Background: The publicness concept in healthcare has been built to its social consensus relying on historical context, with the result that the meaning of publicness has a great diversity and heterogeneous nature in Korea. Thus it needs to be addressed to clarify the meaning and boundary of the publicness concept in healthcare, so as to discuss its social implication. Methods: In order to investigate whether or how the publicness concept is used in healthcare, we conducted a text network analysis in 779 news articles from 8 Korean daily newspapers over a recent 5-year period. Results: The publicness concept was closely related to medicine and medical institution, and formed a conceptual network with public health, medicine, welfare, patient, government, Jin-ju city, and health. Keywords relating publicness tended to be similar between four major newspapers; however, the association with Jin-ju city, government, and society was noticeable in Kyunghyang Shinmun and Hankyoreh, and so was patient and service in Dong-A Ilbo. Conclusion: Publicness and medicine was closely associated, and government seemed to remain as a main actor for public interest. Publicness was related with a variety of actors and values, with its expanded boundary. The different contexts of publicness by newspapers might reflect each ideological inclination. The textual importance of publicness was relatively low in part, which suggests that publicness was used in a loose sense or as a routine.

Early diagnosis of autism and intervention of medical treatment are very significant to develop specific social communication skill for children with autistic spectrum disorders (ASDs). But they have difficulties in medical treatment because of lack of a public welfare institution and special medical system. In particular, few children can access such treatment and the existing single-therapist clinics are inefficient with regard to cost and time. Therefore, new methods should be studied for developing various products, services, and systems for autistic children. This study discusses the potential use of an interactive design as assistive technology for such children. We utilize the experience gained in the collaborative design of the interactive therapy system (ITS). The key methods include a collaborative design with rapid interactive prototyping, heuristic evaluation, user-centered process, VR technology, tangible interface, and scenario-based contents. We applied these methods to the ITS and proved the efficiency of interactive design as an assistive technology through clinical experimentation.

Higher education has become a global phenomenon. Although existing research on the effects of education level have been carried out, most studies were conducted before the year 2000 in a western context. In addition, the research sample was collected mainly from the manufacturing and police sectors. Furthermore, previous studies did not consider various moderating variables. Therefore, this study investigated the direct effect of education level on job satisfaction and the moderating effect of the job position between them. To test the hypotheses, a cross sectional research design with data from a sample of 377 full-time nurses, medical technicians, and administrative staff in one hospital located in the Northern part of Kyunggi province was used. The results showed that the education level was positively related to job satisfaction and job position alleviated the positive relationship between the education level and job satisfaction.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate (1) job satisfaction, (2) general characteristics and (3) working fields of 57 physical therapists at public health centers in the Seoul Metropolitan area. Methods: We distributed questionnaires to 57 physical therapists and collected completed questionnaires from 51 We analyzed the data using frequency analysis, independent t-tests and analysis of variance. Results: The results were as follows; 1) General characteristics of participants were 68.6% female, 64.7% over 35 years old, 43.1% working over 10 years in the public health centers. 2) Most (56.8%) participants treated 20~29 patients a day 66.7% were regular staff members and 33.3% irregular ones. 3) Participants, who worked at the public health center and who worked at the Seoul Metropolitan affiliated organization, showed a sense of dignity about their job. 4) Regular staff members showed a higher satisfaction rate with interpersonal relations than irregular ones. Satisfaction in the work place was greatly increased in those over 40 years old. Conclusion: Because the number of patients who visit physical therapists in Seoul Metropolitan public health centers have been increasing, it is necessary to improve the level of satisfaction of physical therapists so that there will be better physical therapy services.

The objective of this study is to investigate financial integrity strategies for sustainable development of local public medical centers, and particularly focus on seeking ways to enhance its financial efficiency and publicness. The data which was collected from 33 local public medical centers was analyzed by Data Envelopment Analysis to measure its financial efficiency. Then, Matrix Analysis was used to examine the association of financial efficiency and publicness of local public medical centers with related factors. In the aspects of facilities and location, according to the results, the local public medical centers which have larger number of available hospital beds or located in bigger cities were examined to have higher degree of publicness. In the aspect of human resources, greater number of doctors made both financial efficiency and the degree of publicness decreased, whereas higher participation rate of educational program for doctors affects increasing its financial efficiency and publicness. Lastly, in the aspect of costs, higher labor, material, and administrative cost diminished financial efficiency, but enhanced the degree of publicness. Based on these results, this study concluded that enhancing the publicness of local public medical centers should be pursued by increasing the accessibility with better facilities and location, and also concurrently organizing rational expenditure structure with appropriate cost investment to the resources of local public medical centers. Also, it is necessary to enhance both financial efficiency and publicness simultaneously by improving the quality of health care services through the educational programs for medical staffs.

Big data is an important keyword in World's Fourth Industrial Revolution in public and private division including IoT(Internet of Things), AI(Artificial Intelligence) and Cloud system in the fields of science, technology, industry and society. Big data based on services are available in various fields such as transportation, weather, medical care, and marketing. In particular, in the field of sports, various types of bio-signals can be collected and managed by the appearance of a wearable device that can measure vital signs in training or rehabilitation for daily life rather than a hospital or a rehabilitation center. However, research on big data with vital signs from wearable devices for training and rehabilitation for baseball players have not yet been stimulated. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a system for baseball infield and outfield players, especially which can store and analyze the momentum measurement vital signals based on big data.

This paper aims to analyze the characteristics of BTL, and to propose the effective models connecting BTL and project finance, through the analysis of current state and case study of BTL. The main results of this study are as follows. Firstly, BTL business have been increasing fast, and most of projects are middle size projects below 100 billion Won. Nextly, key suggestions for improving BTL business model are analyzed, which are, first, risk allocation between public and private interests, second, improvement of method for selecting private investment consortium, and third, alleviation of long-term burden of local finance. Finally, effective models for connecting BTL and project finance, which are, first, model for using asset backed securities, second, model for dividing project corporations into construction corporation and operation corporation, and third, model for risk allocation between public and private interests.

Biometric technology is a technology for authenticating a user using the physical or behavioral features of the inherent characteristics of the individual. With the necessity and efficiency of the technology in the fields of finance, security, access control, medical welfare, inspection, and entertainment, the service range has been expanding. Biometrics using biometric information such as fingerprints and faces have been exposed to counterfeit and disguised threats and become a social problem. Recent studies using a bio-signal from the inside of the body other than the bio-information of the external body are being developed. This paper analyzes the recent research and technology of biometric systems using bio-signals, ECG, heart sounds, EEG, and EMG to present the skills needed for the development direction. In the future, utilizing the deep learning to build and analyze database to manage bio-signal based big data for the complex condition of individuals, biometrics technologies suitable for real time environment are expected to be researched.

Big Data is gathering all the attention from every business community. Pervasive use of machine-to-machine (M2M) applications and mobile devices bring an explosion of data. By analyzing this data, the private and public sectors can benefit in the areas of cost reduction and productivity. The Korean government is actively pursuing Big Data initiatives to promote its usage. This paper aims to select industries which fit for the development of Big Data with a verification of the experts. The analytic hierarchy process (AHP) is applied to systematically derive the opinion of more than 50 professionals. Medical / welfare, transportation / warehousing, information and communications / information security, energy, the financial sector have been identified as promising industries. The results can be utilized in developing Big Data best practices thus contributing industrial development.
