  • When a tunnel or an underground structure is excavated in deep geological environments, the failure process is affected and eventually dominated by stress-induced fractures growing preferentially parallel to the excavation boundary. This fracturing is generally referred to as brittle failure by spatting and slabbing. Continuum models with traditional failure criteria such as Hoek-Brown or Mohr-Coulomb criteria have not been successful in prediction of the extent and depth of brittle failure. Instead cohesion weakening and frictional strengthening (CWFS) model is known to predict brittle failure well. In this study, CWFS model was applied to predict the brittle failure around a circular opening observed in physical model experiments. To obtain the input parameters for CWFS model, damage-controlled tests were carried out. The predicted depth and extent of brittle failure using CWFS model were compared to the results of the physical model experiment and numerical simulation using traditional model.

  • The evolution of the cavity and the variation of the drag for an underwater body with control fins are investigated through a numerical analysis of the steady cavitating turbulent flow. The continuity and the steady-state RANS equations are numerically solved using a mixture fluid model for calculating the multiphase turbulent flow of air, water and vapor together with the SST $k-{\omega}$ turbulence model. The method of volume of fluid is applied by the use of the Sauer's cavitation model. Numerical solutions have been obtained for the cavity flow about an underwater body shaped like the Russian high-speed torpedo, Shkval. Results are presented for the cavity shape and the drag of the body under the influence of the gravity and the free surface. The evolution of the cavity with the body speed is discussed and the calculated cavity shapes are compared with the photographs of the cavity taken from an underwater launch experiment. Also the variation of the drag for a wide range of the body speed is investigated and analyzed in details.

  • In this paper, the proposed audio/video control device for multiple user in the multimedia platform is changed for the better a disadvantage that must get one computer per participant to process a floor mode needed for interactive collaboration in the multimedia based distance education. It also proposed simulator of co-work environment that included multimedia data. This developed to proceed a multimedia distance education efficiently and sharing a computer among multiple users. Therefore, this is resulting in a reduction the cost needed to build a multimedia distance education system as well as totally simplified the organization of system. It also offers compatibility and generality, interfacing with the printer port of standard PC supporting the bi-direction mode.

  • Numerical study on the passive control of the oblique shock wave/turbulent boundary-layer interaction control utilizing slotted plates over a cavity has been carried out. Numerical results have been compared with the experimental observations, such as pitot/wall surface pressures and Schlieren flow visualizations, obtained for the same boundary conditions. It was found that the present numerical results shows a good agreement with experimental data. Further, the effect of different slot configurations including various number, location and angle of slots on the characteristics of the interactions are also tested, focusing on the variation of the piot pressure and the boundary-layer characteristics downstream of the interaction and the recirculating mass flux through cavity.

  • Computational study on the passive control of the oblique shock-wave/turbulent boundary-layer interaction utilizing slotted plates over a cavity has been carried out. The numerical boundary layer profile upstream of the interaction follows the compressible turbulent boundary-layer theory reasonably well, and the other results also show good agreements with the experimental observations, such as the wall surface pressures and Schlieren flow visualizations. Further, the effects of various slot configuration including number, location and angle of the slots on the characteristics of the interactions, such as the variation of the total pressures, the boundary-layer characteristics downstream of the interaction and the recirculating mass flux through the slots, are also tested and compared.

  • We propose ESS_WMCE. This paper explains the design and implementation of the EDSS running on ESS_WMCE. EDSS is a synchronization error control system for web based multimedia collaboration environment. We have an error detection approach by using hooking method. The technique of an error transmission is a mended model of utilizing an application sharing system. DOORAE is a good framework model for supporting development on application for computer supported cooperated works. It has primitive service functions. Service functions are implemented with an object oriented concept. It is a system that is suitable for detecting and sharing a software error rapidly occurring on web based multimedia collaboration environment by using software techniques. It is able to share an error as well as providing URL synchronization to access shared objects. When an error occurs, this system detects an error by using hooking methods in MS-Windows API(Application Program Interface) function. If an error is found, it is able to provide an error sharing to access shared objects.

  • This paper presents the design and the implementation of a MissCW(Multi user Interactive System for Synchronous Collaborative Writing). The document model DMDA(Distributed Multimedia Document Architecture) of MissCW consists of the logical structure, presentation style object, and mark object. The windows. The collaborative editor of this system proposes a structure oriented editing mechanism to combine distrbuted objects into one document. The middleware SOM(Shared Object Manager) maintains shared objects consistently and helps application programs use objects efficiently. The infrastructure of this system is a hybrid structure of replicated and centralized architectures, that is to maintain shared objects consistently inside of SOM and to reduce the overhead of network traffic. The central part is a virtual node which corresponds to the Object Controller of SOMwith the SOT(Shared Objet Table).

  • This paper explains a performance analysis of an error detection system running on nested session management of cloud computing collaboration environment using rule-based DEVS modeling and simulation techniques. In DEVS, a system has a time base, inputs, states, outputs, and functions. This paper explains the design and implementation of the FDA(Fault Detection Agent). FDA is a system that is suitable for detecting software error for multimedia remote control based on nested session management of cloud computing collaboration environment.
