We have synthesized a high electrically conductive 4-(2-(4-(acetylthio)phenyl)ethynyl)benzoic acid (APBA) with a conjugated aromatic structure as a bio fix linker, and then fabricated APBA self-assembled monolayer (SAM) with a self-assembly technique. The structure of the prepared APBA SAM was studied and electrochemical properties of APBA SAM immobilized with a ferrocene molecule were investigated. Also, we have examined the molecular orientation and oxidation-reduction redox characteristics of the mixed SAM consisting of APBA and butanethiol (BT) with a X-ray photo electron spectroscopy (XPS) and cyclicvoltammetry, respectively. Electrochemical activity of the mixed SAM was increased with increasing the mixed time. Especially, the maximum redox current was obtained at a mixed time of 36 hrs.
Human gastric adenocarcinomas are fixated with low energy of microwave (LEM) to study fixation effects in level of ultrastructure and antigenicity of the cancer. For the Ag-Ab reactions , the LEM fixated sdenocarcinomas are incorporated with monoclonal mouse anti-human p53 (IgG2b, kappa) and rabbit anti human cerbB-2. The retrieval of antigenicity are easily recognizable in the LEM fixated sections compared with that of frozen sections which show often diffused colour reactions. And the LEM fixation methods have preserved ultrastructures of the adenocarcinoma, but it was often difficult to maintain constancy in fixation effects. For the constancy, LEM was coupled with low concentration of chemical fixatives, such as glutaraldehyde (<1%) and $OsO_4$ (<0.5%). The results were acceptable, but there are tendencies that the adenocarcinoma requisitioned rather weak microwave energy to come into the optimal fixation effects. Therefore , cultured HeLa cells were fixated with lower energy of microwave than that used to the adenocarcinoma. The ultrastructures of the single HeLa cell have been preserved. The results may imply that a different energy levels of microwave are requisitioned in accordance with kinds of cells and tissues for the optimal fixation effects. It is reported and discussed that the fixation methods of LEM used in this work could be applied routinely to conceal a insufficient diffusion rate of chemical fixatives into some kinds of cancer without compromising the ultrastructures as well as to improve antigenic quality of frozen sections.

Since 2006, new national forest inventory in Korea has been restructured to assess current status and and monitor the changes in forest resources based on permanent sample plots. The objective of estimate this study is to assess changes in forest resources such as land use/cover categories and forest stand variables. For this study, permanent plot data were collected between 2006-2008 and 2011-2013 in Chungcheongbuk-do, respectively. In order to produce land use/cover change matrix which plays an important role as an activity data for estimating GreenHouse Gas inventory, permanent plots were classified into six land use/cover categories. Additionally, matrixes for assessing the changes in age class and dominant tree species can provide more detailed information. For forest stand variables(tree density, basal area, growing stock, mean diameter at breath height, and mean height), their growth and change were assessed. The periodic annual growth ratios for tree density and basal area were slightly declined whereas that of growing stock was estimated to be about 3.7%. The uncertainty of changes in forest stand variables is less than 5%, except for tree density (RSE: 58%). The variation of tree density is relatively high compared to the other variables.
Five soybean varieties of two early maturing ; Karikei 73 and ss 79168, and three late maturing ; Tohoku 76, Baegunkong and Jangbaegkong were used and evaluated in the study. Of the varieties examined, Karikei 73 was characterized by the delayed leaf senescence. To investigate the periodical trends of nitrogen in plant organs and their roles to the nitrogen fixing activity of root nodules, the concentrations of nitrogen in plant organs during the grain filling period were measured. High positive correlation was recognized between the amount of nitrogen in plant parts and p-ARA, suggesting the higher the activity of nitrogen fixation the greater the amount of nitrogen in plant. But the relationship between the concentration of nitrogen in plant and s-ARA was positive at R4. but negative at R6. This was inferred that the high concentration of nitrogen at R4 gave accelerating effects on s-ARA by increasing the activity of photosynthesis in leaf-blades, while the reduced activity of photosynthesis in leaf-blades at R6 resulted in continued degradation of nitrogenous compounds in plant, and then high concentration of nitrogen in plants brought reduced supply of sugars to nodules.
The implant-supported fixed dental prosthesis in irradiated maxilla needs meticulous treatment planning due to low bone healing capacity. All-on-4 concept implantation can reduce the number of implants to be placed avoiding bone grafting procedure. Conventionally, prefabricated angled abutments for tilted implants have been used. However, in this case, it was replaced with computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) abutment. This case report described all-on-4 concept implantation and fabrication of CAD/CAM zirconia fixed dental prostheses using CAD/CAM titanium abutments.
A number of experiments to treat wastewater of a dye plant were conducted to investigate the basic design parameters and effluent characteristics for aerobic fixed biofilm reactor upon the variation of organic loading rate. The media used for this study were SARAN 4000 D with specific surface area $153m^2/m^3$, and 1000 D with specific surface area $307m^2/m^3$. The influent COD concentration ranged from 1250 to 4080 mg/L. Substrate removal and variation of biomass concentration were observed. At the beginning, the effluent quality was poor but improved as the time passed. However the effluent quality became seriously deteriorated when the media clogged. At influent COD of 1250mg/L, the effluent COD varied little, even if the organic loading rate increased from 0.63 to 2.5kg COD/$m^3$/day. It was also noted that the design parameters for activated sludge process could be applied to an aerobic fixed biofilm process under the experimental conditions.
The conversion of cephalosporin C to 7$\alpha$-hydroxycephalosporin C was examined with the cell-free extract of several cephamycin producing strains. Streptomyces clavuligerus ATCC 27064 was the most potent strain for the activity of cephalosporin 7$\alpha$-hydroxylase. Partially purified and immobilized cephalosporin 7$\alpha$-hydroxylase with resins were used to synthesize 7$\alpha$-hydroxycephalosporin C from the substrate, cephalosporin C. The molecular weight of the product isolated from the reaction mixture were determined to be 431 by ESI-Mass. $^1H$ NMR also support the conversion of cephalosporin C to 7$\alpha$-hydroxycephalosporin C by immobilized enzyme.
The water-soluble polyphosphazene possessing ether side groups was exposed to ${\gamma}-rays$ to prepare hydrogens with good water-swellability. The physical strength of these hydrogels could be controlled by irradiation dose of ${\gamma}-rays$. Trypsin and water-soluble polyphosphazene were irradiated together by ${\gamma}-rays$ for entrapment of enzymes into hydrogel networks. The activities of immobilized trypsin were examined spectrophotometrically after the reaction with N-${\alpha}$-benzoyl-1-arginine-p-nitroanilide in phosphate buffer. The immobilized trypsin was found to have good activity yield and suability after at least 500 hours.
Polyurethanes containing L-lysine segments in the main chain (PULL) were synthesized from 4,4'-diphenymethyl diisocynate, poly(tetramethylene glycol), and z-lysine oligomer as a chain extender. Insulin-immobilized polyurethanes (PULL-In) were prepared by a coupling reaction of PULL surface amino groups with insulins. The amount of immobilized insulin was about 0.30 nmol/$\textrm{cm}^2$, as determined by Bradford method. The interactions of NIH/3T3 fibroblasts with surface-modified PULLs were investigated using $^3$H-thymidine incoporation and optical microscopy. The cell growth rate on PULL-In film was higher than those on other substrates. The cell proliferation by the immobilized insulin was almost same as that by the free one.
This experiment was attempted to improve ethanol productivity by immobilization of Kluyveromyces marxianus FO43 using Jerusalem artichoke powder. Sucrose medium was used to determine optimum conditions for cell immobilization. The optimum conditions were alginate concentration of 2%, bead size of 2 mm, a particle input ratio of 30 : 100, cultivation period of 24 hours, and substrate concentration of 10%(w/v). The immobilized cells produced the high concentrations of ethanol at pH $4.5{\sim}6.5$ and $30{\sim}45^{\circ}C$, broader ranges of pH and temperatures than those of free cells. Under optimum conditions the immobilized cells showed ethanol concentration of 46.4 g/L and productivity of 1.93 g/L.h. The microphotograph using a two phase contrast microscope showed that immobilized cells cultivated under the optimum conditions were densely populated toward the surface area of beads.
