Elevators are the main means of transport in buildings. A malfunction of an elevator in operation may cause in convenience to users. Furthermore, fatal accidents, such as injuries and death, may occur to the passengers also. Therefore, it is important to prevent failure before accidents happen. In related studies, preventive measures are proposed through analyzing failures, and the lifespan of elevator components. However, these methods are limited to existing an elevator model and its surroundings, including operating conditions and installed environments. Vibration occurs when the elevator is operated. Experts have classified types of faults, which are symptoms for malfunctions (failures), via analyzing vibration. This study proposes an artificial intelligent model for classifying faults automatically with deep learning algorithms through elevator vibration data, hereby preventing failures before they occur. In this study, the vibration data of six elevators are collected. The proposed methodology in this paper removes "the measurement error data" with incorrect measurements and extracts operating sections from the input datasets for proceeding deep learning models. As a result of comparing the performance of training five deep learning models, the maximum performance indicates Accuracy 97% and F1 Score 97%, respectively. This paper presents an artificial intelligent model for detecting elevator fault automatically. The users' safety and convenience may increase by detecting fault prior to the fatal malfunctions. In addition, it is possible to reduce manpower and time by assisting experts who have previously classified faults.

A malfunction or breakdown of a manufacturing facility leads to product defects and the suspension of production lines, resulting in huge financial losses for manufacturers. Due to the spread of smart factory services, a large amount of data is being collected in factories, and AI-based research is being conducted to predict and diagnose manufacturing facility breakdowns or manufacturing site efficiency. However, because of the characteristics of manufacturing data, such as a severe class imbalance about abnormalities and ambiguous label information that distinguishes abnormalities, developing classification or anomaly detection models is highly difficult. In this paper, we present an deep learning algorithm for anomaly detection of a manufacturing facility using reconstruction loss of CNN-based model and ananlyze its performance. The algorithm detects anomalies by relying solely on normal data from the facility's manufacturing data in the exclusion of abnormal data.

This research proposes a novel approach to tackle the challenge of categorizing unstructured customer complaints in the automotive industry. The goal is to identify potential vehicle defects based on the findings of our algorithm, which can assist automakers in mitigating significant losses and reputational damage caused by mass claims. To achieve this goal, our model uses the Word2Vec method to analyze large volumes of unstructured customer complaint data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). By developing a score dictionary for eight pre-selected criteria, our algorithm can efficiently categorize complaints and detect potential vehicle defects. By calculating the score of each complaint, our algorithm can identify patterns and correlations that can indicate potential defects in the vehicle. One of the key benefits of this approach is its ability to handle a large volume of unstructured data, which can be challenging for traditional methods. By using machine learning techniques, we can extract meaningful insights from customer complaints, which can help automakers prioritize and address potential defects before they become widespread issues. In conclusion, this research provides a promising approach to categorize unstructured customer complaints in the automotive industry and identify potential vehicle defects. By leveraging the power of machine learning, we can help automakers improve the quality of their products and enhance customer satisfaction. Further studies can build upon this approach to explore other potential applications and expand its scope to other industries.
Losses in domestic water supply due to leaks are very large, such as fractures and defects in pipelines. Therefore, preventive measures to prevent water leakage are necessary. We propose the development of a leakage detection sensor utilizing vibration sensors and present an optimal leakage detection algorithm leveraging artificial intelligence. Vibrational sound data acquired from water pipelines undergo a preprocessing stage using FFT (Fast Fourier Transform), followed by leakage classification using an optimized tree-based boosting algorithm. Applying this method to approximately 260,000 experimental data points from various real-world scenarios resulted in a 97% accuracy, a 4% improvement over existing SVM(Support Vector Machine) methods. The processing speed also increased approximately 80 times, confirming its suitability for edge device applications.

In this research, we propose a Semi-Supervised learning based railroad surface defect detection method. The Resnet50 model, pretrained on ImageNet, was employed for the training. Data without labels are randomly selected, and then labeled to train the ResNet50 model. The trained model is used to predict the results of the remaining unlabeled training data. The predicted values exceeding a certain threshold are selected, sorted in descending order, and added to the training data. Pseudo-labeling is performed based on the class with the highest probability during this process. An experiment was conducted to assess the overall class classification performance based on the initial number of labeled data. The results showed an accuracy of 98% at best with less than 10% labeled training data compared to the overall training data.

In a structure, damage can occur at several scales from micro-cracking to corrosion or loose bolts. This makes the identification of damage difficult with one mode of sensing. Hence, a multi-mode actuated sensing system is proposed based on a self-sensing circuit using a piezoelectric sensor. In the self sensing-based multi-mode actuated sensing, one mode provides a wide frequency-band structural response from the self-sensed impedance measurement and the other mode provides a specific frequency-induced structural wavelet response from the self-sensed guided wave measurement. In this study, an experimental study on the pipeline system is carried out to verify the effectiveness and the robustness of the proposed structural health monitoring approach. Different types of structural damage are artificially inflicted on the pipeline system. To classify the multiple types of structural damage, a supervised learning-based statistical pattern recognition is implemented by composing a two-dimensional space using the damage indices extracted from the impedance and guided wave features. For more systematic damage classification, several control parameters to determine an optimal decision boundary for the supervised learning-based pattern recognition are optimized. Finally, further research issues will be discussed for real-world implementation of the proposed approach.
As one of the processes in the manufacturing industry, quality inspection inspects the intermediate products or final products to separate the good-quality goods that meet the quality management standard and the defective goods that do not. The manual inspection of quality in a mass production system may result in low consistency and efficiency. Therefore, the quality inspection of mass-produced products involves automatic checking and classifying by the machines in many processes. Although there are many preceding studies on improving or optimizing the process using the data generated in the production process, there have been many constraints with regard to actual implementation due to the technical limitations of processing a large volume of data in real time. The recent research studies on big data have improved the data processing technology and enabled collecting, processing, and analyzing process data in real time. This paper aims to propose the process and details of applying big data for quality inspection and examine the applicability of the proposed method to the dairy industry. We review the previous studies and propose a big data analysis procedure that is applicable to the manufacturing sector. To assess the feasibility of the proposed method, we applied two methods to one of the quality inspection processes in the dairy industry: convolutional neural network and random forest. We collected, processed, and analyzed the images of caps and straws in real time, and then determined whether the products were defective or not. The result confirmed that there was a drastic increase in classification accuracy compared to the quality inspection performed in the past.

The purpose of this study is to compare microleakage and penetration depths of sealants applied in carious and sound fissures. Extracted premolars(n=80) were divided into 4 groups according to caries status. 1; sound, 2; stained, 3; initial caries, 4; enamel caries. Sealants were applied to the occlusal groove as per manufacturers' instructions, and specimens were thermocycled, stained, sectioned, and examined for microleakage and penetration ability. The results of the present study are as follow: 1. It showed significantly higher microleakage scores in group I than group Two, Three, Four(p<0.05), but no significant difference was found between group Two, Three, and IV(p>0.05). 2. It showed significantly higher penetration scores in group Four (p<0.05), followed by group One, Two, Three, but no significant difference was found between group One, Two, and Three(p>0.05). Based on the results of present study, when the borders of the fissure sealant are on carious enamel, a significantly higher microleakage must be expected. It is considered that depth of enamel caries in the fissure should be taken into account when applying a fissure sealant.

A reliable detection of regions in radiography is one of the most important task before the evaluation of defects on welded joints. The extracted features is to be classified into distinctive clusters for each segmented region. But conventional segmentation techniques give unsatisfactory results for this task due to the spatial superposition of intensity and low signal-to-ratio(SNR) in radiographic images. The usage of global or local processes not only provide the necessary noise resistance but also fail in classification of regions. In this paper, we presents an appropriate approach for segmentation of region-based indications in industrial Computed Radiography(CR) images. The geometric differences between welded and non-welded area which is generated on radiography as the representative regions(background, thickness, middle and welded region in steel tube image) have constructed the hierarchical structure. Although this structure is contaminated by noise, the scheme between regions can be selected by the help of local clustering based on distinctive geometric property of each region. Because of the geometric nature of the considered region and so that the region is selected layer by layer, and that the real class represents the boundary between regions, the vertical and horizontal clustering process in each layer must be judicious. In order to show the effectiveness of this approach, a comparative experiment of various segmentation method is performed on industrial steel tube CR images.

In recent, sensors embedded in robots, equipment, and circuits have become common, and research for diagnosing device failures by learning measured sensor data is being actively conducted. This failure diagnosis study is divided into a classification model for predicting failure situations or types and a regression model for numerically predicting failure conditions. In the case of a classification model, it simply checks the presence or absence of a failure or defect (Class), whereas a regression model has a higher learning difficulty because it has to predict one value among countless numbers. So, the reason that regression modeling is more difficult is that there are many irregular situations in which it is difficult to determine one output from a similar input when predicting by matching input and output. Therefore, in this paper, we focus on input and output data with periodicity, analyze the input/output relationship, and secure regularity between input and output data by performing sliding window-based input data patterning. In order to apply the proposed method, in this study, current and temperature data with periodicity were collected from MMC(Modular Multilevel Converter) circuit system and learning was carried out using ANN. As a result of the experiment, it was confirmed that when a window of 2% or more of one cycle was applied, performance of 97% or more of fit could be secured.
