  • An image coding based on MRC model, a kind of multi-layer image model, first segments a screen image into foreground, mask, and background layers, and then compresses each layer using a codec that is suitable to the layer. The mask layer defines the position of foreground regions such as textual and graphical contents. The colour signal of the foreground (background) region is saved in the foreground (background) layer. The mask layer which contains the segmentation result of foreground and background regions is of importance since its accuracy directly affects the overall coding performance of the codec. This paper proposes a new layer segmentation algorithm for the MRC based image coding. The proposed method extracts text pixels from the background using morphological top hat filtering. The application of white or black top hat transformation to local blocks is controlled by the information of relative brightness of text compared to the background. In the proposed method, the boundary information of text that is extracted from the edge map of the block is used for the robust decision on the relative brightness of text. Simulation results show that the proposed method is superior to the conventional methods.

  • The yellowing is always occurred phenomena in epoxy restoration material of antic-ceramics. For re-restoration of remains with epoxy restoration material, the epoxy elimination step is the first one in all course of restoration In this paper, the chemically elimination treatments methods of epoxy in various antic-ceramics were discussed. We fabricated the epoxy elimination material for antic-ceramics restoration which were made up Dichloromethane and Dichlormethane based Dimethylformamide solution. Dichloromethane and Dichloromethane + Dimethylformamide mixture were applied to epoxy in various antic-ceramic sample. Particularly, Dichloromethane + Dimethylformamide solution had the best result in variation of color change, gloss, vending strength, weight, exfoliation time test after deposition in this solution. Dichloromrthane had the volume increase characteristics for epoxy material and Dimethylformamide had the mollification ones. So, Dichloromathane increased exfoliation in approximal surface of the epoxy material and antic ceramic, and Dimethylformamide decreased the surface hardness of epoxy. In this result, epoxy material even inside of ceramic that have very weak inside bonding is adaptable and stable eliminated. And in order to show the perfect elimination of this material, we successfully dissolve the epoxy restoration material in one antic pottery that is in one university museum's possession using this mixture. So, there is guarantee in the eternity and stabilization of restoration for antic-ceramics.

  • In case that the maximum temperature of any surface readily accessible during transport of a spent nuclear fuel (SNF) transport cask exceeds $85^{\circ}C$ in the absence of insolation under the ambient temperature of $38^{\circ}C$, personnel barriers or transport hood shall be used to prevent people from casual contact with the transport cask surface. Usually the air temperature within the hood and the hood surface temperature are calculated and further utilized as boundary conditions(free stream temperature and external radiation temperature) for thermal evaluation under normal conditions of transport. In this study, these temperatures are derived using the analytical method based on the heat transfer mechanism around the transport cask under transport hood assuming the thermal equilibrium. By comparing the analytical solutions with the results from the detailed calculations with CFD-computer-code FLUENT 12.1 it is verified that the analytical method is still efficient tool to estimate the temperatures and these temperatures can be further used as boundary conditions for thermal evaluation under normal conditions of transport.

  • To determine the shallow subsurface structure and sliding surface of land creeping in 2016 at Hadong-gun, Gyeongsangnam-do, geophysical surveys (electric resistivity, and refraction seismic methods, borehole televiewer) and slope stability analysis were conducted. The subsurface structure delineated with borehole lithologies and seismic velocity structures provided the information that the sediment layer on the top of the slope was rather as thick as 20 m and the underlying weathered rock (anorthosite) was thinner than 1 m. Based on the tension cracks observed during the geological mapping, televiewer scanning was performed at the borehole BH-2 and detected the intensive fracture zones at the ground-water level, associated with the slip weak zones mapped in dipole-dipole electrical resistivity section. Downslope sliding and slightly upward pushing at the apex of high resistive bedrock explains the curved slip plane of the land creeping. Such a convex structure might play a role of natural toe abutment for preventing the downward development of slip weak zones. In slope stability analysis, the safety factors of the slip weak zone are calculated with varying the groundwater levels for dry and rainy seasons and the downslope is founded to be unstable with safety factor of 0.89 due to fully saturated material in rainy season.

  • In this study, reproducing specimens were made from mixing domestically produced magnetite, clay and non-plastic raw materials to reproduce the pigments used in the manufacture of traditional cheolhwa buncheong stoneware. In order to reveal the color fomation of glaze, 30 specimens with good color development were analyzed scientifically. Magnetite, which is the main raw material of the pigment, is a pigment capable of creating a dark black color in a reducing environment at 1,200℃. However, it reacts with the additionally added lime component and discolors to greenish yellow color in oxidizing environment at 1,230℃. Hematite is not significantly affected by the firing temperature and environment, but develops a dark black color when mixed with clay with iron content of more than 10%. The fluidity of the pigment is determined by R2O3/RO2 value, which also affects the color development. In the microtexture observation, the color formation of the glaze layer and the iron oxide crystals identified some differences depending on the particle size of the pigment and the firing environment. Reproduced specimens made of magnetite are present in the form of aggregates of iron oxide in the interface between glaze layer and slip layer in the oxidizing environment at 1,200℃. However, in the reducing environment, aggregates of iron oxides do not exist in the reproduced specimens, and they are homogeneously distributed in the glaze layer and formed a dark black color. In contrast, hematite-based specimens form dendritic structures in the glaze layer in an oxidizing environment and develop black.

  • The model used in this study was reversed to analyze the cause of excessive damage that occurred inside the rotating system and pipe system of a centrifugal-type seawater pump on a ship. For this purpose, internal flow analysis on a cooling seawater pump was performed using CFD. As a result, the shape and boundary conditions of the target pump were set by reverse engineering, and pump efficiency at a design operating point of $125m^3/h$ was calculated as 85.3 % with a head of 32.0 m. The maximum efficiency point of the target pump was estimated to be 86.2 % at $150m^3/h$, but this differed from the actual operating point. At $112.5m^3/h$, which was the lowest flow point, flow was unstable due to the characteristics of the low flow point and analysis convergence was not good. The purpose of this study was to clarify the cause of ongoing cavitation in seawater pumps and piping systems in operation. Future research will be needed to clarify causes for pipe systems in the future by performing calculations for the total piping system of an inlet and outlet, in addition to measuring the flow rate of each branch pipe.

  • The particle based computational fluid dynamics (CFD) method, which follow Lagrangian approach for fluid dynamics, fluid particle behavior by tracking all particle calculation physical quantities of each particle. According to basic concept of particle based CFD method, it is difficult to satisfy continuum theory and measure influences from neighboring particle. Article number density and weight function were used to solve aforementioned issue. Difficulties continuum mean simulate non-continuum particles such as solid including granular and sand. In this regard, the particle based CFD method modified solid particle problems by replacing viscous and surface tension forces friction and drag forces. In this paper, particle interaction model for solid particle friction model implemented to simulate solid particle problems. The broken dam problem, which is common to verify particle based CFD method, used fluid or solid particles. The angle of repose was observed in the simulation results the solid particle not fluid particle.

  • This research describes render pass synthetic techniques required to use for the effectiveness of them in 3D animation synthetic technology. As the render pass is divided by property and synthesized after rendering, elaborate, rapid synthesis can be achieved. In particular, occlusion pass creates a screen as if it had a soft, light shading, expressing a sense of depth and boundary softness. It is converted into 2D image through a process of pass rendering of animation projects created in 3D space, then completed in synthetic software. Namely, 3D animation realizes the completeness of work originally planned through compositing, a synthetic process in the last half. To complete in-depth image, a scene manufactured in 3D software can be sent as a synthetic program by rendering the scene by layer and property. As recently the occlusion pass can express depth notwithstanding conducting GI rendering of 3D graphic outputs, it is an important synthetic map not omitted in the post-production process. Nonetheless, for the importance of it, currently the occlusion pass leaves much to be desired for research support and books summarizing and analyzing the characteristics of properties, and the principles and usages of them. Hence, this research was aimed to summarize the principles and usages of occlusion map, and analyze differences in the results of synthesis. Furthermore, it also summarized a process designating renderers and the map utilizing the properties, and synthetic software usages. For the future, it is hoped that effective and diverse latter expression techniques will be studied beyond the limitation of graphic expression based on trends diversifying technique development.

  • demand for a low-cost treatment technology is high because the sewage sludge has an 80% or higher water content and a high energy consumption cost. This study apply the thermal hydrolysis reaction that consumes a small amount of energy for sludge treatment. The purpose of this study is to quantify the viscosity of sewage sludge according to reaction temperature. we measured continuously the torque of dewatered sludge by the reaction temperature. As the reaction temperature increased, the dewatered sludge is thermal hydrolysis under a high temperature and pressure. Therefore, the bond water in the sludge cells comes out as free water, which changes the dewatered sludge from a solid phase to slurry of a liquid phase. The results of the viscosity measurements according to the reaction temperature showed that the viscosity was very high at $270,180kg/m{\cdot}sec$ at a temperature of 293K, but rapidly decreased with increases in the reaction temperature to $12kg/m{\cdot}sec$ at a temperature of 400K and to $4kg/m{\cdot}sec$ at a temperature of 460K or higher, similar to the changes in the viscosity of water. And we was obtained the viscosity function of boundary condition for the optimal design of thermal hydrolysis reactor by numerical modeling based on the this results.

  • Using a modified Posner's cue-target paradigm, we investigated whether negative cues attract more attention than neutral cues in anxious people. Previous studies used commonly an unbalanced proportion of valid and invalid trials(75% vs. 25% respectively). But in the present study, an equivalent proportion of valid and invalids trials was used for measuring detection speed of cues without participant's expectancy caused by the unbalanced proportion. Emotional words(Experiment 1) and facial expressions(Experiment 2) were used as cues for target locations. The result of Experiment 1 and 2 showed that threatening cues facilitated target detection in valid trials and interfered with it in invalid trials in anxious participants and a, reverse response patterns were found in non-anxious participants. This indicates that threatening cues attract more attention to the cued location in anxious people and in contrast, non-anxious people avoid threatening stimuli. In Experiment 3, we investigated the difference of validity effect across anxiety levels. The results showed that anxious participants gave less attention to cued location when the cues were non-informative whereas non-anxious participants gave more attention to cued locations in the same condition. We discussed two kinds of cognitive bias caused by anxiety levels: attentional bias and proportion related bias.
