This study was carried out for the Centum Shinsegae Department Store, to grasp the indoor rest space and furniture design status, this study analyzes the characteristics of visitors' use behavior centered on furniture. The purpose of this study is to provide basic data for commercial rest space design by understanding the characteristics of resting space in commercial space and whether the furniture can support the behavior of visitors. The research method is to carry out on-site inspection, including the location of the rest space on each floor, the type and design characteristics of the furniture design, and the characteristics and patterns of the users on each were analyzed. The results of the study are as follows. As a result of analyzing the rest space and furniture, the furniture is brown, it has been provided with various designs such as fan-shaped, arched bench, sofa, chair type, and comfortable colors of lightness ranging from light gray to black, and appropriately supported the most common usage patterns.However, in the case of Shinsegae Department Store, it is necessary to consider the safety and convenience of the vulnerable groups.

Most of the existing studies of hospital ward were concentrated on the bed room and there was no study on the day place and corridor space for the inpatient. According to the existing study, 50% inpatients move here and there freely and they want to have a rest in the day place or corridor of the general hospital. So the purpose of this study is to find out the reason why the inpatients prefer to rest in the day place, to survey the inpatients' behavior there and to stress the importance of exterior environment except the bed room in the public space of hospital.

The purpose of this research is to explore young adults (YA)' perceptions, use, and needs of public libraries, as well as to find out how to make effective YA sections within public libraries. Two public libraries with separate YA sections were selected and a total of 126 YA users participated in the survey. The survey showed 86.5% of participants used the YA section and the main reasons for use were reading for leisure, study area use, and seeking information for school assignments. 64.8% of participants agreed that separate YA sections are needed at public libraries. The areas most in need of improvement were expansion of seats of YA section, lack of digital devices, and expansion of group study and meeting spaces. This research highlights for space composition policy as YA's needs, creating a balanced environment for physical facilities, and YA oriented service. As well, a need for improved opening hours, and expansion of multi-use spaces for seats of the YA section.

도시농업 및 커뮤니티에 대한 사회적 관심에 편승하여 근래 도시의 커뮤니티가든(Community Garden)이 주목받고 있다. 북미의 커뮤니티가든은 농작물 생산 위주의 개인텃밭을 포괄한 지역사회의 구성원과 함께 만들어가는 오픈스페이스의 형태로, 화훼 등을 포괄하는 개념으로 간주되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 커뮤니티가든의 발상지인 북미 중에서도 가장 선진적인 사례로 손꼽히고 있는 미국 워싱턴주 시애틀(Seattle)시의 피패치(P-Patch)를 대상으로, 85개의 현장 전수조사를 통하여 공간설계 및 디자인요소를 추출하여 시사점을 도출하였다. 분석결과, 첫째 시애틀 피패치의 일반적인 디자인 구성요소는 기반시설, 지원시설, 휴게시설, 특수시설, 친환경시설 등 다섯 가지 기능으로 대별할 수 있는데, 지원시설로는 공구함(Tool Shed)이나 수전시설(Spigot)이, 친환경시설로는 도마(Cutting Board)나 퇴비함(Compost Bin)이 대부분 설치되어 있다. 둘째, 피패치의 공간구성 및 디자인적 특징으로는 이용자 수요 및 입지적 특성을 반영한 유연한 정원 설계를 들 수 있다. 셋째, 피패치는 다목적형 기능을 겸비한 복합적 공공장소로서 공공의 제도적 지원과 시민운동을 연계하는 기회를 제공하고 있다. 넷째, 지속가능성을 담보하기 위해 다양한 이해관계자(이용자, 코디네이터, 운영진, 전문가, 지역주민, 자원봉사자 등)와의 파트너십 구축, 다양한 재원 조달 방안 모색, 체계적인 모니터링 시스템 구축 및 운영을 지속하고 있다.

This study investigates user behavior in library spaces through the lens of AI camera analytics. By leveraging the face recognition and tracking capabilities of AI cameras, we accurately identified the gender and age of visitors and meticulously collected video data to track their movements. Our findings revealed that female users slightly outnumbered male users and the dominant age group was individuals in their 30s. User visits peaked between Tuesday to Friday, with the highest footfall recorded between 14:00 and 15:00 pm, while visits decreased over the weekend. Most visitors utilized one or two specific spaces, frequently consulting the information desk for inquiries, checking out/returning items, or using the rest area for relaxation. The library stacks were used approximately twice as much as they were avoided. The most frequented subject areas were Philosophy(100), Religion(200), Social Sciences(300), Science(400), Technology(500), and Literature(800), with Literature(800) and Religion(200) displaying the most intersections with other areas. By categorizing users into five clusters based on space utilization patterns, we discerned varying objectives and subject interests, providing insights for future library service enhancements. Moreover, the study underscores the need to address the associated costs and privacy concerns when considering the broader application of AI camera analytics in library settings.

Busan Citizen Park has been taken as the research object in this paper to learn about the categories and types of resting facilities such as seats and Pergolas in the park and analyze the visitors' use patterns of bench and Pergolas. In addition, the analysis of the cultural features and preferences of bench and Pergolas will provide the basic data for the future design of resting facilities. After the research on the categories and types of bench and Pergolas and the evaluation factors through literature surveys, the type, location, and number of resting facilities including bench, Pergolas, sheds, etc. in the entire park have been investigated through field surveys. In addition, the behavioral map analysis has been created through the observation of the use patterns of bench and Pergolas in the morning and afternoon of each month, and the degree of preference and satisfaction of park bench and Pergolas has been grasped through questionnaires. The research results are as follows. Among the ten types of bench and Pergolas, the citizens like the mats and awnings + mats best. The environment is the most important factor for the mats with highest score, followed by the functional and regional factors. In addition, various activities such as eating in mats and sheds that block sunlight are Korean use patterns, which is very common in Korean daily life. These results show that bench and Pergolas in urban parks are not placed arbitrarily and the layout and design of bench and Pergolas should be completed based on behavior and preferences, which are influenced by cultural characteristics.

Libraries have recently sought to diversify their roles to meet the changing needs of local residents, while faithfully playing the library's original roles. The creation of a complex cultural space and the provision of services based on it are one of the ways to expand its role. In this study, a surveyed and analyzed the awareness of the complex cultural space of the library and the preference and awareness of the program operated in the complex cultural space by conducting a survey on the users of the library currently operating the complex cultural space. As a result, first, it was found that they preferred information space, education space, and rest space in space preference. On the other hand, community space and experience space showed low preference. Second, they prefer educational programs, exhibition programs, and performance programs that utilize complex cultural spaces, but experience programs and community programs have low preference. Therefore, it is necessary to operate the program by providing exhibitions and performance spaces while providing information and education spaces to users. The librarian should also promote the fact that library can be only the space of information and education, but also the space where culture, healing, experience and communication take place. In addition, libraries should strive to improve user awareness of library space.

Owing to global warming, heat waves have become stronger in the summer, and research on improving the thermal environment of green spaces, such as urban parks, is being conducted. On the other hand, studies on improving the urban thermal environment, which is changing due to the greening pattern and the intensity of the wind, are still insufficient. This study analyzed the temperature of the green spaces on campus to understand the factors affecting the temperature changes. After investigating the covering condition and planting form of the site, factors, such as temperature, humidity, wind direction, wind speed, and illuminance, were measured. The most influential factors on the temperature distribution are evapotranspiration and wind - induced heat transfer. The other major factors affecting the temperature change were the type of cover, wind velocity/wind direction, type of planting, shade / solar irradiance. In the type of cover, the plant was classified as low temperature, and the asphalt pavement was classified as high temperature. In wind speed, instantaneous temperature was reduced by 1.2 ℃ in southern wind, 0.7 ℃ in the westerly wind, 0.4 ℃ in the north wind and 0.5 ℃ in the east wind when a wind of 3.5m/s or more was blown.
