Review on Fuel Economy of Vehicle(I) (자동차의 연비저가에 관한 고찰(I))

  • 자동차가 처음 만들어진 당시에는 목적지까지 무사히 도착하는 신뢰성이 중요한 과제가 되었으리 라 생각된다. 무사히 도착되니 다음은 어떻게 하면 빨리 도착할 수 있을까하는 요구에서 고속화 즉 기관의 고출력화가 이루어졌다. 자동차의 편리함이 인식되고 또 보급됨에 따라 자동차가 주 위한경에 미치는 영향이 문제가 되어 1960년대 후반부터 자동차배출가스규제가 시작되고 이어서 소음규제가 실시되어 점차 강화되고 있다. 1973년부터 시작된 석유위기이래 자동차의 석유사용 량을 저감시키는 목적으로 미국에서는 연비규제가 실시되기에 이르렀고 다른 국가들도 거기에 따르고 있다. 미국의 1975년 에너지정책, 보존법(Energy Policy and Conservation Act of 1975 )은 1974년의 평균연비 14mile/gallon을 1985년까지는 약 2배의 27.5mile/gallon까지 높이고자 하는 것이다. 가까운 일본에서도 약 35%정도 향상되고 있는 실정이다. 자동차의 저연비특성은 제품기능으로 점차 중요시되는 동시에 국가차원에서는 석유에너지절약의 한 방편으로 사회적으 로도 해결하여야할 입장에 이르렀다. 이 에너지 절약 문제는 자동차의 소형화를 포함한 국제 적인 자동차 재개발문제로 발전, 80년대의 신기술개발의 최대과제가 되고 있다. 또 최근의 사용 자의 요구는 운전성, 실용성에 대해서도 까다롭고 또 다양화하고 있다. 이들 요구와 엄격한 배 출가스규제 및 소용규제를 만족시키면서 연비저감을 꾀하느것인 만큼 실로 어려운 일임에는 틀 림없다. 여기서는 가솔린기관 승용차의 연비저감을 중심으로 규제의 상황, 연비의 향상기술에 대해서 논하고자 한다.

  • During the Cold War, all space developments were focused on the performance only. However economy becomes more important for space development after the Cold War. There is a growing interest in reusable launch vehicle to secure the economic feasibility. In this paper, technology development prospects and direction of reusable launch vehicles and future propulsion systems of various countries are presented.

  • A high temperature heater is required to supply high temperature air to the hypersonic propulsion system in order to simulate high velocity flying condition during the ground test. Various high temperature heaters were reviewed, categorized, and analyzed in this paper. Heaters were categorized in 4 groups; in-stream combustion heater, electric arc heater, storage heater, and heat exchange heater. Each group has its own advantages and disadvantages, so the heater should be selected considering its purpose.

  • Recently, the improvement of fuel economy and the reduction of exhaust smoke and NOx have been successfully achieved by supplying diesel engines with emulsified diesel oil with water particles. In the present paper, the difference between the combustion of injected emulsified fuel and that of diesel oil spray is clarified by means of taking high-speed and color photographs of the flames in the engine cylinder. As the results, the two kinds of fuels show different combustion behavior each other in the growth of initial flame and in the termination of combustion process in the cylinder. Then, suitable combustion chamber design for the use of emulsified fuel is discussed on the basis of experimental data for various distribution of spray in different kinds of piston cavities. Some methods of clearing troubles caused by emulsified fuel injection are also discussed on the basis of performance tests with a remodeling test engine.

  • The flame stabilization is one of the topics which have to be solved for the airbreathing propulsion systems, using the entering air which is supersonic velocity as an oxygen sources. Making a recirculation zone with an eddy flow, installed the reducing velocity devices such as the bluff body, is the typical method of the flame stabilization. Recently using a cavity flame stabilization at the wall is an emerging technique as an effective method which extends the stabilization zone, and the related research papers have been published on the flow separation and reattachment, pressures and oscillations including length/depth ratios in the cavities. Even though, still there are lots of topics to study more in the cavity flame stabilization field as the preceding techniques, as well as the research and the development of the airbreathing propulsion system itself.

  • Evidence-based training (EBT) improves a pilot's competency and confidence based on the data(Evidence) from actual aircraft accidents, incidents, operations, and training for safe operation in the fast-paced and large-scale air transportation field. It is a training/assessment program that strengthens resilience for problem solving. As a way to apply this evidence-based training(EBT) to the educational system of ATO and to resolve the problems, I propose 3 improvement plans. They are evaluation criteria that apply the core competencies of EBT to the educational evaluation system, the way to improve the system for standardization of practical test examiners and instructors and also the ways to use Flight Simulation Training Devices(FSTD).

  • This occurs when the unbalanced rotating body is inconsistent with the mass center line axis geometric center line. Wheelsets are assembled by a single axle with two wheels and a rotating body of a running railway vehicle. Owing to non-uniformity of the wheel material, the wear, and error of the wheel and axle assembly may cause an imbalance. Wheelsets will suffer the effects of vibrations due to the unbalanced mass, which becomes more pronounced due to the thin and high-speed rotation compared to the shaft diameter This can affect the driving safety and the running behavior of a rail car during high-speed running. Therefore, this study examined this unbalanced wheel using a railway vehicle multibody dynamics analysis tool to assess the impact of the dynamic VI-Rail movement of high-speed railway vehicles. Increasing the extent of wheel imbalance on the analysis confirmed that the critical speed of a railway vehicle bogie is reduced and the high-speed traveling dropped below the vehicle dynamic behaviour. Therefore, the adverse effects of the amount of a wheel imbalance on travel highlight the need for management of wheel imbalances. In addition, the static and dynamic management needs of a wheel imbalance need to be presented to the national rail vehicles operating agency.

Study on Factors for Passenger Risk in Railway Vehicle (철도차량내 승객 위험요소 선정 연구)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted for the purpose of selecting important events from among various events that may pose a risk to railway passengers. For this purpose, opinions of various railroad vehicle passengers and railway operator workers were investigated and analyzed. Method: The survey was conducted on 1,000 men and women in their 20s and 60s and 429 workers at 11 company across the country. A survey was conducted on the dangerous situations that may occur in subways, general railroads and high-speed rail vehicles targeting passengers. For railway operator workers, the questionnaire is limited to subway vehicles. Result: Among the passenger risk factors(abnormal behavior and dangerous situations) selected based on the frequency and importance of occurrence of passenger risk factors, the main risk factors are selected 'car door jamming', 'sexual harassment', 'intoxicating behavior', 'fighting' /assault', 'wandering around', and 'not wearing a mask'. Conclusion: The major risk factors affecting passengers were selected by surveying passengers and railway operators. we plan to develop a CCTV detection system with AI technology that can quickly and continuously detect the major risk factors of railway vehicles selected as a result of this study.

  • 탄소나노튜브(CNT)는 나노 기술의 대표적인 물질로, 나노 크기의 팁 반경과 100:1 이상의 높은 종횡비, 그리고 물리 화학적 안정성 등으로 인해 이상적인 전자 방출원 재료로 여겨져 많은 연구기관들이 CNT를 이용한 응용 소자를 개발하고 있다. 나노 기술을 바탕으로 한 CNT 백 라이트 유닛(BLU)은 CNT에 인가된 전기장에 의해 전자가 방출되고 방출된 전자가 고전압으로 가속되어 형광체를 때려서 발광하는 원리로 작동되며, 면광윈으로서 고정세의 로컬 디밍, 고속 순간 발광에 의한 잔상 제거 등의 장점으로 고품질의 LCD TV에 적용될 수 있으며, 냉음극형광램프와 발광다이오드를 대체할 만한 차세대 BLU로서 뛰어난 특성을 가지고 있다.

A Study of Performance Test of High Speed Solenoid for Fuel Injector in Diesel Engine (디젤기관의 분사밸브를 위한 고속 솔레노이드의 성능에 관한 연구)

  • In the DI diesel engine of passenger cars, common rail injection system have been used to improve the engine performance and reduce the exhaust emission by controlling injection timing, injection pattern, and injection duration. In case that common rail injection system is applied to high speed DI diesel engine, it is necessary to have high response and good repetition characteristics. These characteristics of injector depend on the characteristics of solenoid. Thus, to apply the common rail injection system in the high speed diesel engine, we had designed and made a multi-pole solenoid, and carried out repetition, response test to compare the multi-pole solenoid with the gasoline Injector solenoid. The result shows that repetition and response characteristics of multi-pole solenoid have better characteristics than the gasoline injector solenoid.
