The expansion work that is wasted through the irreversible expansion through the PC valve of decompression process of the natural gas governor station can be recovered by replacing the process by an isentropic expansion. The energy and exergy analyses for the two decompression process models of power producing and current decompression process model are presented. Analysis results showed that the exergy by gas supply is 56.29%, the exergy by producing power is 32.12 % in case of preheating system and 22.52% in case of non-preheating system. The dead exergy at the PCV is generated much more network. As these results, the usefulness of exergy analysis is verified.
Natural gas has different gas composition according to imported gas region, and the difference of gas composition affects pressure loss value occurred in pipe networks, Therefore, using real gas composition instead of averaged gas composition can obtain more reliable results for pipe network analysis. In this study, the effect of real gas composition at gas supply points on the demand pressure has been analyzed. To compare the results, the calculated pressure values for averaged gas composition at all the supply points have been used. From the results, we found that the effect of real gas composition consideration on demand pressure was considerable, and the real gas composition has to be considered for reliable pipe network analysis in gas industry.

The vertical take-off and vertical landing (VTVL) function is essential to carry out exploration missions on the moon or Mars. For this, the engine of the exploration vehicle must have appropriate thrust control accuracy and response time. The hybrid rocket engine (HRE) is known to have a high level of thrust control capability that can satisfy these conditions. This study aims to first verify whether the thrust control performance of the developed HRE is suitable for VTVL. To this end, an oxidizer supply system that does not use a pressurization device was adopted, aiming for a mission time of about 10 seconds. In this study, the thrust control characteristics appearing under various supply pressure decreasing conditions were identified through experiments. Appropriate tank and charging conditions were set from the experimental results. In addition, the results of previous studies and current study's test were compared to confirm whether the developed HRE had adequate control performance for VTVL, and finally, the thrust control performance was verified through altitude control simulation.

The orifice in the propellent feeding pipe line of a Liquid Rocket Engine(LRE) is used to balance the pressure of the pipe line. When a LRE starts up, pressure at the upstream of the orifice rapidly increases. In this case, pressure waves occuring by resistance of the orifice may induce low frequency instability in the pipe line. For this reason the study of dynamic characteristics of orifices is needed to prevent the instability. A pump is used to build up the pressure, and the pressure is measured upstream and downstream of the orifice when the orifice diameter is changed. With the increase of orifice diameter, water hammer decreases, but the effect of resistance downstream is increases.

Pneumatic system is widely applied to ground facility and launcher on-board system. One of the important aspects of pneumatic system is to meet pressure and flow rate requirements of gas consumers. In this paper, a systematic analytical approach for pneumatic system is proposed, which uses and systematically combines previous studies. The proposed analytical method is that pressure/flow calculation using conservation equations are combined with sonic limit check at vena contracta of the components of pneumatic system, which checks the installed components whether they are merely pressure loss elements or flow limiting element of the system. In this paper, gas consumers are categorized and simulated using the proposed method. The results reveal that the feeding performance of general pneumatic system can be properly estimated using the proposed approach.

Effects of an orifice on suppression of pressure oscillation in a fluid feeding line are investigated numerically through the installation of an orifice inside the feeding line. Based on linear acoustic theory, acoustic-damping effect of an orifice is emphasized in this study. When an orifice is installed at the node of pressure oscillation corresponding to the anti-node of velocity oscillation, damping capacity is maximized. On the other hand, the orifice installed at the anti-node of pressure oscillation has little damping capacity. As the blockage ratio and thickness of an orifice increase in the feeding line, damping factor increases. The feeding line with smaller diameter has more damping capacity, but damping factor increases more appreciably with blockage ratio in the feeding line with larger diameter.
A performance sensitivity of liquid rocket engine to propellant density or supply pressure change was studied. The analysis program was verified to have 1% error comparing with the measured data of a turbopump-gas generator system. The engine combustion pressure decreases as fuel supply pressure increases due to decreased mixture ratio which reduces the turbine power. The engine combustion pressure increases as fuel density increases because the total propellant flow rate is increased substantially even though mixture ratio is slightly decreased. The engine combustion pressure increases when the oxidizer density or supply pressure increases.
