Business Models Considering Recycling of Footwear (신발의 재활용을 고려한 비즈니스 모델)

  • In this paper, a business model for recycling of shoes that has been landfilled and incinerated despite the existence of the remaining life of shoes has been proposed. Element and framework was derived to construct a business model for shoe recycling. Based on the derived elements and framework, the business model suggested will be able to build up a new business area in the footwear industry, and it can minimize consumer's household spending and reduce environmental pollution caused by landfill and incineration.

Selection of Rice Cultivars Adaptable to Top Rice Cultivation Region in Southern Part of Korea (남부지방 탑라이스 재배지역에 알맞은 벼 품종 선발)

  • The experiment was carried out to select the rice cultivar adaptable to Top Rice cultivation region from 2006 to 2007 in Useong and Kyeongju, Korea. Four cultivars, recommended for high rice grain quality, were cultivated in the different region in this study. The average yield of head rice was higher in Samguangbyeo than the other three cultivars. The protein content was inversely associated with palatability (Toyo value). The protein content of Samguangbyeo was 6.2%, which was the lowest among the tested cultivars. L values in color of rice and cooked rice were not significantly different. The hardness of Samguangbyeo was lower than that of the other cultivars in texture properties of boiled rice on 4 cultivars. In conclusion,considering the rice yield and grain qualities, Samguangbyeo was selected as promising rice cultivar for Top Rice cultivation region.

질화규소 삽입층을 이용한 a면 질화갈륨 박막의 깊은 준위 연구

  • 질화갈륨 기반의 III족-질화물 계열의 반도체 물질은 녹색-자외선 영역의 발광다이오드에 응용되어 왔으며 고효율, 고휘도 발광소자의 구현 및 성능 향상을 위해 많은 연구가 진행되었다. 일반적으로 널리 사용되어온 c축 방향으로 성장된 질화갈륨 기반 발광다이오드에서는 활성층의 에너지 밴드구조가 내부전기장에 의해 변형되어 전자와 정공의 재결합 확률이 저하된다. c축 방향으로 형성되는 내부전기장은 축방향으로의 자발적 분극화와 높은 압전 분극 현상에 기인한다. 이와 같은 분극 성장에서의 내부양자효율 저하 현상을 해결하기 위하여 내부 전기장이 존재하지 않는 a축과 m축과 같은 무분극 방향으로의 성장이 집중적으로 연구되고 있다. 현재 사파이어 기판위에서 무분극 성장된 박막은 높은 밀도의 결함이 발생하여 고품위의 발광다이오드 동작에 어려움을 겪고 있다. 최근 결함 밀도를 낮추고 높은 결정성을 갖는 무분극 질화갈륨 박막을 성장하기 위하여 2-단계 성장 방법, 나노구조층 삽입, 산화규소 마스크 패턴 등 다양한 성장 방법들이 연구되어 주목할 만한 연구 결과들이 보고되고 있다. 다양한 성장 방법들에 의해 성장된 박막들은 고유한 특성들을 보이는데, 특히 박막 성장방법에 따라 박막 내부에 형성되는 깊은 준위의 특성들은 발광다이오드의 소자 특성에도 큰 영향을 미치게 되므로 무분극 박막에서의 깊은 준위에 대한 연구가 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 금속-유기 화학기상증착 방법으로 r면의 사파이어기판 위에 a면의 질화갈륨을 성장시켰다. 고품질의 결정성을 구현하기 위해 저온 핵형성층, 3차원 성장층, 2차원 중간온도 성장층, 2차원 성장층의 4개 버퍼층을 사용하였으며, 질화규소 나노구조층을 삽입함으로써 고품 위의 a면 질화갈륨 박막을 구현하였다. 성장된 a면 질화갈륨 박막에 형성된 깊은 준위들은 접합용량과도분광법을 이용하여 분석되었으며 질화규소 삽입층의 유무에 따른 깊은 준위의 특성 차이에 대한 연구를 수행하였다.

A Study on Cross Member Strength Improvement of Korean Light Tactical Vehicle (한국형 전술차량 크로스멤버 강도개선에 관한 연구)

  • The chassis of the Korean light tactical vehicle adopts a frame-on-body structure that uses lightweight design technology in terms of equipment operating characteristics. Military vehicles are operated in much harsher conditions compared to civilian vehicles, including mountainous terrain, especially steep slopes. Due to this characteristic, frame-welded cracks were found on some military vehicles. Therefore, in this paper, road damage analysis was conducted by identifying various roads including the military unit's road. The result confirmed that the operating environment of some military units' tactical road was much harsher than the endurance road test condition. A solution was derived through defect analysis, design review, and actual vehicle driving test. This study can be used as a reference by suggesting the development direction for the durability test of a new vehicle.

Comparison of Yield and Quality Characteristics on Mid-Late Maturing Rice Cultivars in Major Cultivation Areas of Gangwon Province (강원도 주요 농업지대별 중만생종 벼 품종의 쌀 수량 및 품질특성 비교)

  • Rural Development Administration has recently developed mid-late maturing rice cultivars with high quality. This study was conducted to select suitable mid-late maturing rice cultivar in major cultivation areas of Gangwon Province among domestic breeding cultivars for 2 years from 2013 to 2014. The average air temperature during the experiment in 2013 and 2014 was higher $0.6{\sim}1.1^{\circ}C$ in Chuncheon, $1.0{\sim}1.3^{\circ}C$ in Gangreung, and $0.1{\sim}0.7^{\circ}C$ in Cheolwon than normal year. Precipitation in ripening period was higher 52.5 mm in 2013, but lower 176.4 mm in 2014 than normal year in Chuncheon, lower 103.1 mm in 2013 and higher 42.9 mm in 2014 in Gangreung, lower 225.9~322.7 mm in Cheolwon. Duration of sunshine in ripening period was higher 142 hours in Chuncheon, 108 hours in Gangreung, and 94 hours in Cheolwon than normal year in 2013, higher 20~21 hours in Chuncheon and Gangreung, and 82 hours in Cheolwon than normal year in 2014. Milled rice yield of 'Samgwangbyeo' and 'Daebobyeo' was 594 kg per 10a, and 578 kg for 'Jinsumibyeo' in Chuncheon in plain area. For Gangreung in east coastal area, the yield of 'Daebobyeo' was 555 kg per 10a, 'Hopumbyeo' was 554 kg, and 'Chilbobyeo' was 546 kg. For Cheolwon in mid-mountainous area, the yield was 504 kg per 10a for 'Daebobyeo' and 489 kg for 'Haiamibyeo'. But there was no difference in milled rice yield among cultivars tested in the study at each area. Head rice ratio of 'Haiamibyeo', 'Jinsumibyeo', and 'Mipumbyeo' in Chuncheon was 94.2~95.6% higher than the other cultivars. In Gangreung head rice ratio of 'Hopumbyeo', 'Haiamibyeo', and 'Samgwangbyeo' were 85.2~88.3% but there was no difference among cultivars except 'Gopumbyeo' and broken rice ratio of 'Haiamibyeo', 'Samgwangbyeo', and 'Mipumbyeo' were low as 7.5~8.5% and palatability of 'Mipumbyeo' was higher than the other cultivars. Head rice ratio of 'Daebobyeo' was the highest as 89.2% and there was no difference in broken and chalky rice ratio and palatability among cultivars in Cheolwon. Considering rice yield and quality in major cultivation areas of Gangwon Province, suitable mid-late maturing rice cultivars were 'Samgwangbyeo', 'Haiamibyeo', and 'Jinsumibyeo' in Chuncheon, 'Daebobyeo' and 'Chilbobyeo' in Gangreung, and 'Daebobyeo' and 'Haiamibyeo' in Cheolwon. The results obtained in the study imply that the selected cultivars with high yield and quality and suitability to Chuncheon, Gangreung, and Cheolwon, respectively could be recommended to rice cultivating farmers in the regions with high priority.

Viviparous Germination Characteristics of Rice Varieties Adaptable to Central Region of Korea (중부지역 적응 주요 벼 품종의 수발아 특성)

  • Varietal differences on viviparous germination of newly released rice varieties were investigated to provide selection criteria for the high quality rice production. Laboratory and field tests were conducted on 20 different rice varieties in 2007. Varieties which showed below 10% of viviparous germination at the laboratory test were Odaebyo, Hitomebore, Koshihikari, Hwasungbyo, Hopyongbyo, Ilpumbyo, Chuchungbyo when they were treated 35 days after heading (DAH) at the temperature of 25/$15^{\circ}C$ (day/night) for 8 days, and were Hitomebore, Koshihikari, Hwasungbyo, Hopyongbyo under diurnal temperature of 30/$20^{\circ}C$ (day/night). At the field test with artificial lodging, there were 12 varieties including Hopyongbyo, Hitomebore that showed lower viviparous germination below 10% when they were treated at 35DAH and measured 8 days after lodging treatment but there was only four varieties (Ilpumbyo, Hwasungbyo, Chuchungbyo, Hopyongbyo) when lodging treatment was made at the 45DAH. Among newly released rice varieties, viviparous germination rate of Hopyongbyo was below 10% and was 11 to 20% at Hithomebore and Samgwangbyo, 21 to 40% at Koshihikari, Odae-No.1, Josaengheukchalbyo, Chonghobyo, 41 and 60% at Suean-No.1, Whongwangbyo, Bosukchalbyo, and 61 to 90% at Gopumbyo when it was examined 8 days after lodging treatment at 45DAH.

Relationship between Palatability and Physicochemical Properties of Carbohydrate Components in Rice Endosperm (쌀 배유 조성 탄수화물 특성과 식미와의 연관성)

  • Eight varieties of milled rice showing different palatabilities were studied in order to identify the relationship between physicochemical properties of carbohydrate components and their fine structure. Gopumbyeo showed the highest palatability value among the eight varieties tested. Both peak viscosity and breakdown were hightest in Hitomebore, and lowest in Mihyangbyeo. No relationship was indicated between the palatability and gelatinization properties. The amylose content of starch showed a significant difference among the varieties tested. However, no relationship was found between the structure of amylose and the palatability of milled rice. The degree of branching(B/A value) was highest in Saechucheongbyeo, and lowest in Palgongbyeo in fine structure of amylopectin. But no relationship was indicated between the B/A values and the palatability of milled rice. Difference was indicated in properties of gelatinization of starch by differential scanning calorimetry. The enthalphy for gelatinization showed a significant difference among the varieties. However, no relationship was found between the enthalphy for gelatinization and the palatability of milled rice. Monosaccharide in endosperm was composed of rice were compound of rhamnose, fucose, ribose, arabinose, and xylose. The total content of monosaccharides was highest in Saechucheongbyeo, and lowest in Palgongbyeo. However, 7 varieties of milled rice, expect Palgongbyeo, showed no relationship between the palatability and monosaccharides contents.

A Study on Quality Improvement through Analysis of Hub-reduction Failure Occurrence Mechanism for Military Vehicles (군용차량 허브리덕션 고장 메커니즘 분석을 통한 품질개선 연구)

  • For the tactical vehicles operated by the Korean army, the hub-reduction portal axle was applied considering Korea's topographical characteristics. Hub-reduction was applied to a Korean military vehicle to increase the vehicle body to secure ground clearance and improve the driving capability on rough roads, such as unpaved and field land by increasing the torque. The Korean military is operating tactical vehicles after various performance tests, including durability driving, but wheel damage occurred in one of the vehicles operating in the front units. Failure analysis revealed many damaged parts, including the hub, making it difficult to determine the cause. Therefore, an analysis of the failure occurrence mechanism for each damaged part was conducted, which confirmed that the cause of wheel breakage was a hub. Furthermore, the root cause of the hub breakage was a crack due to internal pores and foreign matters. In addition, a realistic improvement plan that can be applied throughout the design, manufacture, and shipping stages was presented using the fishbone diagram analysis. The derived improvement plan was verified through unit performance tests, including CAE and actual vehicle tests, and by reflecting this, the driving safety of Korean tactical vehicles was improved. Finally, it is expected that the proposed method for analyzing the failure occurrence mechanism will be used as reference material when analyzing the quality problems of similar military vehicles in the future.

Analysis of Genetic Variation in Pre-Harvest Sprouting at Different Cumulative Temperatures after Heading of Rice (벼 출수 후 적산온도에 따른 수발아 발생의 품종간 차이 및 변이 분석)

  • Pre-harvest sprouting (PHS) refers to seed germination during ripening, due to loss of dormancy before harvest. As PHS in rice causes decrease in grain yield and quality, tolerance to PHS is an important trait of Japonica cultivars in Korea. It is important to investigate the related genes and environmental factors, because PHS is a quantitative trait. In this study, we examined PHS rates at three different times according to the cumulative daily mean temperature after heading (CTAH) for 5 rice cultivars released in Korea for 5 years from 2013 to 2017 to determine the effect of environmental factors on PHS. ABA content in ripening spikelets was analyzed to understand how it was related to PHS tolerance. PHS rate increased as CTAH increased from $800^{\circ}C$ to $1200^{\circ}C$. PHS rate was significantly different (p < 0.001) among the cultivars, showing Dasanbyeo, Jounbyeo, and Nampyeongbyeo to be PHS-tolerant, and Jopyeongbyeo and Gopumbyeo to be susceptible at all the CTAH of 800, 1000, and $1200^{\circ}C$. In 2015 and 2016, PHS rates were relatively higher, because of high temperature and frequent rainfall during the ripening period. In each cultivar, ABA content decreased as CTAH increased from $800^{\circ}C$ to $1200^{\circ}C$. However, there was no significant correlation between ABA content and PHS tolerance among the cultivars.

Mechanical Quality Evaluation of Rice Cultivars That Could Potentially be Used to Produce Processed Cooked Rice (주요 쌀 품종의 가공밥 이용을 위한 기계적 취반품질 평가)

  • The objective of this study was to evaluate the mechanical quality of cultivars that could potentially be used to processed cooked rice. Proximate composition, amylose content, cooking quality, and the Toyo value, were higher in Jungsaenggold than in the other cultivars. The results showed that the crude protein contents of the rice cultivars were between 4.60 and 6.59%. The amylose content was the highest in the Haedam cultivar (21.36%), but was the lowest in the Jungsaenggold cultivar (17.11%). Cooking quality was the highest in the Haiami and Jungsaenggold cultivar. Texture analyzer test showed that Ilpum had the lowest hardness and highest stickiness. Significant differences in the palatability characteristics (Toyo results for glossiness quality) of the rice flour were recorded using a Toyo Meter Analyzer. Ilpum, Samkwang, Haiami and Jungsaenggold had low amylose contents and the highest Toyo values. Thus, the results of this study suggested that Jungsaenggold can be effectively used to produce processed cooked rice.
