Calculation Model for Function & Cost Score based on Normalization Method in Design VE (정규화 기법 기반의 설계VE 기능 및 비용 점수 산출 모델)

  • VE aims at reduction in a budget, improvement of function, structural safety and quality security for public construction projects. However, there is possibility for the structural safety and quality security review to be insufficient because related regulations are mostly composed of analysis on economic efficiency of design. In addition, due to the misconception about VE as a cost saving methodology, an alternative is being presented which still focuses mainly on cost saving, but with no objective evaluation of function related to cost. In order to improve this, the government adopted the reduction of life cycle cost and proposal of value improvement, and let people specify the cost and function of the original plan versus the alternative plan, and the value changes between them. However, it is written mainly into practical convenience rather than theoretical basis since a specific way is not suggested. The current method sets a different starting point by applying the attributional difference of function and cost. Furthermore, an evaluation standard for correlating is an important element in rational decision making for assessing and choosing an alternative. This paper analyzes the process and method of function & cost scoring when performing VE and suggests a mathematical normalization model in order to support rational decision making when selecting an optimum plan.

  • With the advent of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, multi-variety production in the up-to-date manufacturing environment is proceeding more rapidly whereby production planning and management have been getting more complicated. Moreover, the need to improve production efficiency through effective operation sequencing is further heightened. Fundamentally, the effective operation sequencing can reduce the set-up of the equipment, efficiently utilize the equipment, shorten the set-up time, and ultimately contribute to productivity improvement. This study deals with the problem of efficient operation sequencing in a situation where a single machine performs multiple operations. The complexity of the problem is very high when compared to the case where only one operation is performed on one machine, which is covered in most existing studies. In this paper, we propose an integer programming model to minimize the number of setups. This study aims at minimizing the number of mold replacement times in the process of processing a given production order for the wiring harness manufacturing process, which is one of the components of automobile electric field. In addition, brief case studies are presented to verify the validity of the proposed mathematical model.

Level Set based Topological Shape Optimization of Phononic Crystals (음향결정 구조의 레벨셋 기반 위상 및 형상 최적설계)

  • A topology optimization method for phononic crystals is developed for the design of sound barriers, using the level set approach. Given a frequency and an incident wave to the phononic crystals, an optimal shape of periodic inclusions is found by minimizing the norm of transmittance. In a sound field including scattering bodies, an acoustic wave can be refracted on the obstacle boundaries, which enables to control acoustic performance by taking the shape of inclusions as the design variables. In this research, we consider a layered structure which is composed of inclusions arranged periodically in horizontal direction while finite inclusions are distributed in vertical direction. Due to the periodicity of inclusions, a unit cell can be considered to analyze the wave propagation together with proper boundary conditions which are imposed on the left and right edges of the unit cell using the Bloch theorem. The boundary conditions for the lower and the upper boundaries of unit cell are described by impedance matrices, which represent the transmission of waves between the layered structure and the semi-infinite external media. A level set method is employed to describe the topology and the shape of inclusions. In the level set method, the initial domain is kept fixed and its boundary is represented by an implicit moving boundary embedded in the level set function, which facilitates to handle complicated topological shape changes. Through several numerical examples, the applicability of the proposed method is demonstrated.

Social values and decision making on bioethical issues (물건인가, 생명인가?: 사회적 가치와 생명윤리에 관한 의사결정)

  • This article aimed to test whether specific social values (i.e., achievement vs. benevolence) could cause changes in decision making on bio-ethical issues. Study 1 investigated value preferences among young Korean college students according to Schwartz's (1992) model of social values. According to the results, the preference for achievement value was correlated negatively with the preference for benevolence value. In Study 2, following a sentence completion task which was conducted to trigger specific values, the participants had to indicate their ethical decisions regarding animal experiment, euthanasia, organ transplantation, biotechnology, sex selection and human cloning, Irrespective of the value priming (achievement vs. benevolence), there were more utilitarian decisions about animal experiment, euthanasia and organ transplantation. In contrary, there were more deontological decisions about sex selection and human cloning. Study 3 introduced a word completion task to assess implicit value preferences. The results showed that the participants with implicit preferences for the benevolence value in the condition of benevolence value priming were more frequently against animal experiments and organ transplantation than those with implicit value preferences for the achievement value. Social values are discussed for understanding one's bioethical decision making.

Estimating plot-level volume using LiDAR-extracted height distributional parameters (항공 LiDAR의 높이분포변수를 이용한 임분재적추정에 관한 연구)

  • 임분 단위의 재적 및 생체량은 LiDAR 자료의 높이 분포변수들로부터 추정될 수 있다. LiDAR 자료의 높이 분포변수들은 재적을 측정하는 임분고(stand height)와 임분평균 지하고(mean crown base height), 그리고 수관형태에 따른 평균수관장(mean crown depth) 등의 변수와 직 간접적인 연관성이 있다. 그러므로, 본 연구에서는 잣나무림의 샘플지역에서 반사된 LiDAR 자료의 높이분포변수를 이용하여 임분단위의 수간재적을 추정한 다음, 앞 세부연구에서 수행한 방법을 이용하여 임분의 생체량을 추정하였다. 변수는 임분 내에서 반사되는 LiDAR 자료의 평균높이, 최대 최소높이, 높이값들의 표준편차, 변이계수, 첨도, 왜도, 식생반사비율, 10분위 높이자료와 강도데이터의 기술통계량 등을 사용하였다. 그리고, 최종적인 임분수간재적은 다중회귀분석을 통하여 수행되었다. 다중회귀분석을 통하여 각 변수들은 임분수간재적과 가장 관련있는 2~3개의 변수들로 추려졌으며, 추정된 회귀식의 결정계수는 0.66으로 분석되었다. 또한 유보표본을 이용하여 검증한 결과의 결정계수는 0.59로 분석되어 LiDAR 자료의 높이분포변수들은 임분의 재적을 비교적 잘 설명할 수 있음이 밝혀졌다.

  • In this paper. the pneumatic service robot with a hybrid type is developed. A pneumatic has the advantages of good compliance , high Payload-to-weight and payload-to-volume ratios. high speed and force capabilities. Using pneumatic actuators. which have low stiffness. the service robot can guarantee safety. By suggesting a new serial-parallel hybrid type for the service robot which separates into Positioning motion and orienting motion, we can achieve large workspace and high strength-to-moving-weight ratio at the same time. A sliding mode controller can be designed for tracking the desired output using the Lyapunov stability theory and structural properties of pneumatic servo systems. Through many experiments of circular trajectory. the Pneumatic service robot is evaluated and verified.

Defending Multiple Terrorist Targets (대테러전략의 게임이론적 분석)

  • This paper analyzes a situation where multiple targets are exposed to a potential terrorist attack. The probability of an attack is determined endogenously in a game where a terrorist chooses the target while the targets independently determine the level of deterrence. As each target tries to divert an attack to others, the symmetric equilibrium becomes suboptimal and exhibits dispersion in the level of deterrence. The analysis shows that the first best deterrence level may be achieved when the targets can write a binding risk-sharing contract. Such a contract has limited applicability however as it suffers from a potential verification problem.

  • 도심지간 대용량 전력수송을 담당하는 지중송전케이블의 설비 신뢰성 향상과 공사원가 절감을 위해 적정 포설길이의 결정과 접속함의 최적 배치가 중요하며, 이러한 시스템 설계에 있어서 허용 포설장력과 측압은 여러 중요 요소 중 하나가 된다. 특히, 허용측압 계산과정에서 적용중인 최대 측압값에 대한 실증적 검증과 건정성 확인시험을 통해 케이블 특성에 가장 적정한 값을 도출하고, 실 계통에 적용함으로서 최적 시스템 설계가 구현될 것이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 지중송전케이블을 관로에 포설시 곡률부에서 발생하는 측압을 여러 case별로 모의할 수 있도록 실증설비를 구축하였고, 실제 작용되는 측면하중을 로드셀을 이용하여 측정하였다. 본 연구결과로 안전율을 고려한 최적의 허용측압이 결정되었으며, 이러한 허용측압의 확대를 통해 장경간 케이블 포설의 이론 정립이 가능하게 되었다.

Thermal Decomposition Kinetics of ZPP as a Primary Charge of Initiators (착화기용 ZPP의 열분해 특성)

  • The thermal decomposition characteristics of the ZPP(Zirconium/Potassium perchlorate), widely used as a primary charge of initiators, were investigated by differential scanning calorimetry(DSC). The DSC results with different heating rates were elaborated with AKTS-Thermokinetics software for the determination of the kinetic parameters of the thermal decomposition of ZPP. There was good agreement between the experimental and the simulation curves, based on the determined kinetic parameters, which indicates the validity of the kinetic description of the thermal decomposition process of ZPP.

  • This study is aimed at determining an algorithm capable of estimating the erosion index of rainfall for the region of Maceió-Alagoas in the northeast of Brazil. The sample of the truncated data from 2003 to 2006 counts 26,889 droplet size distributions integrated per minute, with 680 rain events with duration longer than 10 minutes. The equation proposed to estimate erosion index used as a dependent variable and independent variable, presenting a coefficient of determination of 99%. The statistical significance validated the relation between minimum rainfall intensity and erosion.
