  • This study was conducted to examine the effects of the elderly patient's simulation experience on attitudes toward elderly and elderly patients, and empathy of elderly patients among nursing students. Study results showed that elderly patient's simulation experience did not have significant effects on attitudes toward elderly or elderly patients, whereas it had significant effect on enhancing the empathy on elderly patients. The subjects of experimental group indicated that the factors decreasing the effect of intervention are single event of experience, raising aging anxiety, lack of the reality of simulation clothing, and risk of accident during simulation experience, etc. In order to maximize the positive effects of the elderly patient's simulation program, it is necessary to find a way to improve those limiting factors identified from this study, and to continue to work on positive effects of elderly simulation applied for their curriculum.

  • As the globalisation of corporate's managemental environment, all parts of logistics such as procurement, production and sales are globalized. The ways of transportation in Korea and Japan, where are difficult to use land-transportation, are sea-transportation and air-transportation. Sea & air is a way of the international transportation which is combined by Sea and Air to reduce the transportation fee and shorten the delivery time. The main body of multimodal transportation service is the corporate, actual carrier who undertakes the actual transport. It is essential to establish service quality to maintain their going concern. In other words, the actual carrier has to emphasize the importance of service quality to forwarder tan any other business conditions. In this study, we examine the determinants of service quality for actual carrier in multimodal transportation. Through the multi-regression analysis based on SERVPERF by Cronin and Taylor (1992), we analyze the service quality dimensions of actual carrier. Also we examine the relations between the determinants and customer's satisfaction. Using statistical hypothesis testing, the determinants of service quality are reliability, responsiveness, assurance, tangibles, and we could look into the factors which the actual carrier should control with priority.

  • Overseas Urban Development is even risky although it is desirable for market-seeking developed countries and developing countries facing urbanization problems. Both sides do not know each other well so that they cannot trust each other to work on this risky projects. This study constructs a frame, which is enhancing trust between developed and developing countries. The first step is to start from small collaborations than a huge project. At the charismatic position, a enterprise from developed country proceeds its first work with its most advanced skills, cooperating with developing countries. By localization with executing projects smaller and easier than urban development project, like constructing facility or buildings, this enterprise can get closer to native elites and get to be supported from native people. And then, they can start huge urban development project. The study begins with trust theory, adding case studies contributing to constructing Cooperative Overseas Urban Development Frame. Five cases were studied and applied by the international urban development framework.

  • The purpose of this paper is to present a solution to the conflict when hydrogen energy is used for national energy transition through design thinking methodology. Research shows that design thinking enables joint design of policies for hydrogen energy transition between government and stakeholders. This is a macro approach based on empathy and cooperation, and can form consensus on the policy design process in the early stages. Starting with an understanding of hydrogen energy conflicts, ideas can be found based on the experiences gained from conflicts of stakeholders, disputes or lawsuits. And based on this, additional ideas on hydrogen energy transition will be verified the realization of the ideas. Collaboration with stakeholders to improve conflicts can create new values. In the process of reconfiguring the definition of energy transition problems, the opinions of stakeholders can be integrated with continuous empathy. Through design thinking methodology, we can integrate opinions of stakeholders and prevent conflicts.

  • This study is an example of a Cinema Therapy class through the movie Life of Pi (2013). Cinema Therapy proceeds through the process of identification, empathy, projection, and observational learning through the cinema. Through research, students objectively examine the situation of the characters in the movie, identify themselves, and empathize with them. Students evaluate the situation of the character in the movie, and indirectly experience the hardships facing the character in the movie through the answer to "What would you do if I were the main character?" and think about what they would do. I admire the outstanding points of the main character and reflect on my life. Through this process, students examine the situation of their emotions and problems and specifically suggest ways to solve them. In the end, students' emotions can be fully healed through the movie. Healing through the cinema should start with the selection of the cinema in consideration of the healer's client. It is also necessary to sufficiently present a specific method of applying this. It is expected that the cinema healing plan will be able to develop further by presenting various healing methods in the future.

  • Purpose: This study is a descriptive research study to identify the relationship between the experience of verbal abuse, compassion fatigue, and work engagement among nurses in the emergency unit. Methods: Study subjects were 107 nurses working in a university hospital in Gyeonggi-Do. The instruments used were a verbal abuse checklist, a subscale of the Professional Quality of Life Scale used to measure compassion fatigue, and the Utrecht Work Engagement Scale. The data were analyzed using the IBM SPSS version 22.0 program for independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, and Pearson's correlation coefficients. Results: Emergency nurses experienced more verbal abuse and compassion fatigue than nurses in other departments, and the level of work engagement was low. There was a positive correlation between experience of verbal abuse and compassion fatigue and a negative correlation between both of these variables and work engagement. Particularly, verbal abuse appeared in the order of nurses, patients & caregivers, and doctors. This means there were serious problems with communication with nurses. Conclusion: In order to reduce verbal abuse, it is necessary to establish a communication culture of mutual respect between nurses, medical staff, patients & caregivers. Moreover, a compassion fatigue management program is needed to reduce emotional fatigue.

  • The heuristics accumulated in the field activities of firefighters were reviewed through big data analysis of fire occurrences in Gyeonggi-do and researched to be utilized for proper fire prevention activities according to time, day, and target through quantitative modeling. Empirical rules with high sympathy were collected through direct interviews with firefighters. Among them, the rule of thumb that "Friday is the most fire-prone" is considered to be the most important in terms of fire monitoring and prediction. A big data comparison analysis was conducted, including the number of fires and damages that occurred in Gyeonggi-do in 2018. Furthermore, fire occurrence patterns by region, day of the week, time of day, and building type were derived. Regarding empirical rules that have been validated through research, relatively inexperienced firefighters also can make decisions by relying on refined quantitative predictive modeling and empirical rules including local government and time-based factors that reflect big fire occurrence data.

  • This study attempts to suggest a model on the factors of the experiential intent. We propose a model that includes (1) the entertainment, aesthetic, empathy, information as exogenous constructs, (2) utilitarian value and hedonic value, as mediating constructs (3) experiential intent, as endogenous construct. To test the model, we analyze the data using the LISREL structural modeling. The results of our analyses suggest, as expected, that program traits -entertainment, aesthetic, empathy, information- influence utilitarian value and hedonic value, in turn, utilitarian value and hedonic value influence the experiential intent. We conclude with a discussion of managerial implications, including the potential to advance understanding the factors of experiential intent on broadcast program.
