In this study, a program has been coded to evaluate propeller thrust rapidly following the effects of propeller shapes and the environmental facts. At this time, Semi-infinite Helical Vortices model is used to predict the induction factor which is introduced by Kawada. This program is based on Wrench's Propeller lifting line theory, and it can predict aerodynamic coefficients such as thrust, power, and efficiency. First of all, this program is compared with test results of NACA reports to verify of the reliability. Secondly, subsonic wind tunnel test has been performed following variations of propeller's rpm and inflow velocities.

Rotor blades are important devices that affect the power performance, efficiency of energy conversion, and loading and dynamic stability of wind turbines. Therefore, considering the characteristics of a wind turbine system is important for achieving optimal blade design. When a design is complete, a design evaluation should be performed to verify the structural integrity of the proposed blade in accordance with international standards or guidelines. This paper presents a detailed exposition of the evaluation items and acceptance criteria required for the design certification of wind turbine blades. It also presents design evaluation results for a 2-MW blade (KR40.1b). Analyses of ultimate strength, buckling stability, and tip displacement were performed using FEM, and Miner's rule was applied to evaluate the fatigue life of the blade. The structural integrity of the KR40.1b blade was found to satisfy the design standards.

Exhaust plume effects on longitudinal aerodynamics of missile were investigated by wind tunnel tests using a solid plume simulator and CFD analyses with both the solid plume and air jet plumes. Approximate plume boundary prediction technique was used to produce the outer shape of the solid plumer and chamber conditions and nozzle shapes of the air jet plumes were determined through plume modeling technique to compensate the difference in thermodynamic properties between air and real plume. From comparisons among turbulence models in case of external flow interaction with the air jet plume, Spalart-Allmaras model turned out to give accurate result and to be less grid-dependent. Effects induced by the plume were evaluated through the computations with Spalart-Allmaras turbulence model and the air jet plume to account for various ratios of chamber and ambient pressure and Reynolds number under the flight test condition.

In this study, advanced (fluid-structure interaction (FSI)) analysis system has been developed in order to predict turbine cascade performance with blade deformation effect due to aerodynamic loads. Intereference effects due to the relative movement of the rotor cascade with respect to the stator cascade are also considered. Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations with one equation Spalart-Allmaras and two-equation k-ω SST turbulence models are solved to accurately predict fluid dynamic loads considering flow separation effects. A fully implicit time marching scheme based on the (coupled Newmark time-integration method) with high artificial damping is efficiently used to compute the complex fluid-structure interaction problem. Predicted aerodynamic performance considering structural deformation effect of the blade shows somewhat different results compared to the case of rigid blade model. Cascade performance evaluations for different elastic axis positions are importantly presented and its aeroelastic effects are investigated.

In the present study, we compared the theory with CFD data about the boundary layer thickness, displacement thickness and momentum thickness. According to the freestream velocity, larminar and turbulent is decided and affect to the flow patterns around the airfoil The boundary layer thickness, displacement thickness and momentum thickness affect to the aerodynamic characteristics of the airfoil(e.g. lift, drag and pitching moment). The separation point is affected by varying angle of attack. In the present study, we used the Joukowski airfoil(c=1), and NACA0012 airfoil was used at CFD. The chord Reynolds number is $Re_c$=3,000, 700,000, respectively and the freestream velocity is 0.045, 10 m/s, respectively. In this paper, the data was a good agreement with that of experimental results, so we can analyze the various airfoil models.

The Monte-Carlo simulation of statistical analysis is used to investigate the final conditions of states as well as the footprint boundaries resulting from the atmospheric re-entry dispersions. The re-entry dispersions in this paper are specified by a $7\times7$ covariance matrix of latitude, longitude, altitude, bank angle, flight path angle, heading error, and range at entry velocity. The error sources that affect these at re-entry for a deboost are the uncertainties associated with atmospheric density and temperature, initial errors, wind, and estimation error of aerodynamic coefficients. Using $3{\sigma}_n$ deviations of these errors and a nominal flight trajectory, the covariance matrix of state variables can be determined by performing a trajectory error analysis. Major considerations in the application of the Monte-Carlo method are the simulation of perturbed trajectories, bank reversal, and determination of the impact points for each of these trajectories. This paper analyzes the results of uncertainties from the viewpoint of aero-coefficients and bank reversal.

In this study, dynamic aeroelastic analyses of the canard with oscillating flap are conducted considering the effect of aerodynamic compressibility. The canard model considered herein is an all-movable type with a pitching axis on a canard-rotor-wing aircraft which was considered as one of the major UAV candidates under developing in Korea. The equivalent structural model is constructed based on the initial design data by the Korea smart UAV development center. Both the frequency and the time-domain aeroelastic analyses have been applied to practically conduct parametric studies on the effects of equivalent torsional stiffness. In the case of all-movable control surface with oscillating flap, the equivalent rotational stiffness of the pitch axes are important design parameters. The parametric results for the aeroelastic instability are practically presented.

The operational characteristics of the landing gear retraction/extension depend on the complexity of design variables operational/environmental conditions. In order to meet the requirements of minimum stow area and performance, the integration of the landing gear system requires operational kinematic and dynamic analysis considering an effect of its related system. This study investigates operational dynamic behaviors of the T-50 landing gear system using ADAMS. Taking into account for various operational/environmental conditions, an analysis of dynamic behavior on the landing gear operational characteristics is performed with experience derived from a wide range of proprietary designs. Analytical results are presented for discussing the effects of temperature, aerodynamic and maneuver load on normal/emergency operation of the landing gears and doors. This analysis leads us to the conclusion that the proposed program is shown to be a better quantitative one that apply to a new development and troubleshooting of the landing gear system.

This study examined the airflow field around a gun port on the flight condition of gunfire to verify the aircraft performance and safety effects and gun gas rate, path according to the options of diverter configuration. The gun port diverter not only effectively lowered the heat generated by gunfire but also effectively discharged the gun gas upwards. The path of gun gas can be changed according to its configuration. According to the optional configuration of the rear-gun-port diverter, the flow rate, path, and pressure of the gun gas were analyzed during gunfire. An analysis of the internal velocity distribution and the temperature change of the gun port revealed a rapid decrease in flow rate through the rear diverter according to the option configuration. The forward flow rate showed a similar tendency with little change. This ensures that the gun gas generated during gunfire has a sufficient flow distance from the aircraft surface, regardless of the rear gun port diverter's optional configuration. The flow stagnation of gun gas according to the option configuration of diverter had a great influence on the internal temperature rise of a gun port.
