Didactical Applications of the Baduk Pieces Game (바둑돌 게임의 교수학적 활용)

  • We review the eastern frog jump game and the western solitaire to apply the Baduk Pieces Game to mathematical education. This study introduce a didactical method of Baduk Pieces Game which is constructed with simplification, generalization, and extension. This didactical applications of the Baduk Pieces Game gives the students opportunities of patterns, generalization, and problem solving strategies.

A Design of Teaching Unit for Secondary Pre-service Teachers to Explore Generalized Fobonacci Sequences (일반화된 피보나치수열의 탐구를 위한 예비중등교사용 교수단원의 설계)

  • In this paper, we have designed a teaching unit for the learning mathematising of secondary pre-service teachers by exploring generalized fibonacci sequences. First, we have found useful formulas for general terms of generalized fibonacci sequences which are expressed as combinatoric notations. Second, by using these formulas and CAS graphing calculator, we can help secondary pre-service teachers to conjecture and discuss the limit of the sequence given by the rations of two adjacent terms of an m-step fibonacci sequence. These processes can remind secondary pre-service teachers of a series of some mathematical principles.

  • A diagnostic method useful for detecting outliers in testing the equality of two covariance metrics is developed using the influence curve approach. This method is easily generalized to more than two covariance matrices. A sample version for the influence measure of detecting outliers is considered based on the empirical distribution functions. The sample version includes as its component terms the well-known test statistic for detecting one outlier at a time introduced by Wilks and its generalization to the two-group case.

  • The purpose of this research work is to propose an analytical method of tunnel design based on reasonable site data. Therefore the proposed design method consists of monitoring data and Modified In Situ Rock Model. Also the Rock Mass Rating for very poor quality rock is very difficult to estimate, the balances between the ratings may no longer gives a reliable basis for the rock mass strength. But in reality Rock Mass Rating is only the property which can be obtained from face mapping records of the exposed tunnel face during construction stage. Evaluation of rock parameters for the actual design prior to tunnel construction should be corrected during tunnelling process in particularly complex ground conditions. This study intends to investigate application of in-situ rock model to soft rock tunnelling (weathered rock) by face mapping results and site measurement data that are obtained at the costraction site of Seoul Subway Tunnel. For the preparation of more reliable ground parameters, the Rock Mass Rating values for the weathered rocks were modified and readjusted in accordance with the measurement data. The modified input parameters obtained by the proposed method are used for the prediction of the tunnel behavior at subsequent construction stages. The results of this study revealed that more reasonable feed back tunnel analysis can be possible as suggested. Ample measurement data would be able to confirm the new proposed technique in this research work.

A Study on the Algebraic Thinking of Mathematically Gifted Elementary Students (초등 수학영재의 대수적 사고 특성에 관한 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to describe characteristics of thinking in elementary gifted students' solutions to algebraic tasks. Especially, this paper was focused on the students' strategies to develop generalization while problem solving, the justifications on the generalization and metacognitive thinking emerged in stildents' problem solving process. To find these issues, a case study was conducted. The subjects of this study were four 6th graders in elementary school-they were all receiving education for the gifted in an academy for the gifted attached to a university. Major findings of this study are as follows: First, during the process of the task solving, the students varied in their use of generalization strategies and utilized more than one generalization strategy, and the students also moved from one strategy toward other strategies, trying to reach generalization. In addition, there are some differences of appling the same type of strategy between students. In a case of reaching a generalization, students were asked to justify their generalization. Students' justification types were different in level. However, there were some potential abilities that lead to higher level although students' justification level was in empirical step. Second, the students utilized their various knowledges to solve the challengeable and difficult tasks. Some knowledges helped students, on the contrary some knowledges made students struggled. Specially, metacognitive knowledges of task were noticeably. Metacognitive skills; 'monitoring', 'evaluating', 'control' were emerged at any time. These metacognitive skills played a key role in their task solving process, led to students justify their generalization, made students keep their task solving process by changing and adjusting their strategies.

  • 표준형 원자력발전소에서는 원자로 내의 핵연료 봉으로부터 발생하는 열에너지를 열교환기인 증기발생기로 전달하는 원자로냉각재 계통이 있다. 핵연료 봉을 적절한 냉각 상태로 유지하기 위하여 원자로냉각재의 온도와 압력뿐만 아니라 체적을 제어하고 있다. 원자로냉각재 체적은 용량이 큰 반면에 제어하는 밸브의 크기는 작아서 제어 응답이 길어서 현장에서 경험적으로 튜닝하는 것은 매우 어렵다. 본 논문에서는 체적제어루프의 수학적인 모델링을 통하여 오프라인으로 최적 제어 파라미터를 찾고, 실제 적용한 결과를 보여준다. 제어루프 모델링을 위하여 일반화 프로세서 모델 식으로부터 실제 운전 데이터로 모델 파라미터를 결정하는 경험적 방법을 사용하였다. 이로부터 구한 제어 파라미터를 실제 적용한 결과, 적절한 제어 응답을 얻었으며 모델링 과정이 적절하였음을 확인하였다.

  • Students have a hard time with a formal proof, which is one of most important part in mathematics education. They were taught the proof with algebraic visual materials using technology and specialized visual materials. But, they experienced the difficulty in justifying due to the lack of experimental recognition with the representation using technology. The specialized visual materials limited the extension of mathematics thinking of students because it worked only for the case that is fixed. In order to solve this type of problem, we made algebraic visual materials for 9th graders using technology and generalized visual materials so that students experience for themselves to help them to experience experimental justification, thus we recognized that they were improved in enhancing mathematical thinking.

  • In this paper, we investigate and analysis high school students' generalization of cosine rule using analogy, and we study teaching and learning methods improving students' analogical thinking ability to improve mathematical thinking process. When students can reproduce what they have learned through inductive reasoning process or analogical thinking process and when they can justify their own mathematical knowledge through logical inference or deductive reasoning process, they can truly internalize what they learn and have an ability to use it in various situations.

A Study on the Policy Direction for Establishing Research Ethics (연구윤리 정착을 위한 정책방향에 관한 연구)

  • Hwang's scandal give us opportunity to aware about the research ethics, but that can not be established firmly in researcher or the researcher communities. This study analyse the case of research misconduct in order to establish research ethics that was appeared in Assembly hearing process for the candidate of the minister of education(MOE) in July 9, 2014. Based on the analytic results, this study is proposed that provide the institutions to promote responsible conduct of research, implement the research ethics education to all researchers and improve the laboratory culture and evaluation system. This study has the limitations because a single case study. The study is expected to have interest in research ethics and to be up to empirical generalizations through quantitative research.

  • 최근 한의학 분야에서도 객관성 확보를 위한 학문적 경험의 수량화연구가 일반화되고 있다. 이의 일환으로 한방부인과의 진단 기준 프로그램개발이 요구되고 있으며 본 논문에서는 이에 대한 해결책으로 가중주성분분석을 이용한 변증점수 개발을 제안하고 있다. 또한 이 과정에서 변증유형별 점수 비교를 하기 위한 변증점수의 사후조정에 대한 방법도 제시하고있다.
