A Case Study of the Improvement of the Structural Work of a Logistics Facility by Using PC Member (PC부재에 의한 물류시설의 골조공사 개선사례 연구)

  • As logistics facilities have a high ceiling height, simple structure, and the need for a quick return on investment, it is usually essential to advance the construction schedule of such facilities. Accordingly, PC structures, which require less labor, cost and schedule, can be more competitive than RC structures. However, most construction companies in Korea are familiar with RC structure design, have negative perceptions regarding PC structures, and do not sufficiently adopt new construction techniques. The structure that this research features has 110 columns that are 14 m high and are built to the same specification, and applying an RC design to the structure will lead to issues related to constructibility, economic viability, project duration and safety. Therefore, this study intends to feature PC design as an alternative to the RC warehouse design, and perform a comparative analysis of the reduction in labor, cost and construction schedule to highlight benefits. The research outcomes herein will provide inputs to subsequent studies on new construction strategies to advance the construction schedule, improve quality and constructibility, enhance safety and save costs.

Advanced Time-Cost Trade-Off Model using Mixed Integer Programming (혼합정수 프로그래밍 기법을 이용한 진보된 Time-Cost Trade-Off Model)

  • Time-Cost Trade-Off (TCTO) model is an important model in the construction project planning and control area. Two types of Existing TCTO model, continuous and discrete TCTO model, have been developed by researchers. However, Using only one type of model has a limitation to represent a realistic crash scenario of activities in the project. Thus, this paper presents a comprehensive TCTO model that combines a continuous and discrete model. Additional advanced features for non-linear relationship, incentive, and liquidated damage are included in the TCTO model. These features make the proposed model more applicable to the construction project. One CPM network with 6 activities is used to explain the proposed model. The model found an optimal schedule for the example to satisfy all the constraints. The results show that new model can represent more flexible crash scenario in TCTO model.

Fabrication and Constructability of a General-Purpose Manufactured Precast Concrete Double Wall (범용 생산설비를 활용한 PC 더블월 제작 및 시공성에 관한 연구)

  • This study introduces the development of a precast concrete double-wall, applicable to basement construction in apartment buildings. Unlike traditional precast concrete double walls, the developed double-wall doesn't require specialized manufacturing equipment such as a lathe. The constructability of these advanced technologies was validated through a full-scale mock-up test using the precast concrete double wall. The test specimens were constructed to represent a structural wall with a thickness of 250mm. It was observed that the quality of the in-situ concrete, filled between two single panels of 110mm thickness each, was excellent. The construction efficiency of the developed double-wall system for basement construction in an apartment building was also examined. Expert interviews about installation times of precast concrete elements were conducted to evaluate the speed of the basement floor's installation. The results showed that installation of precast concrete elements, including the proposed double walls, could be completed within 20 to 29 days for a basement in an apartment building. This indicates a three-fold increase in construction efficiency compared to traditional methods relying on in-situ casting.

  • 저번 회에서는 Barclays Center의 그린루프의 디자인 과정을 개략적으로 살펴보았습니다. 소음 저감의 목적으로 인하여 도출되었던 두 가지의 변수(새로운 루프의 중량과 두 겹의 루프사이에 위치하는 빈 공간)및 기존의 바클레이 센터가 가지고 있는 물리적인 특성(파라펫 및 기존 루프의 형상)을 고려하여 design surface를 설정하였고, 중량에 대한 조건 및 주변의 고층 주거빌딩들로 인해 일반적인 루프와는 다른 미적인 특이성을 고려하여 그린 루프라는 큰 방향을 제시하고, 양방향 곡면의 특성을 가지는 루프의 지오메트리와 시공 상의 복잡함과 공기의 단축을 위해 모듈로 이루어진 시스템을 제안하게 되었습니다. 이번 회에서는 루프의 디자인을 진행함에 있어서 어떠한 제약 조건이 있었으며 그러한 제약 조건들이 최종적인 루프 디자인 및 패턴에 어떠한 영향을 미쳤는지, 그리고 이러한 과정에서 파라메트릭 툴이 어떻게 사용되었는지에 대해 자세히 살펴보도록 하겠습니다. 이어서 다음 회에서는 디자인 측면에서가 아닌 pre-construction의 측면에서 시공상의 시행착오를 줄이고 공기를 단축하기 위한 목적으로 파라메트릭 툴의 사용하여 시뮬레이션을 했던 과정에 대해 자세히 알아보도록 하겠습니다.

  • In this study, revelation performance of concrete at early age according to types of cement, water reducing ratio of high performance superplasticizer and mixing of accelerator for early hydration was examined aiming for reduction of construction period of framework through securing strength at early age of concrete. It was observed that strength at early age, 5MPa in 12hours, 14MPa in 18hours, is secured by early strength improvement type cement and using promotion admixture for early hydration which are Sodium persulfate, Potassium hydroxide. Therefore cost reduction is expected to be possible in construction site by reducing construction period of frame work.
