  • 발전소에 설치된 대용량 발전기는 고정자 권선을 지지하기 위해 축 방향으로 삽입된 슬롯 Wedge의 지지압력이 느슨해지면 절연파괴와 같은 각종 사고가 발생할 수 있다. 이를 예방하기 위해 주기적으로 Wedge 조임 상태를 점검하고 있으나 그동안 작업자의 손가락 감각으로 평가하던 방법을 가속도 진동 센서를 이용하여 주파수 스펙트럼을 분석함으로써 발전기 고정자 Wedge 조임 상태를 객관적으로 판정할 수 있도록 방법을 고안하였다.

  • Recently the demand for natural gas as clean and safe energy due to concerns about global warming and interests in green ship is increasing. The dual fuel(DF) engine, one of environmentally friendly engines, is preferred for general merchant ships and power plants as well as LNG carriers. This is for the reasons of having higher efficiency and lower nitrogen and sulfur oxides emissions by operating on LNG fuel with a small amount of light fuel oil. In this study, the engine body vibration characteristics of 12V50DF in a generator set with engine-resilient-mounted, generator-rigid-mounted and flexible-coupling configuration are investigated through theoretical analysis and comprehensive vibration measurement. This analysis showed the dynamic behavior of engine excitation forces and seismic waves. And the suitable countermeasures for reducing vibration and safe operation are proposed.

  • Electric motor with reduction gear systems are being adopted recently as main propulsion on the special-purposed ships. These specialized ships or offshore vessels require higher power rating generators for propulsion and accommodation power supply. This study investigated the cause of exciter components failure in the view of excessive vibration, force or abnormal ship motion in service. Countermeasures are proposed to address the exciter component failure. A 1.4 MW class dual-fuel engine generator using rigid foundation for a LNG carrier was used as research model.

  • Commonly used horizontal-axis wind turbines (HAWT) have the following structure: two or three blades, a nacelle which contains power converting equipments, generators, and a tower which supports the nacelle. The generated power is transmitted from the nacelle to the ground. Due to this structure, the power transmission lines are twisted when the nacelle is yawing. Thus, slip ring or additional yaw control mechanism is required. We propose a new structure of HAWT which is free of this transmission line problem. Moreover, the size of inverter can be reduced since two generators are connected in parallel in our mechanism so that power is distributed. A controller for yawing is developed so that it works in harmony with the controller for power generation. A MPPT (Maximum Power Point tracking) algorithm is implemented for the proposed system and efficiency of the system is validated by simulation.

  • A solar photovoltaic system is composed of a module mounting structure, supporting trunk, and a control unit that supplies generated electrical power to an external power grid or a load. The efficiency of the system depends on the incident solar light, so the mounting structure is installed to face the sun. However, because the sun always moves, systems that track the sun have better efficiency than fixed systems. The structure experiences wind pressure, snow load, seismic load, and structure weight. The wind pressure has the most serious effect on the structure. The pressure was obtained using finite element method for various gaps between modules and angles between the panel and the ground. The wind pressure is lowest when the gap is zero, and it increases with the inclination angle. Based on the results, a mounting structure module was designed.
