Long length HTS coated conductor by RABiTS PLD method (RABiTS PLD 법을 이용한 장선 박막형 고온초전도선재)

  • 냉간 압연과 열처리 공정을 통해 2축 배향성을 가지는 금속 기판 위에 산화물 박막을 중착 시켜 같은 정도의 2축 배향성을 갖도록 제조된 RABiTS template 위에 YBCO 초전도체를 PLD 방법으로 증착하여 YBCO coated conductor 선재를 제조하였다. RABiTS template은 $NiW/Y_2O_3/YSZ/CeO_2$ 구조로 DC reactive sputtering와 PLD 방법에 의해 증착되었다. 모든 공정은 reel-to-reel 방식의 연속 공정으로 이루어졌다. 1m와 10m급의 장선 고온초전도선재를 제조하고, 이에 대한 전기적 특성과 초전도 및 다층 산화물 완충층에 대한 결정성, 표면 특성에 대한 분석을 수행하였다. 그 결과 1m 길이에서 end-to-end 107A와 10.6m 길이에서 end-to-end 51A의 임계 전류를 획득하였다. 제조된 박막형 선재의 초전도 층과 다층의 산화물 완충층 모두 금속 기판의 결정성을 그대로 유지하면서, epitaxial하게 성장하였으며, 최종 YBCO의 in-plane FWHM 값은 > $9^{\circ}$를 유지하였다.

  • According to the improvement of the HTS wires performance, several types of HTS superconducting machines, such as, transformer, motors, current limiters, and transmission cables are being developed. Degradation of the critical current in HTS tape owing to external field is very important subject in developing the HTS machines. Considering that stacked HTS tapes are widely used to develop the large HTS machines, the critical current characteristics of stacked HTS tapes in external field need to be examined. In this paper, we present critical current characteristics of 4-stacked HTS tapes which are exposed to the external field. HTS tape with critical current of 4-stacked HTS tape. Test results prove that four times critical current of single HTS tape is smaller than critical current of stacked HTS tape in high external field.

  • To enhance the critical current of superconducting coil, the magnetic field experienced by superconductors in a coil should be minimized. This is true for both low $T_{c}$ and high $T_{c}$ superconductors, and the difference between the two lays in their isotropic/an-isotropic characteristics. In this paper, we propose a shape optimization algorithm to reduce radial magnetic field components in HTS solenoid to enhance the critical current of a solenoid. In the algorithm, finite element method and continuum shape design sensitivity formula were employed. The objective function is to minimize the maximum radial magnetic fields in a solenoid with a constraint of constant solenoid volume condition. In this paper, the details on algorithm are introduced and the calculated optimized shapes are presented.

Mechanical Characteristics of Bi-2223 Wire for High-Tc Superconducting Cable (고온 초전도 케이블용 Bi-2223 선재의 기계적 특성)

  • Bi-2223 superconductor is known as one of the candidates for practical superconducting wires. Ag-sheathed Bi-2223 superconducting wires were fabricated using the powder-in-tube(PIT) method. When the 19-filaments wire was immersed in liquid nitrogen(77K), maximum critical current density Jc of 62 A/$mm_2$ at 0T was achieved. The critical current density has been shown to depend on the mechanical properties such as tensile stress and bending strain in Ag-sheathed Bi-2223 superconducting wires. The tensile strain for Jc degradation onset was in the range of 0.12~0.3%. In the case of 19-filaments wire, the bending strain is estimated to be smaller than 0.3% for the reasonable Jc value. The observed degradation of the critical current density due to strain effect is inevitable and can be attributed to the formation of microcracks within the superconducting core.

  • $YBa_2Cu_3O_x$ samples were fabricated by MPMG(Melt Powder Melt Growth). The effects of the $Y_2BaCuO_5$ and Ag addition on $YBa_2Cu_3O_x$ were studied throuth the Jc, Tc and magnetization. For the application of the bulk HTSC to current limiter, fly wheel and current lead and so on, the critical charateristics were investigated and compared with the solid sintering method.

  • Critical current of the superconducting machines is limited by the magnetic field. When the magnetic field is not uniform, it is difficult to estimate the magnetic field and the critical current. This paper proposed a method for the estimation of the magnetic field and the critical current of the HTS pancake windings which can be used to generate the high field magnet. A parameter which was needed to calculate the critical current of a BSCCO magnet with 10 pancake windings was obtained by the experiment. Test which was carried out by using single pancake winding and magnet consisting of 10 pancake windings shows the proposed method can be an effective method for the estimation of the critical current of pancake windings.

The Temporal Variations of Summer Temperature in Central Area of Korea during the 20th Century (20세기 한반도 중부지방의 여름철 기온 변화)

  • 본 연구에서는 지난 20세기 동안 한반도 중부 지방의 여름철 7월과 8월의 일최고기온과 일최저기온의 지역적 패턴을 조사하였다. 조사결과 연구기간 동안 여름철 일최고기온의 평균 및 일정 임계치 이상의 고온 특이일의 빈도가 감소하는 경향을 나타냈다. 반면, 여름철 일최저기온의 평균은 지속적으로 상승하여 결과적으로 이 지역의 여름철 일교차의 평균이 급격히 감소하는 경향을 보였다. 일최고기온의 감소 추세는 1950년대 이래로 진행되어온 조림사업으로 인한 삼림 임목 축적량의 증가와 관련성이 있는 것으로 추정되었다. 이 밖에도 본 연구에서는 현재의 도시화 지구온난화가 지속된다는 가정 하에 기온극값 발생빈도와 장기적인 패턴변화를 예측하는 모델을 제시하였다.

Fabrication of multi-layer $high-T_c$ superconducting tapes by a rolling process (로울링법을 이용한 고온 초전도 다심선재 제조)

  • High-T$_{c}$, superconducting wire is very important element for the application of electrical power systems. But it is very difficult to develope the long high T, wire with excellent properties. BiSrCaCuO multi-layer tapes are fabricated by a rolling method and pressing method sintered for several step at 840.deg. C. The critical current densities of 637 filament multi-layer tapes sintering 100 hours fabricated by the rolling method and pressing method are 1.3*10$^{4}$ A/cm$^{2}$ and 5.5*10$^{3}$ A/cm$^{2}$. The critical cur-rent densites of multi-layer tapes made by rolling method are found to be better than those fabricated by the powder-in-tube method and pressing process. As result, the rolling method is the best way to fabricated the multi-layer filament.t.

  • High temperature creep behaviour of Al-5 wt% Mg alloy reinforced with 7.5% BN flakes was studied. The composite specimens showed two main creep characteristics : (1) the value of the apparent stress exponent of the composite was high and varied with applied stress (2) the apparent activation energy for creep was much larger than that for self-diffusion in aluminum The true stress exponent of the composite was set equal to 5. Temperature dependence of the threshold stress of the composite was very strong. Which could not be rationalized by allowing for the temperature dependence of the elastic modulus change. AIN particles which were incorporated into the Al matrix during fabrication of the composite by the PRIMEXTM method were found to be effective barriers to dislocation motion and to give rise the threshold stress during creep of the composite
