An attack aircraft such as a fighter needs an accurate location information of a target for the exact air-to-air or air-to-ground attack. In this paper a method is proposed that generates a location information of an air-to-ground target just in use of HMD without the target tracking sensors such as the radar and the FLIR. HMD is an embedded device to induce the seeker header to indicate the direction of a pilot's head. As a simulation result, it is founded that the target location information is able to be generated with a high degree of precision by using of HMD as a passive sensor.

Launch Acceptability Region of Air-to-Surface Guided Bomb is defined as the set of release points in order to reach a target successfully. LAR is consisted of fixed target area and moving target area whether the target maneuvers or not. In this paper, the computational algorithm of LAR is studied for fixed and moving target. First, multi-simulations are performed varying platform, target, and atmospheric environment to attain Min/Max DB. Second, the LAR functions are obtained using regression and classification algorithm. For operational suitability, the algorithm for display of LAR is studied to obtain appropriate LAR. In this progress, the results of LAR are suitable to apply air-to-ground guided bomb for moving target.

In this paper, we propose a method for recognizing ground target using dual polarization channels in millimeter waveband air-to-surface radar. First, the Push-Broom target detection method is described and the received signal is modeled considering flight-path scenario of air-to-surface radar. The scattering centers were extracted using the RELAX algorithm, which is a time domain spectral estimation technique, and the feature vector of the target was generated. Based on this, a DB for 4 targets is constructed. As a result of the proposed method, it is confirmed that the target classification rates is improved by more than 15% than the single channel using the data of the dual polarization channel.

Launch Acceptability Region(LAR) is a region for an aircraft which carries air-to-ground guided bombs to enter such that it can successfully hit the target. LAR should consider the release condition of an aircraft, impact condition for targets, and environmental condition of atmosphere. In this paper, LAR algorithm was developed using the database of many simulations which were varied by inputs, such as the release, impact, and environmental conditions. The algorithm was tested through the direct simulation results, and found that it was suitable to apply as LAR for air-to-ground guided bomb.
AESA radar is able to instantaneously and adaptively position and control the beam, and this enables to greatly improve multi-target tracking capability with high accuracy in comparison to traditional mechanically-scanned radar system. This paper is primarily concerned with the development of an efficient methodology for multi-target managenent with the context of multi-target environment employing AESA radar. In this paper, targets are stratified into two principal categories: currently displayed targets and non-display targets, predicated upon their relative priority. Displayed targets are subsequently stratified into TOI (target of interest), HPT (high priority target), and SAT (situational awareness target), based on the requisite levels of tracking accuracy. It also suggests rules for determining target priority management, especially in air-to-air mode including interleaved mode. This proposed approach was tested and validated in a SIL (system integration lab) environment, applying it to AESA radars mounted on aircraft.

An air-to-ground guidance missile aimed to hit a main battle tank(MBT) should detect a ground moving target and estimate the target position to guide. In this paper, we detect a front ground moving target by using FMCW(Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave) and estimate the position by forward-looking SAR(Synthetic Aperture Radar) via scanning certain front ground section by steering a beam with narrow beamwidth left to right mechanically. Also, by MLE(Maximum Likelihood Estimation), degree of how fast the target approach or recede from the radar can be figured out from the estimated radial velocity of the moving target. Subsequently, we generate a radar image via corrected matched filter from phase history including the radial velocity.

Launch Acceptability Region(LAR) means an area for successfully hitting the target. And LAR should be calculated in real time on aircraft so that LAR can be seen by pilot. LAR can be changed by the launch condition of the bomb, the impact condition of the target, and the atmospheric condition at the time of flight of the bomb. In this paper, we propose the calculation method of LAR using Artificial Neural Network(ANN). The learning data was generated by changing each condition from existing LAR model, and LAR model was derived through ANN learning. We confirmed the accuracy of the new LAR model by comparing the difference between the result data of existing LAR model and the new LAR model. And we confirmed the possibility of real time calculation of the LAR model on the aircraft by comparing the calculation time.

Airborne radar usually use MPRF(medium PRF) waveforms to detect and track look-down or all-directions air-to-air targets. To use MPRF waveforms, airborne radar have to operate optimal PRF schedules and select optimal PRFs able to detect look-down air-to-air targets, overcoming look-down clutter and resolving range/velocity ambiguities. In this paper, we propose a real-time search method for the optimal(and sub-optimal) PRFs able to detect and track targets in real-time change of situation for MPRF pulsed-Doppler airborne radars.

The radar signals are generally very sensitive to relative orientations between radar and target. Thus, the performance of a target recognition system significantly deteriorates as the region of aspect angles becomes broader. To address this difficulty, in this paper, we propose a method based on the multi-aspect information in order to improve the classification capability ever for a wide angular region. First, range profiles are used to extract feature vectors based on the central moments and principal component analysis(PCA). Then, a classifier with the use of multi-aspect information is applied to them, yielding an additional improvement of target recognition capability. There are two different strategies among the classifiers that can fuse the information from multi-aspect radar signals: independent methodology and dependent methodology. In this study, the performances of the two strategies are compared within the frame work of target recognition. The radar cross section(RCS) data of six aircraft models measured at compact range of Pohang University of Science and Technology are used to demonstrate and compare the performances of the two strategies.
The radar installed on an aircraft has various operating modes depending on tactical purposes, allowing for the configuration of search areas according to each mode's operational objectives. active electronically scanned array (AESA) radar emits search beams sequentially according to a predefined search beam grid within the designated search area specified by the pilot to detect targets within it. It is crucial that the radar can stably search the area designated by the pilot for target detection, even as the aircraft's attitude changes. This paper focuses on stabilizing the search pattern in the air-to-air operational mode of aircraft-mounted radar to ensure stable target detection during roll and pitch maneuvers of the aircraft. The paper demonstrates its performance by simulating aircraft maneuvers and targets in a system integration laboratory (SIL) test environment.
