Experimental Study for the Resonance Effect of the Power Buoy Amplitude (공진형 전력부이의 상하변위증폭 효과에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • In this study, laboratory experiments and numerical simulations were conducted to test the performance of resonance power buoy system proposed by Kweon et al.(2010). The system is composed of a linear generator and a mooring buoy. The mover of the linear generator mainly has heave motion driven by vertical oscillation of the buoy. In this system, the velocity discrepancy between the mover and the buoy makes electricity. However, ocean wave energy as a natural resource around Korean peninsula is comparatively small and the driving force for producing electricity is not enough for commercialization. Therefore, it is necessary that the buoy motion be amplified by using resonance characteristics. In order to verify the resonance effects on the test power buoy, the experimental investigations were conducted in the large wave flume (length of 110 m, width of 8 m, maximum depth of 6 m) equipped with regular and random plunger wave generator. The resonance draft of test power buoy is designed for the corresponding period of incident wave, 1.96 sec. Regular wave test results show that the heave response amplitude operator(RAO) by a test buoy has the amplification of 5.66 times higher compared to the wave amplitude at the resonance period. Test results of random waves show that the buoy has the largest spectrum area of 20.73 times higher at the point of not the resonance period but the shorter one of 1.85 sec. Therefore this study suggests the resonance power buoy for wave power generation for commercial application in the case of the coastal and oceanic area with smaller wave energy.

  • A vibration-powered piezoelectric energy harvester yields the maximum power output when its resonant frequency is made equal to the excitation frequency; however, the power output is dramatically decreased when the energy harvester is operated at off-resonance frequency. It has been observed that the resonant frequency of a piezoelectric energy harvester may change with time and that the excitation frequency often varies when the energy harvester is used in real applications. Hence, in this study, we propose a piezoelectric energy-harvesting module that is suitable for excitations in a certain frequency range. The frequency characteristics of the electrical output of the module are studied through analysis and experiment. A simple frequency tuning method is also suggested for the proposed energy-harvesting module; in this method, frequency tuning is achieved by changing the electrical connections between the constituent energy-harvesting units of the module.

  • 우수한 비강성과 비강도를 지닌 복합재료를 이용한 자동차용 추진축(Propeller Shaft)의 사용은 자동차의 구조정량화, 소음/진동 감소, 승차감 향상 측면에서 개선된 효과를 기대할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 탄소섬유/에폭시 필라멘트 와인딩(Filament Winding) 공빔을 적용한 복합재료 튜브와 금속재 플랜지 그리고 유니버셜 조인트로 구성된 상용 차의 추진축 개발과정 중 축의 진동특성에 대한 적합한 형상과 물성을 찾기 위해 유한요소법을 적용한 자유진동 해석과 FFT 해석장비를 이용한 진동실험 그리고 축을 운용속도까지 회전시켜 공진(Resonance) 현상 발생 유무를 소음량의 측정으로 판단하는 시험이 수행되었다. 그 결과 요구조건에 적합한 진동특성을 나타내는 추진축의 형상을 결정할 수 있었다.

  • Nowadays, diesel power plant using low speed two stroke diesel engine is widely used in islands and restricted areas. Considerations were given to its benefit of high thermal efficiency, reliability and durability compared to the other prime movers. However, various types of engine vibration affect neighboring buildings to their structural vibration. For this, diesel power plant are held liable for the troubles caused by these vibration. These are mainly due to the X- and H-type engine vibrations which we excited by the X- and H- guide force moment. Authors have identified a structural vibration of new pattern called ‘T-mode vibration’ due to the torsional vibration of shafting system. In this paper, T-mode vibration is analyzed through an experimental method based on the global vibration measurement.

  • In this paper, fluid movement of magnetic fluid which has free surface is investigated in a container subjected to a horizontal oscillation. Here, the vertical magnetic field is applied from the bottom of this container. The experiment is performed on the magnetic fluid in a rectangular and a cylindrical container and the effects of magnetic force exerted on the magnetic fluid are investigated on the resonance frequency and liquid surface displacement. The increase of magnetic field affects on the maximum resonance point and the liquid surface displacement. In result, it changes the amplitude of the surface wave and the period of sloshing fluid movement.

  • 터빈 블레이드와 같이 회전하는 구조물의 파단은 공진 근처에서 진동이 발 생할 때에 이에 기인하는 피로에 의하여 발생한다. 그러므로 이와 같은 파단 을 피하기 위해서는 설계 단계에서 이론적인 계산에 의하여 구조물의 고유 진동수를 결정하는 것이 상당히 중요하다. 판이 회전을 받게 되면 원심력에 의하여 판의 강성이 증가하므로 고유진동수가 회전하지 않는 판의 고유진동 수보다는 상당히 증가하게 된다. 이에 대한 연구가 국내외에서 상당수 행하 여졌지만, 연구의 대부분이 회전의 영향을 고려하지 않은 정지판(stationary plate)에 대한 것이며 뢰전을 고려한 연구는 극히 제한되어 있다. 또한 회전 의 영향을 고려한 연구의 대부분이 해석 대상을 보로서 단순화 시켰고 해법 으로는 유한요소법과 Ritz법 등을 사용하였다. 이는 블레이드가 지니고 있는 기하학적인 형상과 진동 특성이 해석적인 방법으로 해결하는 데에는 상당한 어려움이 있기 때문이다. 실제적으로는 터빈 블레이드와 같은 회전체의 진동 특성이 설치각이나 비틀림각, 판의 형상비, 회전속도 등의 변화에 의하여 영 향을 받기 때문에 보와 같은 진동 거동을 보이기보다는 판이나 셀과 같은 진동 거동을 보이므로 보다 정확한 해석을 수행하기 위해서는 해석 대상을 판이나 셀로서 취급하는 것이 타당하다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 위와 같은 이 유 때문에 해석 대상을 등방성 사각판과 직교이방성 복합재료 사각판으로 선택하였으며, 구조물의 고유진동수에 영향을 미치는 다음과 같은 인자들을 해석에 고려하였다. 1. 회전속도 (rotational speed) 2. 설치각 (setting angle) 3. 허브의 반경 (hub radius) 4. 판의 형상비 (aspect ratio) 5. 적층순서 (stacking sequence)구조물에 대한 동적실험(dynamic test)을 통하여 단기간에 동적특성을 결정하고 SDM(structure dynamic modification)이나 FRS(force response simulation)를 수행하여 임의의 좌표 공간에 대한 진동수준을 해석적으로 예측할 뿐만 아니라 구조물의 진동제어 를 위한 동적인자를 변경시킬 수 있는 정보를 제공하며 장비를 방진할 경우 신뢰성 있는 전달률을 결정할 수 있다. 실험적으로 철교, 교량이나 건물의 철골구조 및 2층 바닥 등 대,중형의 복잡한 구조물에 대항 동특성을 나타내 는 모빌리티를 결정할 경우 충격 가진 실험이 사용되는 실험장비 측면에서 나 실험을 수행하는 과정이 대체적으로 간편하다. 그러나 이 경우 대상 구조 물을 충분히 가진시킬수 있는 용량의 대형 충격기(large impact hammer)가 필요하게 된다. 이러한 동적실험은 약 길이 61m, 폭 16m의 4경간 교량에 대 하여 동적실험을 수행하여 가능성을 확인하였다. 여기서는 실험실 수준의 평 판모델을 제작하고 실제 현장에서 이루어질 수 있는 진동제어 구조물에 대 한 동적실험 및 FRS를 수행하는 과정과 동일하게 따름으로써 실제 발생할 수 있는 오차나 error를 실험실내의 차원에서 파악하여 진동원을 있는 구조 물에 대한 진동제어기술을 보유하고자 한다. 이용한 해마의 부피측정은 해마경화증 환자의 진단에 있어 육안적인 MR 진단이 어려운 제한된 경우에만 실제적 도움을 줄 수 있는 보조적인 방법으로 생각된다.ofile whereas relaxivity at high field is not affected by τS.   • In this work, the in-situ viscoelastic characteristics of electropolymerized polypyrrole (PPy) thin film were investigated in the electrolyte solutions of $NaClO_4$, $LiClO_4$, and $KClO_4$ by using quartz crystal analyzer (QCA). One side of quartz crystal was used as a working electrode mounted in a special fabricated QCA electrochemical ceil. The resonant frequency and resonant resistance diagram (F-R diagram) was used to interpret the viscoelastic characteristics of Pby thin film and compared with AFM photograph. The resonant frequency, resonant resistance, and current were measured to analyze the redox reaction behaviors when the cyclic voltammetry was performed using AT-cut quartz crystal electrode coated with galvanostatically polymerized Ppy film. The result suggests that the Ppy film polymerized onto the crystal behaves as a rigid elastic layer at the initial stage of electropolymerization, while the film becomes a viscoelastic layer the polymerization proceeds further. At the same time, the film thickness increases and some morphological changes take place due to the penetration of electrolyte solution into the film. These phenomena take place when cyclic voltammetry was performed using different electrolyte solution compared with polymerization process.

A Novel Cooling Method by Acoustic Streaming Induced by Ultrasonic Resonator (초음파 진동자에 의해 유도된 음향유동을 이용한 첨단 냉각법)

  • A novel cooling method induced by acoustic streaming generated by ultrasonic vibration at 30㎑ is presented. Ultrasonic vibration is obtained by piezoelectric devices and the maximum vibration amplitude of 50 m is achieved by including a horn, mechanical vibration amplifier in the system and making the complete system resonate. To investigate the enhancement of heat transfer capability of acoustic streaming, the temperature variations of heat source and air in the vicinity of heat source are measured in real-time. It is observed that acoustic streaming is instantly induced by ultrasonic vibration, resulting in the significant temperature drop due to the bulk air flow caused by acoustic streaming. In addition, it is observed that the cooling effect on the heat source is maximized when the gap between the ultrasonic vibrator and heat source coincides with the multiples of half-wavelength of the ultrasonic wave. This fact results from the resonance of the sound wave. The theoretical analysis of the dependence on the gap is also accomplished and verified by experiment. The advantage of the proposed cooling method by acoustic streaming is noise-free due to the ultrasonic vibration and maintenance-free because of the absence of moving parts. Moreover. This cooling method can be utilized to the nano and micro-electro mechanical systems, where the fan-based conventional cooling method can not be employed.

  • Damping characteristics of pressure oscillation induced by an orifice in fluid feeding line for are investigated numerically and experimentally. Assuming small pressure oscillation, acoustic damping effect of orifice is confirmed experimentally, and with the mean flow, damping characteristics of an orifice are investigated numerically. When an orifice is installed at the node of pressure oscillation corresponding to the anti-node of velocity oscillation, suppression of pressure oscillation is maximized and with the mean flow, the resonant frequency is decreased. And, it is found that the optimal position of an orifice for damping shouled be changed.

  • An active mount is devised in same geometric constraints with a conventional rubber mount. The proposed mount features the piezoelectric actuator which can be used to reduce the vibration at marine vessels or automotive vehicles. As a first step, a passive rubber mount is adopted and its dynamic characteristics are experimentally evaluated. Based on the geometry of the rubber mount, a rubber element for the active mount is manufactured and integrated with two piezostacks in series, in which the piezostack is operated as an inertial type of actuator. A conventional PID controller featured by the simple and easy implementation, is then designed to attenuate the non-resonant high frequency vibration transmitted from the base excitation. Finally, the control performances of a proposed active mount are evaluated in the wide frequency range and compared with those of the conventional rubber mount.
