In response to the changing demands of ever competitive market, SK Telecom has built a new marketing system that can support dynamic marketing campaigns and, at the same time, scale up to the large volumes of data and transactions for the next decade. The system which employs Unix-based client-server (using Web browser interfaces) architecture will replace the current mainframe-based COIS system. The project, named NGM (Next Generation Marketing ), is unprecedentedly large in scale. However, both managerial and technical problems led the project into a crisis. The application framework that depended on a software solution from a major global vendor could not support the dynamic functionalities required for the new system. In March 2005, SK telecom declared the suspension of the NGM project. The second phase of the project started in May 2005 following a comprehensive replanning. It was decided that no single existing solution could cope with the complexity of the new system and hence the new system would be custom-built. As such. a number of technical challenges emerged. In this paper, we report on the three key dimensions of technical challenges - middleware and application framework, database architecture and tuning, and system performance. The processes and approaches, adopted in building NGM system, may be viewed as "best practices" in the telecom industry. The completed NGM system, now called "U.key System," successfully came into operation on the ninth of October, 2006. This new infrastructure is expected to give birth to a series of innovative, fruitful, and customer-oriented applications in the near future.

While trust and commitment, essential ingredients of the relationship quality variables, are core mediating variables for the purpose of maintaining the long-term relationship, in the context of the internal political economy of company and the relational performance of its members, there have been limited studies which explore as to how each of the dimensions have affect differently. The basic purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between an automobile manufacturer and its agencies. The main purpose of this study is to examine how each different dimension of trust and commitment on the automobile manufacturer have different mediating effects in the context of internal political economy variables and relational performance perceived by its agents. Another purpose is to investigate the mechanism by which the relational performance of the agencies is improved. An empirical study surveying 115 sales office managers at a leading automobile manufacturer in Korea was conducted. An analysis of the collected data indicates that while internal political economy variables have a positive influence on the agencies' relational performance through the mediating role of trust and commitment, agencies' benevolence on its headquarter has a different influence on the dimensions of commitment. Currently, an automobile manufacturer is advised to implement the relational management philosophy in dealing with its agencies with an hope of innovative orientation for customers. In this sense, this study is a big stride in providing ample implications for the automobile manufacturer in establishing trust and commitment, which are the prerequisite conditions in developing and maintaining a successful long-term relationship with its agencies, and in improving the agency's relational performance.
The purpose of this study is to examine a relationship between the headquarters and the sales offices of a car manufacturing company by comparing their channel types. It examines how the level of communication and commitment of sales offices on their headquarters differently affects some mediating effects between participation and relationship performance. It also tries to find out what kind of mechanisms are needed in order to improve the relationship. Through the data analysis of a total of 200 sales offices which are directly managed stores and agency stores by a domestic car manufacturing company, the following conclusions were reached: Participation, one of the variables in bureaucratic structuring, influences all dimensions of communication. Also, it has found that communication dimensions influence commitment dimensions differently by the type of channels, and commitment dimensions influence relationship performance by the type of channels. Recently, import car makers are accelerating their moves in the domestic market, and the importance of a customer-oriented retail innovation and a relationship management in an auto manufacturing industry is increasing. This study will give an useful suggestion on how to improve a long term relationship of distributors through an enhancement of communication and commitment.
Purpose - This study aimed to (a) investigate the effects of emotional intelligence on customer orientation, (b) examine the impact of customer orientation on customer relationship management (CRM) performance (including CRM-related variables such as 'relationship commitment,' 'image of corporation,' and 'customer loyalty'), and (c) identify the conceptual framework of emotional intelligence. Research design, data, and methodology - The data were collected using a questionnaire given to a sample of employees of luxury hotels in the metropolitan area. To test the hypotheses, AMOS were conducted for the 271 respondents of the sample using the SPSS Win 17.0 software. The concept of emotional intelligence (EI) has been on the radar of many leaders and managers over the past few decades. Emotional intelligence is generally accepted to be a combination of emotional and interpersonal competencies that influence behavior, thoughts, and interactions with others. Emotional intelligence consists of four factors: understanding the self's emotion, understanding other people's emotions, emotion utilization, and emotion control. Understanding the self's emotion means to understand of my own emotions. Understanding other people's emotions is to understand of the emotions of the people around me and to know how my friends feel based on their behavior. The concept of emotion utilization means to set goals for myself and then try to achieve them, encouraging myself to do my best. The concept of emotion control means I can control my temper, handle difficult situations rationally, and calm down quickly when I am very angry. Results - As a result of the analysis, three factors (understanding the self's emotion, understanding of other people's emotions, and emotion utilization) were shown to have a significant effect on customer orientation. Emotion control had an insignificant effect on customer orientation. Only emotion control makes it difficult to solve customers' problems because it is a passive behavior. In order to solve the customers' problems, hotel employees have to show a positive attitude. Second, customer orientation had a significant effect on customer relationship management performance (customer relationship commitment, corporate image, and customer loyalty). In other words, customer orientation increases commitment to customer relationships. For example, employees who have a customer-orientated perspective provide good service to their customers, while employees who don't have a customer-orientated perspective can't satisfy their customers. Customer orientation can also generate a good image among customers, because they evaluate the image of a hotel through the behavior of hotel employees. So it is very important for employees to show excellent customer orientation. Conclusions - It is very important for hotel CEOs to manage their employees' emotional intelligence. In order to increase their employees' emotional intelligence abilities, CEOs have to manage the overall corporate culture and reward programs to achieve what they want. This is because the system can lead to a customer-orientated mind-set and CRM performance among employees. As a result, the hotel CEO has to pay attention to the emotional intelligence of employees to achieve strong CRM performance. The sentence as originally written was a bit unclear. Purpose - Recently, domestic pharmaceutical market is growing steadily, but top-tier companies are concentrating on sales growth. In this market, SMEs, which account for more than 80% of the entire market, suffer from the problem of lower margins and increasing inventory costs. According to the government's policy changes related to pharmaceuticals, it is pointed out that the management of existing customers and the control of salespeople are important issues for pharmaceutical companies. This study investigates the effect of the control system on the salesperson in domestic pharmaceutical distribution channel on customer-oriented selling behaviors and sales performance. Research design, data, and methodology - To verify the proposed research model and test hypotheses, the authors selected 244 MR(medical representatives)'s responses which have currently relationship with doctors or pharmacists. This study carefully investigated the reliability, content validity, convergent validity, and discriminant validity of the proposed model. Results - The authors find out the following results: capacity control, activity control, and self control have positive effects on customer-oriented selling behaviors and customer-oriented selling behaviors have a positive effect on sales performance. In addition, we present alternative model to check the direct effect between the control systems and the sales performance, but control system factors except self control have no direct influence. Conclusions - First of all, competency control and activity control increases the customer-oriented selling behavior of the salesperson. This means that the salesperson's sales skill, negotiation skill, customer access skill, presentation ability, monitoring, direction and evaluation are important and it is also important to control activities to check the number of visits to customers, report preparation, and customer service etiquette. Second, the fact that self-control of salesperson affects the customer-oriented selling behavior suggests that self-control is not controlled by external factors but rather establishes short/long-term goals. Therefore, it is important for sales organization to create an environment in which members can induce persistent incentives for self-control. Finally, output control did not affect customer-oriented sales behavior, which is less likely to form confidence or motivation to MRs when output control is perceived as a means of monitoring, supervising, or controlling rather than providing information to salespeople.
Festival contents have played a role as a mediator that connects consumers and producers of the Festivals to express the purpose or theme of those. The successful quality factors to be successively sustainable excellent Festivals include ritual, experience, exhibition, sales, education, competitive, performance. In this study, Festival contents scales, that is named CONTSQUAL, being consisted of seven factors were drawn through the analysis of Cultural Tourism Festival 2012. Festival CONTSQUAL is ritual, experience, exhibition, sales, education, competitive, performance. The research sample is participants in the "Geumsan Insam Festival". Empirical analysis was carried out for visitors to verify the scales and research model. As a result, among festival CONTSQUAL, all components of qualities affected positively on Festival Flow but ritual and education. Festival flow affected positively on festival satisfaction while festival satisfaction affected positively on behavior intention. This study not only measured festival quality through the newly developed CONTSQUAL scales underlying sustainable competitive festival, but also built basic foundation for objectively assessing the festival contents quality, which would result in ensure successful local festival.
In general, the introduction of information technology to domestic small and middle size firms is depending on the governmental supporting policy. However, even under this situation there is also a case that the building up of information technology is initiated by the management of small and middle size firms. An accumulated know-how for information technology and powerful leadership in such firms are considered as success factors. This study attempts to analyze a case for 'THEFACESHOP', in which MIS is successfully built. To achieve corporate goals, the CEO of THEFACESHOP based on the extensive knowledge of information technology drove to build up information system. Also, the board of directors supported him, and employees committed to their organization. Through the strong leadership of the CEO, the information system of THEFACESHOP became sufficient and efficient. And it led the organization and the information system to be competitive. In particular, the systematic approach of THEF ACESHOP reinforcing its competitiveness can be summarized as follows: First, it tried to construct basic information systems as like ERP etc. to increase work-efficiency. Second, it completed CRM related systems for analysis to maximize its customer orientation and marketing effect. Third, the last step can be stated as the building up of operation related CRM systems to improve the responsiveness of target marketing activities and the profitability of its agencies. Such endeavors of THEFACESHOP contributed to increase productivity and performance of the organization. As a result, THEFACESHOP has had its own 'Natural Story' and price competitiveness. For that reason THEFACESHOP became the best of brand-shop cosmetic firms. This success based on the strong leadership and the systematic investment on the information system.

Service design is a process and methodology for innovating or creating service. This study analyzed library case that applied service design method to library service innovation and creation. The object of this case studies include 7 library such as Copenhagen's municipal library, State Library of Victoria, Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, Georgia institute of technology library, North carolina state university library. This study analyzed separately to service design requirements, stake-holders, period, process, tools, result and main feature. The implications obtained through this case study are as follows: (1) The design of the library service are focused on user-centered services, future service creation. (2) The service design for library is designed by the collaboration of all stake-holder. (3) From the point of view of period, the service design is continuous, and it has a nature of the project. (4) The service design in library focus on user experience, processes and prototypes development and application. (5) The service design in library are applied to the new tool such as blue print, customer journey map, touch-point, shadow, persona. (6) The purpose of the service design in library is improved and created services, and is has holistic approach.
Few previous researches have been studied in terms of franchisees' perceptions of franchisors' entrepreneurial activities within the boundary of restaurant franchising industry settings. The sampling frame for this study included 605 restaurant franchisees in the business-format franchising system in Korea and data were collected from 1 October 2009 to 28 February 2010. This study, from franchisees' views, investigated the relationship among franchisors' entrepreneurship, external environment, organizational structure(mechanistic-organic) and managerial performance, with structural equation modeling(SEM). The research findings were, firstly, external environment positively affected entrepreneurship which positively affected market orientation and managerial performance, and secondly, market orientation made franchisors select organic structure and heighten managerial performance. Also, external environment led franchisors to adopt organic structure and aggravated their managerial performance. The implications of these findings were as follows. Firstly, the more franchiors had initiatives, innovatedness and risk-taking attitudes, the higher they had managerial performances and market orientation. Secondly, franchisors should keep and heighten market share with keeping in mind with customer orientation, competition orientation, harmony between departments, long-term orientation and profitability. Thirdly, continuous and cautious environmental scanning was necessary because external restaurant environment made organizational structure being changed and managerial performance being aggravated.
In recently, the globalization of business and the competitive pressure have led to the growing strategic importance of the logistics function within the organization. All organizations are approaching 3PL(Third party logistics : 3PL) services to manage their logistics activities to gain competitive advantages. This has placed a number of demands on the logistics system and has become a rapidly developing area of investigation. Thus the research objective is to examine the effects of 3PL service qualities, trust and commitment on logistics performance. The results shows that visibility and expertise of the 3PL service quality elements positively affected shipper's trust. And availability, visibility and communication of the 3PL service quality elements positively affected shipper's commitment. In addition, the trust and commitment of shipper's company on the 3PL corporation positively affected logistics performance.
