  • Prussian blue analogues(PBAs) are comprised of cyano-bridged transition metal ions. The wide and unique open-framework structures of the PBAs enable reversible intercalation and deintercalation of various ions such as $Na^+$, $K^+$, $Mg^{2+}$, $Zn^{2+}$, etc. In addition, since PBAs are synthesized through coprecipitation reaction in aqueous solution at room temperature, they are produced economically and environmentally friendly. However, the formation of crystals proceeds rapidly, and defects such as vacancy and crystal water tend to be present in the crystals, thereby affecting key battery performance. Therefore, significant efforts to inhibit defects in PBAs have been made. In the case of vacancy, the reaction rate was controlled at the synthesis stage to reduce the formation of vacancy, and the crystal water was removed by heat treatment under vacuum. In addition, by adding transition metals that do not react within the structure of PBA, the structural instability during the electrochemical reaction was largely alleviated.

  • clathrate compound란 호스트 분자가 수소 결합에 의하여 3차원 골격구조를 만들고, 이 격자 내부의 동공으로 저분자량의 기체 게스트 분자가 포집되며 형성되는 고체 결정 화합물이다. 현재까지 다양한 호스트 분자가 clathrate 화합물을 형성하는 것으로 보고되어 있으며, 이 중 유기물인 hydroquinone 역시 clathrate compound를 형성할 수 있는 것으로 알려져 있다. clathrate compound는 작은 고체 부피 내부에 막대한 양의 기체 분자를 저장할 수 있는 특성을 지니고 있기 때문에, 에너지 가스의 저장/수송이나 혼합 가스의 선택적 분리와 같은 다양한 응용을 위한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 clathrate compound를 형성하는 유기 호스트 분자인 hydroquinone을 이용하여 다양한 기체분자들에 대한 포집 거동을 파악하였다. 순수 기체로는 $N_2$, $H_2$, $CO_2$, $CH_4$의 4종류를 가지고 고압 반응기에서 50bar의 압력, 상온에서의 반응 조건으로 반응을 시켰다. 이렇게 형성된 반응 샘플들은 clathrate 형성 여부(기체의 포집 여부)를 확인하기 위하여 x-ray 회절을 통한 고체 결정 구조 분석을 수행하였다. 또한 순수 기체 이외에 다양한 비율(20%, 40%, 60%, 80%)의 조성을 갖는 $CO_2+N_2$ 혼합가스를 이용하여 clathrate compound의 형성과 조성 분석을 수행하였는데, x-ray 회절 분석과 13C 고체 NMR 분석을 통해 미세 구조 분석 연구를 수행하였고, Raman분석을 통하여 그 조성을 확인하였다. 본 연구에서 얻어진 결과는 기체의 저장/수송이나 혼합 가스의 선택적 분리와 같은 응용 분야에서 중요한 정보를 제공할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

Updating Algorithms using a Galois-Lattice Structure for Building and Maintaining Object-Oriented Analysis Models (Galois-격자 구조를 이용한 객체지향 분석 모델 구축과 유지에 관한 갱신 알고 리즘)

  • This paper describes and constructs object-oriented analysis models using Galois-lattices that we are always studying in discrete mathematics, shows fundamental approaches to maintain the models, analyzes the construction of object-oriented analysis models through good examples. Also, we define several properties of Galois-lattices that have binary relations between class objects, propose the incremental updating algorithms that can update the Galois-lattice whenever new classes are added. This proposal shows that in case of adding new class nodes the results from simulations can implement in constant time and have linearly the incremental structures in worst cases, and in that the growth rate of lattices is proportioned to class nodes in time complexity. This results can achieve the high understandability of object-oriented analysis models and the high traceability of maintenance models. Furthermore it is possible to make more efficient performances of class reusability in advantages of object-oriented systems and support truly the class hierarchical maintenances.

Simultaneous Measurement of External Refractive Index and Temperature by Using a Side-polished Fiber Bragg Grating with a Polymer Overlay (폴리머 코팅된 측면 연마 단주기 격자 기반 외부 굴절률 및 온도 동시 측정 센서 연구)

  • A hybrid grating sensing device based on a side-polished fiber Bragg grating (FBG) with a polymer overlay is proposed for simultaneous measurement of external refractive index and temperature. The side-polished FBG, which is insensitive to ambient index change, is utilized for detecting temperature variation, and the polymer overlay is coated on the side-polished FBG for measurement of ambient index change. The temperature sensitivities of the side-polished FBG and the polymer overlay were measured to be 0.01 nm/$^{\circ}C$ and -0.58 nm/$^{\circ}C$, respectively, in a temperature range from $30^{\circ}C$ to $100^{\circ}C$. The ambient index sensitivities of the polymer overlay were measured to be 498.8 nm/RIU in an ambient index range from 1.33 to 1.39, 694.9 nm/RIU from 1.39 to 1.42, and 1312 nm/RIU from 1.42 to 1.44.

  • A method for elasto-plastic analysis of grillages is proposed in this investigation. An effort to construct the stiffness matrix of the member with bending and torsional springs attached at both ends is made in this work to make each member of grillage behave elasto-plastically. A related computer program EPAG for elasto-plastic analysis of grillages is also developed. The characters of this program in comparison with existing methods are as fellows; grillage with arbitrary geometry can be analysed, collapse load is applied in one step instead of incremental procedure, unloading can be considered, and analysis results such as applied loads, member end forces and joint displacements are also obtained when individual plastic hinge is formed. For verification of performanse of the EPAG, illustrating examples are solved and compared with the results of specified literlatures.

Polymeric Waveguide Bio Sensors with Bragg Gratings (브래그 격자 광도파로형 바이오 센서)

  • Biophotonic sensors based on polymer waveguide with Bragg reflection grating are demonstrated in this work. Waveguide Bragg reflectors were designed by using the effective index method and the transmission matrix method. The grating pattern was formed by exposing the laser interference pattern on a photoresist. On top of the inverted rib waveguide, the Bragg reflection grating was inscribed by the O2 plasma etching. In order to perform the bio-molecule detection experiment, a calixarene molecule was self-assembled on top of thin Au film deposited on the waveguide Bragg reflector. To measure the response of the sensor, several PBS solutions with different concentrations of potassium ion from 1 pM to $100\;{\mu}M$ were dropped on the sensor surface. The shift of Bragg reflection wavelength was observed from the fabricated sensor device, which was proportional to the concentration of potassium ion ranging from 1 pM to 108 pM.

Effects of Sputtering Ar Pressure on Magnetic and Magneto-optical Propwrties in Compositionally Modulated Co/Pd Supwrlattice Thin Films (조성변조 Co/Pd 초격자 박막의 Ar가스 압력변화에 따른 자기 및 자기광학적 특성)

  • We have investigated the effects of sputtering Ar gas pressure on magnetic and magneto-optical properties in compositionally modulated Co/Pd superlattice thin films. The samples were prepared by dc magnetron sputtering from 2-in.-diam Co and Pd targets by alternately exposing the substrates to targets. Sputtering Ar gas pressure was varied from 2 to 30 mTorr. All samples had same bilayer thicknesses composed of 2-$\AA$-thick Co and 9-$\AA$-thick Pd sublayers. It was observed that the colum-nar structure was more distinctively developed with increasing Ar gas pressure. We observed that the intrinsic uniaxial anisotropy energy, magnetization and polar Kerr rotation were decreased with increasing Ar gas pressures. Large coercivity and perfect squareness were attained by the deposition at the high Ar gas pressure. We believe that the results are mainly ascribed the variation of micro-structure with sputtering Ar gas pressure.

Prediction of Failure Strength of Reinforced Concrete Deep Beams using Two-dimensional Grid Strut-Tie Model Method (2차원 격자 스트럿-타이 모델 방법에 의한 철근콘크리트 깊은 보의 파괴강도 예측)

  • It is difficult to form a rational strut-tie model that represents a true load transfer mechanism of structural concrete with disturbed stressed region(s). To overcome the difficulty and handle numerous load cases with just one strut-tie model, a two-dimensional grid strut-tie model method was proposed previously. However, the validity of the method was not fully examined, although the incorporated basic concepts and new methods regarding the effective strength of concrete strut, load carrying capacity of struts and ties, and geometrical compatibility of grid strut-tie model were explained in detail. In this study, for accurate strength analysis and reliable design of reinforced concrete deep beams, the appropriateness of the two-dimensional grid strut-tie model method is verified. For this, the failure strength of 237 reinforced concrete deep beams, tested to shear failure, is predicted by the two-dimensional grid strut-tie model method, and the results are compared with those obtained by the sectional shear design methods and conventional strut-tie model methods of current design codes.

  • A new wavelength demultiplexing scheme using holographic volume phase grating formed in photopolymer is proposed and demonstrated. Through the analysis and experiments of the design parameters such as wavelength selectivity, operating spectral range, spatial channel distance and spatial intensity distribution of each channel, we proved that the proposed demultiplexing scheme is promising for wavelength division multiplexing (WDM). From the experimental results, the 3 dB bandwidth of 0.21nm and the crosstalk level of 26 dB for a 0.8 nm channel spacing are observed.

  • Aerodynamic analysis for the airfoil, KARI-11-180 having 18% thickness ratio, was performed with CFD techniques. The boundary layer grid was generated by projecting the wall grid normally and fine grid was placed behind the trailing edge to capture the wake accurately. The distance to the far boundary is 100 chords and the flow condition is same as the wind tunnel test condition. Transition SST and DES turbulence models were utilized for accurate prediction of the transiton point. The predicted lift is higher but the drag is predicted lower than the wind tunnel test. 3-dimensional results with airfoil models of which aspect ratio were 2 and 5 were compared with 2-dimensional results.
