In this paper, we present a high-level design methodology applied on a network system-on-a-chip(SOC) using SystemC. The main target of our approach is to get optimum performance parameters for high network address translation(NAT) throughput. The Fast Ethernet media access controller(MAC) and its direct memory access(DMA) controller are modeled with SystemC in transaction level. They are calibrated through the cycle-based measurement of the operation of the real Verilog register transfer language(RTL). The NAT throughput of the model is within $\pm$10% error compared to the output of the real evaluation board. Simulation speed of the model is more than 100 times laster than the RTL. The validated models are used for intensive architecture exploration to find the performance bottleneck in the NAT router.
Image interpolation is a method of determining the value of new pixel coordinate in the process of image scaling. Recently, image contents are likely to be a large-capacity, interpolation algorithm is required to generate fast enhanced result image. In this paper, fast multiple mixed image interpolation for image resolution enhancement is proposed. The proposed method estimates expected 12 shortfalls from four sub-images of a input image, and generates the result image that is interpolated in the combination of the expected shortfalls with the input image. The experimental results demonstrate that PSNR increases maximum value of 1.9dB, SSIM increases maximum value of 0.052, and the subjective quality is superior to any other compared methods. Moreover, it is known by algorithm running time comparison that the proposed method has been at least three times faster than the compared conventional methods. The proposed method can be useful for application on image resolution enhancement.

High-quality multimedia on the Internet has attracted attention because of its wide application area. IP multicast has been proposed as a solution to use efficient network resources in these services. However, IP multicast has not been commonly used due to a number of practical issues such as security and management. As an alternative, an overlay multicast routing which is performed in upper protocol layers on legacy networks without changing hardware has been presented. Yet, the maximum data transmission capacity of the overlay multicast is not sufficient for real time transmission of multimedia data. In this paper, we have implemented an overlay multicast engine on NetFPGA which allows us to perform packet replication and tunneling which need high-speed. In addition, we have implemented extra portions which need low-speed in software. From now on, we will progress research which increase the number of terminal spots which can be replicated by improvement and amplify throughputs by optimization.

In this paper, a high speed, high resolution information processing digital- analog converter was designed for high definition color graphic, digital image signal processing, HDTV. For high speed operation, matrix type current cell array, latch which is not use pipelined, and two dimensional structure decoder using transmission gate were designed. It is adopted to fast-conversion, low-power implementation and exhibited high performance at linearity and accuracy. To reduce silicon area and to maintain resolution, current cell array composed of weighted and non-weighted current cells. In this paper, deglitching current cell design for high accuracy, new switching algorithm assert to reduce switching error. It's This circuit dissipates 130W with a 5-V power supply, and operate above 100MHz with 10 bit resolution.

Some design techniques for high speed and low power pipelined 8-bit ADC are described. To perform high-speed operation with relatively low power consumption, open loop architecture is adopted, while closed loop architecture (with MDAC) is used in conventional pipeline ADC. A distributed track and hold amplifier and a cascading structure are also adopted to increase the sampling rate. To reduce the power consumption and the die area, the number of amplifiers in each stage are optimized and reduced with proposed zero-crossing point generation method. At 500-MHz sampling rate, simulation results show that the power consumption is 210mW including digital logic with 1.8V power supply. And the targeted ADC achieves ENOB of about 8-bit with input frequency up to 200-MHz and input range of 1.2Vpp (Differential). The ADC is designed using a $0.18{\mu}m$ 6-Metal 1-Poly CMOS process and occupies an area of $900{\mu}m{\times}500{\mu}m$

While the oversampling sigma-delta ADCs are known to have high resolution, they often suffer from SNDR losses when operated at a very high data clock. This paper presents a design and implementation of a decimation filter that provides minimum distortion at passband for high-speed sigma-delta ADC. The proposed digital decimation filter employs a butterworth structure. To evaluate the performance of the proposed decimation filter, we implemented a 1-bit, third-order, OSR=64 sigma-delta modulator followed by the proposed decimation filter. Using the simulation ad measurement, we compared the performance of the proposed decimation filter with a conventional CIC(cascaded integrator comb) decimation filter, which is commonly used in most sigma-delta ADCs. The measurement results show that the proposed decimation filter presents substantially lower distortion at passband and thus can provide must higher SNDR.

Recently, NAND Flash memory structure is evolving from SDR (Single Data Rate) to high speed DDR(Double Data Rate) to fulfill the high performance requirement of SSD and SSS. Accordingly, the proper ways of transferring data that latches valid data stably and minimizing data skew between pins by using PHY(Physical layer) circuit techniques have became new issues. Also, rapid growth of speed in NAND flash increases the operating frequency and power consumption of NAND flash controller. Internal voltage variation margin of NAND flash controller will be narrowed through the smaller geometry and lower internal operating voltage below 1.5V. Therefore, the increase of power budge deviation limits the normal operation range of internal circuit. Affection of OCV(On Chip Variation) deteriorates the voltage variation problem and thus causes internal logic errors. In this case, it is too hard to debug, because it is not functional faults. In this paper, we propose new architecture that maintains the valid timing window in cost effective way under sudden power fluctuation cases. Simulation results show that the proposed technique minimizes the data skew by 379% with reduced area by 20% compared to using PHY circuits.

Lithium-ion batteries have been used for high density energy storage system due to the features such as low self-discharge rate. And the unit cell battery with the voltage less than 4V is recommended to use the series connections for a high voltage charger. When batteries are charged or discharged with series connection, there may be an explosion or degradation of unit cell battery owing to undistributed internal resistance of cell battery. therefore, the voltages of unit cell batteries should be monitored to prevent an overcharging and a deep discharging. This paper introduces the implementation of CVM (Cell Voltage Monitoring) system that can transmit the 12 channel's information including voltages and temperatures with the 12-bits resolutions and the transmission speed of 192 kbps.

For an high speed communication, a 40GHz VCO was implemented using a 0.11um standard CMOS technology. The mm-wave VCO was designed by a LC type using a spiral inductor, and a simplified architecture with buffers and a smart biasing technique were used to get a high performance. The frequency range of the proposed VCO is 34~40GHz which is suitable for mm-Wave communication system. It has an output power of -16dBm and 16% tuning range. And the phase noise is -100.33dBc/Hz at 1MHz offset at 38GHz fundamental frequency. The total power consumption of VCO including PADs is 16.8mW with 1.2V supply voltage. The VCO achieves the FOMT of -183.8dBc/Hz which is better than previous VOCs.

The conventional PLL(phase locked loop) frequency synthesizer takes a long switching time because of the inherent closed-loop structure. The digital hybrid PLL(DH-PLL) which includes the open-loop structure into the conventional PLL synthesizer has been studied to overcome this demerit. It operates in high speed, but the hardware complexity and power consumption are the serious problem because the DLT(digital look-up table) is usually implemented by the ROM which contains the transfer characteristic of VCO(voltage controlled oscillator). This paper proposes a new DH-PLL using a very simple DLT-replacement digital logic instead of the complex ROM-type DLT. Also, a timing synchronization circuit for the very small over-shoot and shorter settling time is designed for the ultra fast switching speed at every frequency synthesis. The hardware complexity gets decreased to about $28\%,$ as compared with the conventional DH-PLL. The high speed switching characteristic of the frequency synthesis process can be verified by the computer simulation and the circuit implementation.
