  • According to Plato's ontology, we lead our lives by establishing a relationship with others in the society. However in rapidly changing era, our lives was gradually moving towards personal tendency. Even for the relationship with family, not with others. Thus, awareness about owning properties has changed due to the sociocultural factors and increase number of single-person households. So in this study, the considerations for single-person housing were perceived through preceding research, and the elements making spatial boundary of shared housing were drawn to make rational space sharing based on the boundary with others and of the living environment. With overall analysis based on the spatial boundary features of planned shared housing, the plan characteristics according to the spatial boundary of the current shared housing is to be drawn and analyzed. Third, The expressive and structural features of spatial boundary as above appear with mutual flexible connectivity, And the result shows that the modularity was the highest. Among them variable coupling modularity of shows how it is possible to combine efficiently and variously the private and public spaces with regularity of 'space of optimal unit'. This study drew plan characteristics from more detailed space border of shared housing. Therefore, The basic framework of the characteristics spin for the cases that newly emerge later on.

  • A Hangul input method consists of two core components: key layout for primitive units (Natja), and binding rules to form more complex, composite units from primitive ones. However, careless design and implementation of an input method may result in ambiguity and inability of contiguous typing, when it comes to handle composite Hangul units. This is due to the collective nature of Hangul, namely, existence of implicit boundaries between units and syllables. This issue gets more challenging for the context-dependent 2-beolsik method, mobile environment having significantly fewer keys, and yet addition of the support for Old Hangul. For the sake of the management of complexity, we devised a system in which the binding rule is divided into two layers rather than one. Based on this concept, we implemented a tool program that, given the primitive units and their binding rules, generates input details of every composite unit and detects any potential ambiguity and conflicts. We presented the actual analysis result for Samsung Cheonji-in and KT Naratgeul, two of the most popular mobile Hangul input methods used in Korea.

  • The 3DTV services can be seen as a general case of the multi-view video that has been receiving a significant attention lately. However, the key factors that influence the success of 3DTV are the availability of content, the ease of use, the quality of contents, and the reduction of cost. This paper deals primarily with the perceptual improvement in image quality, especially based on human factors. An optimal asymmetrical coding method for binocular and multi-view images is presented. The quantitative value of asymmetrical rate to maintain optimized subjective image quality is explored. Also we analyze how edges of 2D images affect on 3D perceptions and propose an edge-preserving algorithm to perform perceptual improvements. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm enhances subjective image quality much better than conventional methods.

  • The analysis of characteristics of turbulent flow and thermal boundary layer for natural convection caused by fire along vertical wall is performed. The 4m-high vertical copper plate is heated and kept at a uniform surface temperature of $60^{\circ}C$ and the surrounding fluid (air) is kept at $16.5^{\circ}C$. The flow and temperature is solved by large eddy simulation(LES) of FDS code(Ver.6), in which the viscous-sublayer flow is calculated by Werner-Wengle wall function. The whole analyzed domain is assumed as turbulent region to apply wall function even through the laminar flow is transient to the turbulent flow between $10^9$<$Gr_z$<$10^{10}$ in experiments. The various grids from $7{\times}7{\times}128$ to $18{\times}18{\times}128$ are applied to investigate the sensitivity of wall function to $x^+$ value in LES simulation. The mean velocity and temperature profiles in the turbulent boundary layer are compared with experimental data by Tsuji & Nagano and the results from other LES simulation in which the viscous-sublayer flow is directly solved with many grids. The relationship between heat transfer rate($Nu_z$) and $Gr_zPr$ is investigated and calculated heat transfer rates are compared with theoretical equation and experimental data.

  • This paper studies the applicability of the method of caustics into anisotropic materials under mode I and mixed static loading conditions and introduces the procedure to obtain stress intensity factors(S.I.F.) in anisotropic materials by the method of caustics. The mapping equations for initial and caustic curves in anisotropic materials were introduced and their computer graphical images were compared to the experimental ones to check the validity of the mapping equations proposed in this paper. The agreement between them was found to satisfactory. Two kinds of method to determine S.I.F. in anisotropic materials by the method of caustics were proposed in this paper and applied into the orthotropic materials under various loading conditions. In the case of mode I loading condition, the S.I.F.'s obtained by this paper's methods were found to be quite similar to the results by other method, boundary element method(B.E.M) and in the case of mixed loading condtion, the S.I.F's by this paper and B.E.M. showed a little differences(2.2-24.4%) with respect to the slanted angle of crack.

  • The friction and wear between machine components directly influence the energy loss and failure in various machines. Therefore, there is always a demand for finding methods to reduce friction and wear. Of the possible methods, lubrication is a widely used method for reducing friction and wear. In the case of lubrication, it is important to analyze the tribological behavior in the boundary lubrication because most of friction and wear occurs in the boundary lubrication regime. Cast iron has been regarded as a good material for industrial applications due to the excellent mechanical properties and high productivity. Especially, nodular cast iron is a material that shows better mechanical properties and wear-resistance compared with cast iron due to inclusion of spheroidal graphite. In this work, we investigated the tribological characteristics of nodular cast iron with respect to different counter parts in boundary lubrication regime. Sliding tests were conducted with SUJ2, ZrO2, Si3N4 balls as counter parts using a pin-on-disk type tribotester. The results showed different friction and wear behaviors with different counter parts. The case of ZrO2 showed the lowest wear rate in specimen and no significant ball wear. In case of SUJ2, it showed similar wear rate with ZrO2 case in specimen and the highest friction coefficient. The case of Si3N4 showed the lowest friction coefficient, 33% lower than the case of SUJ2. It showed 16.9 times larger wear rate in specimen and 43% larger wear rate in ball compared to that of the SUJ2 case.

  • This study, by analyzing two recent television dramas, attempts to identify the ways how popular cultural texts deal with supernatural beings and to discuss political meanings of the ways in the context of neoliberal Korea. The results are: (1) The narratives make a clear line between the supernatural and the ordinary. (2) The supernatural is effectively used in the narratives to extend the boundary of conflict structure towards structural social problems that the society is now facing. (3) When the text resolving the conflicts, the supernatural is also critical, which makes the whle narrative in line with fantasy rather than reality. These results suggest that the conclusion of the previous studies, arguing the use of the supernatural by popular cultural texts tends to function as a form of resistance against neoliberal discourse structure, needs to be negotiated. It is also reaffirmed that we need to explain political meanings of popular cultural texts dealing with supernatural beings, with its double-sided and ambivalent effects.

  • Cheju Island formed by Quarternary volcanism provides highly permeable hydrogeological environment. To meet the increasing demand of water in the island, many groundwater wells have been developed. The environmental isotopes(oxygen-18, deuterium, tritium) and chemical analysis of water samples from the eastern part of the island were carried out to ascertain whether groundwater in the eastern part of the island was contaminated by sea water. The result of tritium analysis indicated fast infiltration of meteoric water into underground and rapid mixing process between rain water and groundwater. The results of oxygen-18 and deuterium analysis demonstrated that most of the wells in the eastern part of the island were influenced by sea water intrusion. Chemical analysis of water samples revealed that most groundwater in study area were classified into Na-Cl type and showed high chloride/bicarbonate ratios. Sea water intrusion in the northeastern part of the island has proceeded at least 3 km within the coastaline, and in the south eastern part about 700m.

  • The transmission coefficients of impermeable submerged breakwater on permeable bottom are computed numerically using a boundary element method. The analysis method is based on the wave pressure function with the continuity in the analytical region including fluid and structures. Wave motion over permeable bottom is simulated by introducing a linear dissipation coefficient and an added mass coefficient. The results indicate that the wave over permeable bottom travels being damped, and that transmission coefficients for permeable bottom are smaller than those for impermeable bottom, and result from the change of width and height of submerged breakwater.

  • This paper presents a design methodology for improving the energy efficiency by considering the inertial properties of serial manipulators. This method employed is to put the inertia matrix, which has a critical effect on the equation of motion, into the constraints of the optimization problem. Through the optimization process, we propose a design algorithm that can double-check whether the optimized parameters satisfy the required performance or not by using an auxiliary index associated with the inertia and energy. Using this design algorithm, we were able to improve the energy efficiency by minimizing the torque. We applied this method to a 3 degrees of freedom serial manipulator and simulated it.
