  • This study involves a Common Cause Failure (CCF) problem on the ultra-high reliability required system development such as war game operations, nuclear power control, air traffic control, space shuttle missions, and large scale network communication system. The system situation problems are defined according to CCF, reliability and system fault identifications for the development cast verifications in the multi-version redundant software system. Then, CCF analysis of redundant system, system principles and statistical dependence are also described. This validation oh the CCF in the human software interaction system will notify software engineers to conceive what really is CCF contribution factor, not only the internal but the external ones.

  • Bayesian networks have been used in studying and simulating causal inferences by using the probability function distributed over the variables consisting of inquiry space. The focus of the debates concerning Bayesian networks is the causal Markov condition that constrains the probabilistic independence between all the variables which are not in the causal relations. Cartwright, a strong critic about the Bayesian network theory, argues that the causal Markov condition cannot hold in indeterministic systems, so it cannot be a valid principle for causal inferences. The purpose of the paper is to explore whether her argument on the causal Markov condition is valid. Mainly, I shall argue that it is possible for upholders of the causal Markov condition to respond properly the criticism of Cartwright through the continuous causal model that permits the infinite sequence of causal events.

  • In this review article, the meanings of the somatization phenomena were reviewed and discussed in terms of cultural psychiatric view point. The somatization is an universal psychopathology. But frequency, pattern of symptoms and it's cultural factors in the conversion of emotional distress to the somatization are much different from culture to culture. Conventional impression and monotonous interpretation that somatization is prevalent in the non-Western or traditional society and it is due to poor differentiation of the psyche is seriously criticized. Cultural metaphors of expressing emotional pain, traditional disease concepts, conventional way of adopting a given culture and society, and medical delivery system and milieu could be regarded as important cultural factors of the somatization. Cultural meanings of somatization in Korea were summarized and discussed. Finally, clinical guide line for transcultural practice were summarized.
