  • Despite the widespread use of digital games as a means of promoting physical activity, little is known about the factors that affect active video gaming. Based on the ecological model of health behavior, this study examined how personal, environmental, and social factors would influence active video gaming and general physical activity. The results showed that while all three factors significantly influence general physical activity, social factor is the only factor that affects active video gaming. The finding highlights the importance of social factors in predicting the use of active video games.

A total of 30 5-year-old children were equally divided into two groups: the experimental group and the control group. The experimental group conducted a total of 16 game activities using an educational robot twice a week for three weeks, the control group conducted the same 16 game activities without the robot during the same period. The results are as follows. Firstly, the experimental group was better in reading ability than that of the control group, especially total scores, word meaning, omission, and replacement. Secondly, the experimental group showed more interest in reading than the control group. From these findings, it can be suggested that phonological awareness games using the educational robot lay foundation to developing and enhancing on 5-year-old children's reading abilities and interest in reading.

Firstly, the effect of users' evaluation on a game company's CSR activities and its qualities of game programs on the brand assets. Secondly, the effect of users' evaluation on a game company's CSR activities and its qualities of game programs on the intention to game use. Thirdly, the effect of users' evaluation on a game company's CSR activities, the qualities of game programs, and the brand assets on the intention to game use. 367 college students were administrated to the survey. The results indicate that game users' evaluation on economic, ethical, and philanthropic responsibilities, except legal one have an effect on brand assets and intention to game use. Specially, on effects of the three independent variables(CSR activities, perceived quality, and brand assets) toward intention to game use, ethical responsibility and brand loyalty have statistically significant. This result confirms that game company's board of directors should consider ethical company management as well as CSR activities not as cost but as investment for increasing company's business profit.

  • Many users enjoy a location-based augmented reality game such as Pokémon GO. From the perspective of attachment, this paper investigated the antecedents of Pokémon GO use. A total of 182 responses from Pokemon Go users was collected through an online survey. The result of regression analysis showed that attitude toward game characters, social interaction, competition, and physical activity increased attachment to game. Attention switching, however, decreased attachment to the game. This study suggested that attachment to mobile augmented games could be achieved through social interaction, competition, and physical activity. Implications for researchers and practitioners were discussed.
