The aim of this research is to investigate the history of the public library movement and identify the achievements and limitation, finally looking for the significance and direction of the public library in the future. This research proves through the history of the public library movement that in the information era the public library can be one alternative in realizing the publicity and equality of knowledge and information of our society.

This study is on the reading movement of public library. The purpose of this study is to provide who and how to campaign reading for library users. In conclusion, I'd like to claim that the dean of public library have to make efforts first and the librarians also have to develop various programs for library users continually.

This Study analyzes the present's children library movement. For this, this research deals with 'Library Movement of Miracle' by Citizen Action for Reading Culture. 'Mini-Library Making Movement in Bucheon' and 'Children Mini-Library Movement' by a variety of Nongovernmental organizations. The writer looks into contents, characteristics, meanings and limitations of these Movements. In conclusion, the writer suggests the direction of children library movement in the future.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the public library movement developed from Liberation to the Korean War and to identify the causes and the progress of the movement in the context of library history in Korea. For this, the circumstances in the Korean library world and the process of the public library movement from 1945 to 1950 are reviewed. Finally the result and the limit of the movement are evaluated as well.

1992년 영국에서 시작된 영아독서운동인 북스타트(Bookstart)가 2003년 우리나라에 도입되어 몇몇 지자체들을(서울 중랑구, 서울 중구, 인천 연수구, 전남 순천시) 중심으로 시행되고 있는 가운데, 공공도서관을 기반으로 한 북스타트 운동이 울산남부도서관(관장 고경희)에서 전국 최초로 시작되었다. 도서관은 이를 계기로 지난 1월 26일 도서관 1층에 40평 규모의 영ㆍ유아자료실을 새롭게 마련하고, 북스타트 운동의 확산에 힘을 기울이고 있다. 도서관의 북스타트 운동은 지역주민들의 호응을 얻어 관련 예산이 10배 가량 증액되는 성과를 얻었으며, 담당자는 이 운동에 관심을 갖고 사업을 준비하려는 전국 공공도서관의 문의에 답하느라 요즘 정신이 없다고 한다. 적은 예산과 인원으로 현상 유지도 빠듯한 요즈음, 새로운 프로그램 도입을 개척해나가는 도서관 운동가들의 열정에 경의를 표한다.

This study aims to investigate present situations and problems of local Bookstart program, difficulties faced by local organizations in the course of them implementing the program, and awareness on institutional support system, and ultimately propose strategies for its activation. In particular, considering that public libraries with easier access to babies having highly limited mobility and accessability should be the base of the program, the essay focuses on strategies of its activation for public libraries.

We have to enhance the specialization of children's room librarian in the public library.

This study focuses on the collaboration among public libraries and communities through 'One Book, One City' reading campaign. This study introduced the meaning and trend of 'One Book, One City' program on the world. And this study also suggests the ideas for the collaboration among public libraries and communities making use of this reading campaign; activation of reading campaign, building library network, establishing partnership model between private and public sectors.
