A Study on Hydro-mechanical Behaviors of Rock Joints using Rotary Shear Testing Apparatus (회전식 전단시험기를 이용한 암석절리의 수리-역학적 거동에 관한 연구)

  • To characterize the hydro-mechanical behavior of a rock joint, a rotary shear testing apparatus was devised in this study. Shear stress was driven by twisting the end of a sample in the rotary shear testing apparatus. The test results show that the rotary shear test underestimates the peak shear strength of a rock joint. The torque is known as a function of the radial distance from the axis of rotation, resulting in the radial variation of the shear stress. Fluid flow through rock joints is mainly dependent on the Joint roughness, contact area, initial aperture. To examine the dependency, the relationship between the hydraulic and the mechanical apertures for shear-flow was established by measuring the initial aperture. It shows that the mechanical aperture and the hydraulic aperture increase linearly with the dilatancy. The difference between the hydraulic and mechanical apertures describes the deviation from the behavior predicted by the parallel plate model.

  • 지반오염조사에 대한 유전상수 측정기법의 적용성을 평가하기 위하여 중금속 오염도에 따른 흙의 유전특성 변화를 분석하였다. 유전상수의 실수부와 허수부 모두 체적함수비에 따른 증가경향을 나타내었으며, 특히 MHz 범위에서 유전상수 실수부는 쌍극자모멘트에 비례하기 때문에 흙의 유전상수는 체적함수비에 따른 선형적인 증가경향을 나타내었다. 중금속 용액은 50kHz 이하의 저주파영역에서 전극 분극효과에 의해 농도 증가에 따라 유전상수 실수부가 증가하는 경향을 나타내었으나, 고주파 영역에서는 이온의 수화작용에 의한 물분자의 배향분극 발현 감소로 인하여 유전상수 실수부가 감소하였다. 유전상수 허수부의 경우에는 모든 주파수 영역에서 중금속 농도 증가에 따른 전도손실에 의하여 증가하는 경향을 나타내었다. 흙과 중금속 혼합시료의 경우 함수비가 큰 시료에서는 중금속 용액 자체의 유전특성이 그대로 발현되었으나, 함수비가 작은 시료에서는 공간전하분극의 영향이 우세하여 유전상수 실수부가 10-20%정도 증가하는 경향을 나타내었다. 유전상수 허수부의 경우에는 중금속 농도 증가에 따른 뚜렷한 증가경향을 확인할 수 있었다. 본 연구의 결과에 의하면 중금속의 오염감지에 대해서는 유전상수 실수부보다는 허수부의 적용성이 높은 것으로 나타났으며, 현장에서의 정확한 오염도 평가를 위해서는 함수비에 대한 평가가 선행되어야 할 것으로 판단된다.

  • Leaky wave radiation and surface wave launching problems in a dielectrically covered and periodically slitted parallel-plate waveguide(PPW) are considered for the TEM wave incidence case. Both the infinite and finite periodic geometries are analyzed by use of the method of moments. Some numerical results for the reflected and transmitted powers in the PPW, radiation efficiency into the free space, surface wave launching efficiency into the slab, antenna gain, and radiation patterns against dielectric thickness are presented to show the effect of the dielectric cover on the performances of the slitted leaky wave antenna. In addition, the method for improving surface wave launching efficiency using the proposed periodic geometry is described and maximum launching efficiency of 97.5% is obtained theoretically. So this structure is thought to be promising as an efficient feeder of dielectric grating antenna as well as image guide.

Development of the Manipulator of a Cucumber Robotic Harvester (오이 로봇 수확을 위한 매니퓰레이터 개발)

  • In this study, a robotic manipulator for harvesting cucumber was developed. The objective of this research was to design and to construct a robotic manipulator specifically tailored to harvest cucumber in the greenhouse. The system was consisted of an integrated end-efffctor, an image processing system and a controlling system. Especially, the image processing system detected the quality of cucumber within each plant in order for the computer to furnish harvest instructions to the manipulator. In all tests of cucumber, the success rate for cucumber harvest was 84% in the greenhouse. End-effector, image processing system and controlling system showed good performance. Based on the results of this research the following recommendations are made for further study. Besides harvesting cucumbers, the oldest leaves, creepers and the youngest small side leaves need to be removed.

  • Current design codes regulate the minimum torsional reinforcement requirement for reinforced concrete members to prevent their brittle failure. The minimum torsional reinforcement ratio specified in the current national code and ACI318-11, however, have problems in the minimum longitudinal reinforcement ratio for torsion, the equilibrium condition in space truss model, and a marginal strength, etc. Thus, in order to overcome such shortcomings, this study presents a rational equation for minimum torsional reinforcement ratio that can provide a sufficient margin of safety in design. The minimum torsional reinforcement ratio proposed in this study was compared to the test results available in literature, and it was confirmed that it gave a proper margin of safety for all specimens studied in this paper.

  • This study was performed to identify the presence of measurement distortions such as electrode polarization and to investigate the influence of soil water content on complex permittivity at low frequency. In low frequency measurement using two-terminal electrode system, electrode polarization effect was observed at frequencies less than approximately 100 HBz. The analysis for real permittivity should be performed at frequencies above 100 kHz in order to exclude electrode polarization effect in the analysis of real permittivity at low frequency measurements. For a given soil, both of real and effective imaginary permittivity of wet soil increased continuously with volumetric water content. This is evidenced by the facts that the real permittivity is proportional to the number of dipole moments per unit volume and effective imaginary permittivity is effected by the conduction due to water. However, proportional relation between real permittivity and volumetric water content is valid at upper MHz frequencies.

National Nonstationary Frequence Analysis Using for Gumbel Distribution (Gumbel 분포를 이용한 전국의 비정상성 빈도 해석)

  • 본 연구는 우리나라 전국 기상관측소 중 1973년부터 2009년까지의 시 강수자료가 구축되어 있는 기상관측소 55개 지점에 대하여 비정상성 빈도해석을 수행하였다. 각 지점에 대하여 지속시간 1시간, 24시간에 대한 연 최대 강수량 자료를 구축하여 초기 20년을 기준으로 1년씩 추가한 연 최대 강수량 누적 자료를 생성하고, 생성된 기간별 자료의 평균, 위치매개변수, 축척매개변수를 산정하였으며, 위치매개변수와 축척매개변수는 확률가중모멘트법을 사용하여 산정하였다. 산정된 연 최대 평균 누적 강수량과 연도와의 선형 회귀식을 산정하여 목표연도별(2040, 2070, 2100년) 평균 강수량을 산정하였고, 위치매개변수와 축척매개변수도 평균 누적 강수량과의 선형 회귀식을 산정함으로써, 목표연도에 해당하는 각 매개변수를 산정하였다. 또한 산정된 목표연도별 평균 강수량, 위치매개변수와 축척매개변수를 이용해 확률강수량을 산정하였다. 비정상성 빈도해석을 수행하여 산정된 55개 지점에 대한 목표연도별 확률강수량을 Inverse Distance Weighted(IDW) 보간법을 사용하여 전국의 확률강수량을 공간적으로 표현하였다. 전국단위의 비정상성 빈도해석을 실시한 결과, 전체적으로 각 목표연도별 확률강수량이 증가하는 것으로 나타났으나, 일부 감소하는 지역도 나타났다. 경기도와 강원도 등 중부지역에서 확률강수량의 증가가 큰 것으로 나타났으며, 특히 강원도(강릉, 인재 등) 지역에서 확률강수량의 증가폭이 가장 크게 나타났다. 또한 남해지역에서는 대부분 확률강수량이 감소하는 것으로 나타났고, 그중에서 전라남도 남해안 부근(장흥 등)에 확률강수량의 감소가 가장 크게 나타났으며, 경북지역과 전북지역 부근에서는 증가 또는 감소의 차이가 미비하게 나타났다. 하지만 목표연도 2070년과 2100년에 대하여 산정된 확률강수량으로부터 선형 회귀식을 통해 목표연도별 평균 강수량, 위치매개변수, 축척매개변수를 추정하여 확률강수량을 산정하는 것에 한계가 있음을 보여주었다.

  • It is matter of common knowledge to give impetus to the water resources development to cope with increasing demand and supply for the water utilization project including agricultural living and industrial water owing to the economic and civilization development in recent years. Regional design rainfall is necessary or the design of the dam reservoir levee and drainage facilities for the development of various kinds of essential waters including agricultural water. For the estimation of the regional design rainfall classification of the climatologically an geographically homogeneous regions should be preceded preferentially This study was mainly conducted to derive the optimal regionalization of the precipitation data which can be classified by the climatologically and geographically homogeneous regions all over the regions except Cheju and Wulreung islands in Korea. A total of 65 rain gauges were used to regional analysis of precipitation. Annual maximum series for the consecutive durations of 1, 3, 6, 12, 24, 36, 48 and 72hr were used for various statistical analysis. Both K-means clustering and mean annual precipitation methods are used to identify homogeneous regions all over the regions. Nine and five homogeneous regions for the precipitation were classified by the K-means clustering and mean annual methods, respectively. Finally, Five homogeneous regions were established by the trial and error method with homogeneity test using statistics of $\chi$$^2$ distribution.

  • Concrete filled steel tube structures were recently used in constructing high-rise buildings due to their effectiveness. Studies on concrete filled steel tubes have been focused on the experiments of uni-axial compression and bending and eccentric compression. There were also a few studies that investigated CFT member behavior under combined compression and torsion. The behavior of a circular CFT column under combined torsion and compression was theoretically investigated, considering the confinement of steel tubes on the concrete, the softening of the concrete, and the spiral effect, which were the dominant factors that influenced compression and torsion strength. The biaxial stress effects due to diagonal cracking were also taken into account. By applying those factors to compatibility and equilibrium conditions, the basic equation was derived, and the equation could be used to incorporate the torsional behavior of the entire loading history of the CFT member.

A Preliminary Design for Hybrid Building System with Progressive Collapse Prevention Means (연속붕괴가 방지된 초고층 복합빌딩시스템의 예비설계)

  • In this study, we propose an innovative lateral force distribution building system between tall buildings by utilizing the difference of moment of inertia, resulting the reduction of lateral displacement and the lateral forces in terms of an alternative for the dense human and increased cost of lands in highly integrated city area. A successive collapse prevention means by providing additional bearing plate between connections is proposed. In addition to that, a more economical vibration reduction is expected due to the suggested tuned mass damper on the surface of spacial structure. In the considered verification examples, reduced drifts at the top location of the building systems are validated against static wind pressure loads and static earthquake loads. The suggested hybrid building system will improve the safety and reliability of the new or existing building system in terms of more than 30% reduced drift and vibration through the development of convergence of tall buildings and spatial structures.
