 (SML9) will link Gimpo Airport to the Gangnam district opening in May 2009. SML9 has a new model in Korea constructed by metropolitan government and private company and operated by specialized public transportation service provider. SML9 is confronted with tough environment of stagnated public transportation and strong competitor, Olympic city expressway. Consequently SML9 must lead the maximum efficiency by using its material and human resource. Hereupon, I propose renovation plans from 3 viewpoints of operation field of SML9: Rapid-Local combination, close connection with other transportation and direct connecting service into Incheon Air-port Railroad(AREX).

The Incheon International Airport Express(I'Rex) is the railroad that connects Incheon International Airport, Gimpo Airport and Seoul Station. I'Rex is now under construction, and it will be connected to Gimpo Airport by 2007, to Seoul Station by 2010. However, there has been no discussion on how th connect different routes of railway Systems. Therefore it seems likely that rail passenger demand will be lower than that of limousine bus. Therefor, this paper proposes 4 effective connecting methods for I'Rex - (1) Shuttle transport, (2) Short-distance connecting transport (Inside I'Rex, Seoul Subway Line 9, 'Han-River line') (3) Mid-distance connecting transport (Jung-ang, Tae-baek, Young-dong line) (4) Long-distance connecting transport (Korean Train Express (Korean high speed railroad)) These methods can increase the connectivity of I'Rex with existing railroads and the competition power of I'Rex against a highway.
