Enhanced Dual Motion Estimation Algorithm for Frame Rate Up-Conversion (프레임 율 향상을 위한 향상된 이중 움직임 추정 기법)

  • 본 논문은 프레임 율 향상을 위한 움직임 추정 알고리듬을 제안한다. 양방향 움직임 추정은 중첩 영역이나 홀 (hole) 영역이 발생하지 않지만 물체의 실제 움직임을 찾는 데에 어려움이 있다. 이중 움직임 추정 방법은 이를 어느정도 해결하였지만 여전히 실제 물체의 이동과는 다른 움직임 벡터들이 남아있다. 움직임 벡터의 정확도를 향상시키기 위해 기존의 이중 움직임 추정 알고리듬을 토대로 SMD (side matching distortion)를 움직임 추정 매칭 식에 결합한 새로운 매칭 기준 식을 제안한다. 결과적으로 제안하는 알고리듬은 기존의 이중움직임 추정 방법에 비해 정량적으로 PSNR (peark signal-to-noise ratio)이 크게 향상되었으며 주관적으로도 뛰어난 결과를 보여주었다.

Multi-View Wyner-Ziv Video Coding Based on Spatio-temporal Adaptive Estimation (시공간 적응적인 예측에 기초한 다시점 위너-지브 비디오 부호화 기법)

  • This paper proposes a multi-view Wyner-Ziv Video coding scheme based on spatio-temporal adaptive estimation. The proposed algorithm is designed to search for a better estimated block with joint bi-directional motion estimation by introducing weights between temporal and spatial directions, and by classifying effectively the region of interest blocks, which is based on the edge detection and the synthesis, and by selecting the reference estimation block from the effective motion vector analysis. The proposed algorithm exploits the information of a single frame viewpoint and adjacent frame viewpoints, simultaneously and then generates adaptively side information in a variety of closure, and reflection regions to have a better performance. Through several simulations with multi-view video sequences, it is shown that the proposed algorithm performs visual quality improvement as well as bit-rate reduction, compared to the conventional methods.

Depth map temporal consistency compensation using motion estimation (움직임 추정을 통한 깊이 지도의 시간적 일관성 보상 기법)

  • Generally, a camera isn't located at the center of display in a tele-presence system and it causes an incorrect eye contact between speakers which reduce the realistic feeling during the conversation. To solve this incorrect eye contact problem, we newly propose an intermediate view reconstruction algorithm using both a color camera and a depth camera and applying for the depth image based rendering (DIBR) algorithm. In the proposed algorithm, an efficient hole filling method using the arithmetic mean value of neighbor pixels and an efficient boundary noise removal method by expanding the edge region of depth image are included. We show that the generated eye-contacted image has good quality through experiments.
