  • Investigations into cavity flows have been conducted for noise and vibration problems that arise in cavity systems. Cavity systems have been applied in engineering devices and have undergone rapid development in the aerospace industry. Meanwhile, to the author's best knowledge, the cavity on a curved wall has been seldom studied. The present work is conducted to study the flow physics of a cavity mounted on a curved wall. Numerical analysis is performed to investigate the cavity flow. Two variables of sub- and supersonic cavity flows were considered: the radius of curvature of the curved wall (L/R) and the inlet Mach number. The results show that the uniform vortex generated by the cavity flow on the curved wall stabilize the pressure fluctuation as time passes. As the inlet Mach number increases, the pressure fluctuation amplitude increases. The results obtained from the curved wall are compared with those from a straight wall using Rossiter's formula. The Strouhal number of the curved wall is lower than that of the straight wall. Lower Strouhal numbers have been obtained in the present computational fluid dynamics (CFD) results than in the theoretical results using Rossiter's formula.

  • 천음속 익형에서 발생하는 응축충격파와 경계층의 간섭을 피동제어 하여 항력감소에 대한 연구를 2.5$\times$7$\textrm{cm}^2$ 천음속 풍동에서 수행하였다. 익형표면에 설치한 정압공으로 정압을, 익형후방에 설치한 8개의 Pitot probe로 전압을 동시에 측정하여 충격파를 통한 에너지의 손실과 항력의 변화를 계산하였고, 또한 유동장과 충격파의 형상을 가시화하기 위해 슈리렌 가시화 시스템을 사용하였다. 실험은 NACA 0012 익형에서 기공률 변화에 따른 피동제어의 항력감소 초과를 조사한 다음 NACA 64-018 익형에서는 기공률과 공동의 크기의 변화가 미치는 효과를 연구하였다. 피동제어의 개념은 충격파가 발생하는 하부벽을 다공벽으로 만들고 그 아래를 공동으로 만들면 충격파 후방의 상대적으로 높은 압력이 기류의 일부를 공동으로 자연스럽게 유입시키고 다시 공동에서 낮은 압력의 충격파 상류로 유출시키는 것이다.

  • 금속의 가공공정에 있어 중요한 인자중의 하나인 재료의 연성은 환경뿐만 아니라 주변압력에 따라 변화한다는 사실이 20세기에 들어 여러 연구자들에 의해 밝혀졌고 1950년대 Birdgman에 의해 최초로 실험적인 방법으로 증면되었다. 재료의 이와같은 현상을 압력유도연성이라 하는데 이는 주변압력이 재료 내부에서의 공동발생 및 그 성장에 관계하기 때문인 것으로 알려졌다. 공동의 합체 및 성장은 연성파괴의 전체조건이 되므로 이를 억제하면 성형성 및 연성이 증가됨을 알 수 있다. 금속의 압력 유도 연성을 이용한 가공방법을 가압금속형형이라 한다. 최근에 가압금속형의 범주는 크게늘고 있 는데 특히, 성형,블랭킹, 분말야금법 등에 널리 이용되고 있다. 정수압의 크기에 다른전단면의 상태 변화 즉, 소성 변형능에 관한 연구는 Fine-Blanking가공이론에 적용, 해석되고 있다.

  • Restriction orifices in the feed and bleed circuit of nuclear power plant are designed using computer program capable of handling multiple hole cascade orifice assembly. Single hole stages of orifice assembly are alternated with multihole stages where necessary. The distance between stages is such that it allows full pressure recovery. The minimum static pressure is higher than vapor pressure at the operating temperature so that cavitation does not occur. Piping sizes are reviewed and increased if necessary to improve rigidity.

  • Investigations into cavity flows have been conducted for decades now, most of them being about zero-pressure-gradient flows entering a cavity on a straight wall. However, the flow over curved walls in real-life situations has not been fully investigated. As cavity flows on curved walls exert centrifugal force, these walls are likely to possess different features from straight walls. To verify this possibility, this study investigated cavity flows on curved walls. Using numerical method, the effect of two variables, namely, radius of curvature on a curved wall and inlet Mach number, were investigated for subsonic and supersonic cavity flows. The result demonstrates that the value of the peak pressure generated inside the cavity increases with the decrease in the radius of curvature on a curved wall or an increase in the inlet Mach number. The total pressure loss in the cavity also results in an increase in the cavity drag.

  • 국가기간전산망사업의 일환으로 추진되고 있는 금융전산망사업은 금융기관의 급속한 전산화를 가져와 국민편의 확대는 물론 국제경쟁력 확보, 지급결제업무의 개선, 정책수립자료의 신속한 제공 등 많은 가시적 성과를 거두어 왔다. 이러한 금융전산망 사업은 그러나 은행.증권.보험.투자금융 등 각 업계별 전산화 뿐만 아니라 이들 전 금융기관이 공동참여하는 단일 전산망 구축문제, 그리고 외국은행 국내지점의 금융기관공동 전산망 가입 압력 등 대내외적으로 풀어나가야 할 산적한 많은 과제들을 안고 있다. 이에 본지는 대 국민 인식제고를 위해 금융전산망사업중 주도적으로 추진되고 있는 은행공동전산망의 종류와 내용, 추진현황, 향후전망과 과제 등을 알아본다.

An Experimental Study on Groundwater Head, Injection Water Flowrate and Seepage Water Flowrate under Clogging State of Underground Storage (LPG 지하저장기지 수평 수벽공의 클로깅 현상 발생시 지하수위 및 주입수량, 삼출수량의 변화양상에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • When the water curtain system is employed to keep the liquefied gas in the underground storage cavern, clogging is observed in borehole. Since this phenomenon causes serious difficulties in managing LPG storage cavern, it needs to detect the degree of clogging accurately under various circumstances. Thus, in this study the active factors of clogging, that is, groundwater head, injection water flowrate, and seepage water flowrate, were investigated experimentally using a physical model. Experimental results show that groundwater head around storage cavern increases as cavern Pressure increases, while it decreases as clogging becomes severe. The pressure in storage cavern is required to reduce up to atmospheric pressure in order to detect and identify the degree of clogging more accurately. The decrease of uroundwater head due to clogging slows down as the pressure in borehole increases. As amounts of suspended matters in injected water increase, both injection water flowrate and seepage water flowrate decrease linearly with time, and the flowrate of injection water drops rapidly compared with seepage water flowrate.

Stability Investigation of a Foundation Located above Limestone Cavities Using Scaled Model Tests (석회암공동 상부 기초의 안정성 검토를 위한 모형실험 연구)

  • Scaled model tests were performed to investigate the stability of a foundation located above limestone cavities. Cavity shape was assumed to be an ellipse having 1/3 for the ratio of minor to major axis lengths. 12 different test models which have various depths, locations, inclinations, sizes and numbers of cavity were experimented and they were classified into 5 different groups. Crack initiation pressure, maximum pressure, deformation behaviors, failure modes and subsidence profiles of test models were obtained, and then the influences of those parameters on the foundation stability were investigated. No cavity model showed a general shear failure, whereas the models including various cavities showed the complicated three different failure modes which were only punching failure, both punching and shear failures, and double shear failure. The stability of foundation was found to be decreased as the cavity was located at shallower depth, the size and number of cavity were increased. Differential settlements appeared when the cavity was located under the biased part of foundation. Furthermore, subsidence profiles were found to depend on the distribution of underground cavities.

  • The flow of combustor in scramjet engine is supersonic speed. So residence time and mixing ratio are very important factors for efficient combustion. This study used open cavity on fuel/air mixing model and laser schlieren was carried out to investigate flow characteristics around a jet orifice and a cavity. A source of illumination has 10 ns endurance time so it can observe unsteady flow characteristics efficiently. Pressure was measured by varying momentum flux ratio. And the change of critical ignition point was observed to change of momentum flux ratio.

  • The domestic demand of natural gas has increased continuously due to the sudden rise of oil price and regulations on greenhouse gas to global warming. In order to improve the supply security of natural gas market in Korea, the agreement on supply of pipeline natural gas (PNG) in Russia was signed between Gazprom and Korea Gas Corporation in 2008. If the supply plan of Russian natural gas is realized, underground storage facilities would be required in order to balance supply and demand of natural gas because the gas demand is concentrated in the winter. This study investigated the safety of the storage facility in quantitative way considering several design parameters such as gas pressure, depth of the storage cavern, rock condition and in-situ horizontal stress ratio. Two dimensional stress analyses were conducted using axi- symmetry condition to examine the behavior of cavern depending upon suggested design parameters. Results showed that the factor of safety, defined as the ratio of 'shear strength'/'shear stress', was largely affected by the depth, rock class and gas pressure but was insensitive to the coefficient of lateral pressure(Ko).
