Effects of the Inclined Angles of Channel on Thermal Stability of Electronic Components (채널의 경사각이 전자부품의 열적 안정성에 미치는 영향)

  • An experimental study was carried out to investigate the effects of inclined angles of channel on thermal stability of electronic components. In this study, it is focused on the natural convection heat transfer from an inclined parallel channel with discrete protruding heat sources. The material used for the inclined parallel channel was epoxy-resin, while air as the cooling fluid. Heat transfer phenomena for inclined angles of $\psi$=$15^{\circ}$, $30^{\circ}$, $45^{\circ}$, $60^{\circ}$ and for the range of $9.52{\times}10^5/ were analyzed. The thermal fields in the channel were visualized by Mach-Zehnder interferometer. Also, local temperatures were measured by thermocouples along the channel wall and heat sources surface. As a result, for the range of $4.29{\times} 10^5/, a useful correlation of mean Nusselt number was proposed as a function of modified channel Rayleigh number.

  • The objective of the present work is to examine the effect of inclined angle of channel with multi heat source on thermal stability of electronic equipment. The heat sources are mounted on both sides of channel walls by two kinds of configuration such as the zig-zag md symmetric on. Conductive heat transfer was estimated by using of thermocouples and heat flux sensor. Thus, convective heat transfer and mean Nusselt number could be obtained. With increased inclined angle, the convective heat transfer coefficient was decreased. When inclined angle was smaller than 30 degree, The average Nusselt number of Big-zag configuration was larger than that of symmetric. Furthermore, when protruding ration was 0.082, the temperature was strongly affected by inclined angle. whereas, when protruding ration was 0.25, the temperature was strongly affected by heat source configuration.

A Novel Method for Emotion Recognition based on the EEG Signal using Gradients (EEG 신호 기반 경사도 방법을 통한 감정인식에 대한 연구)

  • There are several algorithms to classify emotion, such as Support-vector-machine (SVM), Bayesian decision rule, etc. However, many researchers have insisted that these methods have minor problems. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a novel method for emotion recognition based on Electroencephalogram (EEG) signal using the Gradient method which was proposed by Han. We also utilize a database for emotion analysis using physiological signals (DEAP) to obtain objective data. And we acquire four channel brainwaves, including Fz (${\alpha}$), Fp2 (${\beta}$), F3 (${\alpha}$), F4 (${\alpha}$) which are selected in previous study. We use 4 features which are power spectral density (PSD) of the above channels. According to performance evaluation (4-fold cross validation), we could get 85% accuracy in valence axis and 87.5% in arousal. It is 5-7% higher than existing method's.

Seismic Structure in the Northwestern Margin of the Okinawa Trough (오키나와트러프 북서 주변부의 탄성파 구조)

  • The Okinawa Trough is a rift basin formed by extension. Analysis of multichannel seismic reflection profiles from the northwestern margin of the northern Okinawa Trough reveal that the trough is characterized by a series of tilted fault blocks bounded by listric normal faults and half-grabens developed between blocks, showing typical rifted structures. The trough display three kinds of sedimentary sequences with different seismic reflection characteristics: prerift, synrift and postrift sediments. The prerift sequence develops parallel to the dip direction of tilted fault blocks. The synrift sediments, mostly deposited in the half-grabens between tilted fault blocks, are generally well characterized by divergence of the reflectors towards the blocks indicating contemporaneous deposition during tilting. The postrift sediments are featured by continuous and parallel reflectors. The width of the half-graben and the throw-displacement rate of the basin bounding fault are closely connected. The throw-displacement rate is the maximum when the rifting event is the most active and the width of the half-graben is proportional to the rate.

  • This paper analyzes the properties of such algorithm that corresponds to the nonlinear adaptive algorithm with additional update terns, parameterized by the scalar factors ${\alpha}1,\;and\;{\alpha}2$. The analysis of concergence leads to eigenvalues of the transition matrix for the mean filter coefficient vector. Regions in which the algorithm becomes stable are demonstrated. The time constant is derived and the computational complexity of the QFG algorithm is compared with those of the conventional LMS. sign, and LFG algorithm. The properties of convergence in the mean square error is derived and the neccessary condition for the CFG algorithm to be stable is attaned. In the computer simulation a channel equalization is utilized to demonstrate the performance feature of the QFG algorithm. The QFG algorithm has the more computational complexities but the faster convergence speed than LMS and LFG algorithm. Since the QFG algorithm has smoother convergence, it may be useful in case where error bursting is a problem.

  • We have fabricated the poly-silicon thin film transistor(TFT) which has the LDD-region with graded spacer. The devices of n-channel poly-si TFT's hydrogenated by $H_2$ and $H_2$/plasma processes were fabricated for the devices reliability. We have biased the devices under the gate voltage stress conditions of maximum leakage current. The parametric characteristics caused by gate voltage stress conditions in hydrogenated devices are investigated by measuring/analyzing the drain current, leakage current, threshold voltage($V_{th}$), sub-threshold slope(S) and transconductance($G_m$) values. As a analyzed results of characteristics parameters, the degradation characteristics in hydrogenated n-channel polysilicon TFT's are mainly caused by the enhancement of dangling bonds at the poly-Si/$SiO_2$ interface and the poly-Si grain boundary due to dissolution of Si-H bonds. The structure of novel proposed poly-Si TFT's are the simplicities of the fabrication process steps and the decrease of leakage current by reduced lateral electric field near the drain region.

  • Multichannel seismic survey has conducied along the South Scotia Ridge which is located in the northern part of Weddell sea, Antarctic sea, The South Scotia Ridge is part of continental crust extended from Antarctic Peninsula. It borders on Oceanic plates, the Scotia sea plate and Powell basin. Transtensional tectonics along the sinistral transform fault plate boundary led to the creation of the present tectonic geomorphology of the South Scotia Ridge. The fan-shaped deposits with angular unconformities in the central depression is interpreted as a divergent tectonic movement along the ridge.

  • A numerical simulation on the flow field of a valveless bidirectional piezoelectric micropump has been performed. In this type of micropump, the oscillation of the piezoelectric diaphragm generates the blowing and suction flow through the oblique channel from the pumping chamber. The angle between the oblique and main channel causes the variation of flow distribution through upstream and downstream channels in suction and blowing modes. In the suction flow mode, the working fluid flows from both the upstream and downstream of the main channel to the pumping chamber through the oblique channel. However, in the blowing flow mode, the fluid pushed out of the pumping chamber flows more toward the downstream of the main channel due to the inertia of the fluid. In the present study, the effects of geometries such as the angle of oblique channel and the shape of main channel on the flow rate of the up/downstream were investigated. The flow rate obtained from the pump and the energy required to the pump were also analyzed for various displacements and frequencies of the oscillation of the diaphragm.

Proof-of-principle Experimental Study of the CMA-ES Phase-control Algorithm Implemented in a Multichannel Coherent-beam-combining System (다채널 결맞음 빔결합 시스템에서 CMA-ES 위상 제어 알고리즘 구현에 관한 원리증명 실험적 연구)

  • In this study, the feasibility of using the covariance-matrix-adaptation-evolution-strategy (CMA-ES) algorithm in a multichannel coherent-beam-combining (CBC) system was experimentally verified. We constructed a multichannel CBC system utilizing a spatial light modulator (SLM) as a multichannel phase-modulator array, along with a coherent light source at 635 nm, implemented the stochastic-parallel-gradient-descent (SPGD) and CMA-ES algorithms on it, and compared their performances. In particular, we evaluated the characteristics of the CMA-ES and SPGD algorithms in the CBC system in both 16-channel rectangular and 19-channel honeycomb formats. The results of the evaluation showed that the performances of the two algorithms were similar on average, under the given conditions; However, it was verified that under the given conditions the CMA-ES algorithm was able to operate with more stable performance than the SPGD algorithm, as the former had less operational variation with the initial phase setting than the latter. It is emphasized that this study is the first proof-of-principle demonstration of the CMA-ES phase-control algorithm in a multichannel CBC system, to the best of our knowledge, and is expected to be useful for future experimental studies of the effects of additional channel-number increments, or external-phase-noise effects, in multichannel CBC systems based on the CMA-ES phase-control algorithm.
