In the field of the $CO_2$ absorption process using aqueous ammonia, the effects of regeneration pressure and temperature on $CO_2$ absorption performances of the aqueous ammonia were investigated. The absorbents were prepared by dissolving ammonium carbonate solid in water to grant the resulted solution 0.5 $CO_2$ loading ($mol\;CO_2/mol\;NH_3$) and various ammonia concentration (14, 20, 26 and 32 wt%). As-prepared absorbents were regenerated at high pressure and temperature (over $120^{\circ}C$ and 6 bar) before the absorption test. The absorption test was carried out by injecting the simulated gas that contains 12 vol% of $CO_2$ into a bubbling reactor. The introduction of 26 wt% of the ammonia concentration for $CO_2$ absorption test resulted in the higher absorption capacities than other experimental conditions. In particular, when the absorbents with 26 wt% of the ammonia were regenerated at $150^{\circ}C$ and 14 bar, the highest absorption capacity, $45ml\;CO_2/g$, was obtained. According to the analysis of absorbents using acid-base titration, the ammonia loss during the regeneration of the absorbents with a fixed ammonia concentration decreased as the regeneration pressure increased, while it increased as the regeneration temperature increased. In the condition of fixed regeneration pressure and temperature, as expected, the ammonia loss increased as the ammonia concentration increased. The measured $CO_2$ loadings and ammonia concentrations of absorbents were compared to the values calculated by Electrolyte NRTL model in Aspen Plus.

High temperature - high pressure apparatus was developed to simulate nickel fewite corrosion products which were main compositions of the radioactive crud in the nuclear power plant. Corrosion product similar to the crud was obtained by a tube accumulator system. Nickel alloy (Inconel 690) and carbon steel (SA106 Gr. C) were corroded at 270 $\^{circ}C$ in the corrosion product generator. Ni ions and Fe ions dissolved by corrosion reaction were able to be transported to the accumulator because the crud generation mechanism was the solubility change with temperature. To evaluate the properties of simulated corrosion products, scanning electron microscope (SEM) observation and EDAX analysis were performed. SEM observation of corrosion product showed the needlelike or crystal structure of oxide depending on precipitating location. The crystal oxide was the nickel ferrite, which was similar to the crud in nuclear power plants.
The effects of the gel content on the cell structures of PP sheets by using an electron-curing system were investigated. Three extruded PP sheets crosslinked by three different doses were used for the batch foaming process with the supercritical state $CO_2$. Experiments were also performed in order to study the effects of the gel content, saturation pressure and temperature on cell structures. Then foaming conditions, such as temperature and duration of time, were changed. The amount of gas absorbed into PP samples was not affected by gel contents and the operating condition of saturation pressure, which was higher than 2000 psi. The foam cells of PP with a low gel content grew irregularly at a higher foaming temperature and for a longer duration of foaming time. However, PP samples with high gel content showed even cell structures and narrow tell size distributions under the severe conditions of high foaming temperatures and long duration of foaming time.

The effects of some additives(black liquor, wood and lignin) on the conversion of coal and product were investigated in the lab-scale, high pressure reacting system around $375^{\circ}C$. The addition of lignin to coal during liquefaction significantly increased the depolymerization of coal and enhanced the quality of the liquid products. Coprocessing of wood and coal at $400^{\circ}C$ increased yield of liquid product about 8%, but higher temperature above $400^{\circ}C$ reduced liquid product due to increase of gas products. The addition of black liquor resulted in an enhancement in coal conversion yields, however, the observed increase is lower than that obtained in the presence of NaOH because lignin present in black liquor is not very effective due to the $OH^-$ presence.
In order to compare the germination and growth rate of the sprouts soaked in highly concentrated oxygen water, it with specific amounts of oxygen dissolved was produced in a high pressure reactor by pressuring oxygen. The sprouts were observed after being soaked in $20^{\circ}C$ oxygen water with 20, 30, 40, 50 ppm of oxygen dissolved each. Results of ten days later indicate that the final germination rate of the sprout soaked in 50 ppm oxygen water was $24.6{\sim}28.6%$ higher than that of the sprout soaked in distilled water. The final growth length also measured 6-7 mm higher than the sprout soaked in distilled water, demonstrating that enough supply of oxygen to the sprout induces stability and efficiency in its growth.
Zeolite X adsorbents with large surface area were prepared for using oxygen PSA adsorbent. Selective adsorption performance of nitrogen on the synthesized zeolite X adsorbent was improved by the cation exchange of adsorbent. The zeolite X which had over $650m^2/g$ surface area was synthesized at the conditions of $SiO_2\;:\;Na_2O\;:\;H_2O\;:\;Al_2O_3$ = 2.5 : 3.5 : 150 : 1 mole ratio, $98^{\circ}C$ temperature and 18 h synthesized time in 50 L reactor. The metal ions Li, Ag, Ca, Br, Sr, etc. were investigated for ion exchange with zeolite X. Ag ion was showed the highest ion exchange rate among these metal ions and all metal ions were exchanged with Na ion at equivalent rate. Compared with the NaX adsorbent, the ion exchanged zeolite X adsorbent remarkably improved its adsorption performance of nitrogen at the conditions of $10{\sim}40^{\circ}C$ temperature and 0~9 atm pressure. At an equilibrium pressure under 0.5 atm, adsorption performance of nitrogen on the ion exchanged zeolite adsorbent increased in the order of Ag > Li > Ca > Sr> Ba > K, whereas at an equilibrium pressure over 1 atm showed in the order of Li > Ag > Ca > Sr > Ba > K. Nitrogen/oxygen separation factor of Li ion exchanged zeolite X adsorbent was 13.023 at the partial pressure of nitrogen/oxygen gas mixture similar to air and $20^{\circ}C$ adsorption temperature.
In this study, epoxy-modified acrylate was synthesized. The synthesized acrylate was added to the composition for sheet molding compound (SMC) in the range of 5 phr to 15 phr. The prepared SMC prepreg was molded at high temperature and pressure to produce a glass fiber reinforced composite. Physical properties such as tensile and impact strength of the composite were measured, respectively. Experimental data show that the composite with 5 phr of synthesized acrylate has 20% improved tensile strength and 12% improved impact strength than that of the reference sample.

Catalytic wet air oxidation of acetic acid over Mn-Ce based catalysts deposited on various supports ($SiO_2$, $TiO_2$, $ZrO_2$), $ZrSiO_4$, $ZrO_2(10wt%)/TiO_2$) have been carried out in high pressure microreactors. Also, promotional effects by small addition(O.5~1.0 wt%) of p-type semiconductors (CoO, $Ag_2O$, SnO) have been investigated. From the screening tests for initial activity ranking, both Mn(2.8)-Ce(7.2 wt%) and Ru(O.4)Mn(2.7)-Ce(6.9 wt%) supported on $TiO_2$ were selected as the promising reference candidates. In $Mn-Ce/TiO_2$ reference catalyst, addition of small amount of each p-type semiconductor (Co, Sn and Ag) resulted in activity promotional effect and the degree of the increase was in the following order: Co> Ag > Sn. Especially, $Mn-Ce/TiO_2$ promoted with 0.5 wt% Co gave the 2.6 folds activity increase compared to the reference case attributing to the surface area increase as well as synergy effect. In $Ru-Mn-Ce/TiO_2$ reference catalyst, only Co(1.0 wt%) promoted case showed a little reaction rate increase.

In this study, the supercritical electroplating was investigated by forming macroemulsion of electroplating solution using surfactant in supercritical $CO_2$. The fluorinated analogous AOT surfactant, sodium salt of bis (2,2,3,3,4,4,5,5-octafluoro-1-pentanol) sulfosuccinate which has both '$CO_2$ philic' chains and 'hydrophilic' head group was used as a surfactant, and Ni plate and Cu plate were used as the anode and the cathode, respectively. Electroplating was carried out in the conventional method and the supercritical macroemulsion and both results were compared. The supercritical electroplating was carried out in various concentration of surfactant such as 2, 4, 7 wt%, the volume ratio of Ni-plating solution to $CO_2$ was varied in the range of 10-70 vol%, and propane was used as a supercritical fluid instead of $CO_2$. According to the experimental results, the plated surface of Ni on Cu plate performed in supercritical macroemulsion was better than that, in conventional state. In the image of Ni surface plated on Cu plate in supercritical state, there were fewer pin-holes and pits comparing with that in the conventional process. The current and conductivity was increased as the volume ratio of Ni-plating solution to $CO_2$ was increased and the current and the amount of Ni plated on Cu plate were decreased as the concentration of surfactant become higher. In addition, in case of the continuous phase, using $CO_2$ was more effective than using $CO_2$.
