A Structural Analysis of News Narratives on Labor Movements in Korea

  • 본 논문은 1996년 노동법 개정을 둘러싼 노동계의 총파업에 대해 보수적 성향을 갖는 조선일보와 진보적 성향을 갖고 있던 한겨레가 어떠한 방식으로 이러한 쟁점을 재현하고 해석하는 지를 분석했다. 당시의 노동계 총파업은 내부적으로는 민주화에 따른 시민사회의 성숙과 외부적으로는 글로벌라이제이션에 따른 국가 간 경쟁의 가속화라는 두 가지 정치경제학적 요인이 교차하는 공간에서 일어났으며, 동시에 광범위한 국민적 지지를 확보한 파업으로 그 상징적 의미를 갖고 있다. 이와 같이 주요 사회적 쟁점에 대한 두 신문간의 차이를 분석하기 위해 질적 분석 방법인 서사분석(Narrative Analysis)과 양적 분석 방법인 조응분석(Correspondence Analysis)을 사용했다. 서사분석은 사건의 발생과 진행 그리고 결말 과정에서 대립되는 행위자의 상징적 담론을 분석함으로써 사회적 쟁점에 대한 신문사간의 뉴스보도의 차이점 또는 유사성을 구분할 수 있으며, 조응분석은 주요 쟁점에 대해 행위자들이 어떠한 방식으로 서로 연계되는 지를 파악함으로써 역동적으로 총파업에 대한 행위자들의 관계의 변화를 공간적으로 탐색할 수 있는 장점을 갖고 있다. 서사분석 결과, 두 신문은 각각 서로 다른 서사구조를 기반으로 주요 행위자의 담론적 기호를 정반대로 구성하고 있었다. 사건 발생 단계에서는, 두 신문이 각각 국가 경쟁력 강화와 노동전 보호를 중심적인 서사구조로 설정해 차이를 보였으며, 대통령 및 여당과 민주노총이 대립적인 행위자로 설정되었다. 사건의 발전 단계에서는, 총파업의 불법성과 적법성 문제에 대한 갈등을 기본 서사구조로 제시한 채, 노동계를 포함한 시민사회와 정부기관이 대립적인 행위자로 등장했다. 사건의 갈등 해소 단계에서는 문제 해결을 위한 방법으로 두 신문이 대통령과 야당 지도자간의 정치적 해결과 노동법 통과에 대한 위헌론 제기를 중심으로 한 노동단체들의 지속적인 연대를 중심 서사구조로 각각 제시했다. 이 시기에서 주요 행위자들의 대립관계는 종료되었다. 조응분석 결과, 사건 발생과 위기 고조 단계, 그리고 갈등 해소 단계등 모든 시기에서 두 신문의 주요 행위자 구성에 있어서 차이가 나타났다. 다시 말해, 조선일보는 기본적으로 총파업을 둘러싼 문제의 구성과 발전, 해소 과정에서 정당이나 대통령, 야당 지도자 등과 같은 정치관련 행위자를 강조하고 있었다. 반면에, 한겨레는 대체로 로든 사건진행 단계에서 노동 관련 단체들과 시민단체의 역동적인 연대와 활동에 초점을 맞추고 있는 것으로 나타났다.

Humanistic Imagination through the Case of Cultural Convergence Contents of Hwang Soon-won 「Sonagi」 (황순원 「소나기」의 문화융합 콘텐츠 사례를 통해 본 인문학적 상상력)

  • In this paper, Hwang Soon-won's "Sonagi" is considered from the aspect of literary imagination reconstructed into a fusion content of various cultures such as HD TV Literature, Animation, Movie, Musical, CF and the part which changed from the original text. In the TV literature Museum "Sonagi" he created a newly person called a 'Seok-yi' who is a young brother of a boy, a girl's mother who did not exist in the original, and developed the composition more precisely. And In the animation, the main character's dialogue is presented as a speech and it is characteristic that the theme of the work is revealed more effectively. On the other hand, the heroine in the movie says, "I do not like the ending part of the showers." Also In the musical "Sonagi", about 2 tons of water was used to give more vividness and presence to the audience. In this way, the contents of the original works are transformed according to the characteristics of the medium in the various cultural fusion contents based on novels, and thus convey the unique imagination of the director to the audience.

The Intermedial Relationship between the Animations, and (애니메이션 <인사이드 아웃>과 <센과 치히로의 행방불명>에서 나타난 상호매체성 관계)

  • Inside Out(2015) and The Spiriting Away of Sen And Chihiro(2001) have similar narrative structures and scenes. This paper aimed to compare and analyze the intermedial relationship between the two animations. The result of the study showed intermedial relationship between Inside Out and The Spiriting Away of Sen And Chihiro, which was produced and released about 14 years before. However, it was hard to say the former referred to the system of the latter and adopted it. When seen from the narrative structure of exposition, development, crisis, climax, resolution, in Inside Out, various motifs of The Spiriting Away of Sen And Chihiro were restructured, creating a new feeling. This study considered intermediality as something that a single medium overcomes limitations and is transformed through materials, or media, and an important way to provide consumers with contents of better quality, and using Rajewsky's frame of analyzing intermediality, compared and analyzed the relationship of the two animations.

Types of Parental Gatekeeping in Drama 「SKY Castle」 (드라마 「SKY 캐슬」에 나타난 아버지와 어머니의 문지기 유형)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze parental gatekeeping dimensions(control, encouragement, discouragement) and types of gatekeeping in the two families featured in the drama 「SKY Castle」. Of the 8 types of gatekeeping, the traditional gate blocker(high control, low encouragement, and high discouragement) most often described in the drama, creates a difficult situation for a father trying to participate in child rearing. But traditional gate blockers do not always unnecessarily limit father involvement. In father's coerecive and dictatorial environment, traditional maternal gatekeeping strategies protect her children and create secure environment. The facilitative gate openers(high control, high encouragement, and low discouragement) is the functional gatekeeping type. Because the mother's highly controlling and highly encouraging ways serve as a positive coparenting strategy, the facilitative gate maintain a high level of authority over the amount and type of father involvement.

The Animal symbol in Lee Hyo-seok's short story (이효석 단편소설 「돈(豚)」에 나타나는 동물상징)

  • This study analyzes the animal symbolism shown in the novella by Hyoseok Lee and seeks to shed light on the consciousness of the author expressed through such symbolism. Lee used animal symbolism since 1933 which was a literary turning point for him. Animal symbolism in his novels are more than an analogical theme but is used as a core meaning and image. This has a clear intention of the author underneath. Novella which is seen as the starting point of pure literature for Lee, uses the animal pig as a key symbol. The pig serves as a symbol of the capital for poor farmers, while also serving as an amplifier for the desires of the protagonist. The death of the pig that appears at the closing of the novella stands for the tragic reality of the farmers of the time who could not seek growth in their capital or realization of their desires. As such, has characteristics of pure literature but also represents the consciousness of the author who brings attention to the tragic reality of farmers. That is, is a work that realized the unique writing style of Lee and his animal symbolism to bring to life a middle way appraoch to realism and romanticism.

The Influence of the Forest Program on Depression Level (산림(山林) 프로그램 참여(參與) 경험(經驗)이 우울증(憂鬱症) 수준(水準)에 미치는 영향(影響))

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of participation in a forest program on the level of depression changes in the participants. Total of 501 university students residing in the middle province of Korea were administered Beck Depression Inventory(BDI). Among them, 32 students were selected as participants of the program based on the scores of the BDI. A 5-day forest program included climbing, sharing experience with others and so on. Pre and post tests control group research design was employed for this study, with BDI measures taken from each of 32 participants on three time frames : 2 weeks before the program, immediately before participation, and immediately after participation. BDI scores were expected to decrease as a result of forest program participation. The study results supported this hypothesis.

Study on Narrators in the Realism Plays -Our Town and A View from the Bridge (사실주의 연극의 Narrator 연구 - Our Town과 A View from the Bridge의 경우)

  • Narrators used to take an important role in the theatre of ancient Greece. They gave the audience an important information, explained the situations and conflicts between characters by talking to the audience directly. But in the realism play in the 20th century, which is represented as the 'fourth wall,' anything that can interrupt commitments of the audience such as a narrator, was excluded. However the two representative playwright in the 20th century, Thorton Wilder and Arthur Miller took narrators in their plays, Our Town and A View form the Bridge. This study shows why they adopted narrators in their play, which was unusual at that time and how this form of narrator affects to the meaning of the plays.

  • Yang, Youngsun's 1001 has been a monumental "Web-toon" work optimized in Web Environment. This paper has intended to explain semantics of 1001 (reconstructed works of the Arabian Nights) by mimesis theory of desires and scapegoat mechanism of Ren$\acute{e}$ Girard; Shahriah, the protagonist, had been hurt by Queen's affair, but in the depth of his mind, he had suffered the problem of injured self-esteem by his model, father. However, Shahriah's mind had been recovered slowly by story therapy of Sheherezade. Sheherezade's story therapy had made up by contrasting states, violence and sacrificial love. In the very end, Shariah had solved all the problems of the structural Negativities by accepting his fate.

Understanding aspects of folktale combinations based on the concept of the narrative scheme (서사도식을 통한 설화 결합 양상 이해)

  • There are different variations in folktales. Sometimes folkltales are combined with another folktales. This is probably done to make it an object-oriented narrative in which an epic attempt is made to strengthen an issue that was not resolved earlier, or a context that was not completed. The wood cutter and the heavenly maiden and Snail bride, are commonly noted for their gender relationship. These tales represent issue of continuing relationships between men and women. Particulary, how in the process of doing so, they succumb to their desires. This striving for lasting relationships does not end happily because "the man" in each case was immature and not able to think clearly. Other folktales were combined with these tales to resolve this problem. The man was transformed into a mature person and the wrongdoer's excessive greed was punished. The narrative of the folktales was changed to bring out the epic of growth, or the epic of punishment. This can be understood through the concept of narrative scheme. Folktale combinations in narrative schemes can be used effectively in narrative education.

The study on Zhong-lie-xiao-wu-yi(『忠烈小五義』)'s transmission and the story (『충렬소오의(忠烈小五義)』의 국내유입과 스토리 연구)

  • Zhong-lie-xiao-wu-yi(忠烈小五義), whose author was Shiyukun(石玉昆), is a Xia-Yi-Gong-An(俠義公案) novel in the late Qing Dynasty. This work published in 1890 when Emperor Guangxu(光緖) governed China. This work's author is Shiyukun, distribution books has an amender. The amender will be a shuoshuyiren (說書藝人). Zhong-lie-xiao-wu-yi is Zhong-lie-xia-yi-zhuan(忠烈俠義傳)'s a sequel, the story leads from Zhong-lie-xia-yi-zhuan. It is just the beginning of Zhong-lie-xiao-wu-yi is redundant. Zhong-lie-xiao-wu-yi was introduced to the late Chosun(朝鮮) Dynasty. This work was translated in Hangeul, Chosun's readers read Zhong-lie-xiao-wu-yi. This work's circulation is not clear, But this work's exciting story is interested in the readers. This work is characterized as follows: First of all, Zhong-lie-xia-yi-zhuan's charaters appear equally, the readers feels familiar. The readers like the familiar characters, because the readers read the book. The familiar characters can have a sense of speed in reading. Second, the story is continuous. Zhong-lie-xiao-wu-yi is narrated by connecting Zhong-lie-xia-yi-zhuan's story. Third, Zhong-lie-xiao-wu-yi was seeking an open ending. Classical novels prefer happy ending, this work is open ending, the expectations for the sequel became more doubled. The fourth, this work took advantage of the colloquial expressions. Zhong-lie-xiao-wu-yi is Huabenti(話本體) novel, took advantage of the spoken language. Suyu(俗語) and xiehouyu(歇後語) was represented in this work. Fifth, this work is formed a universal consensus. Ordinary people must empathize about xia-yi(俠義) and retribution, this work was well represented. Because the readers would have liked to this story.
