Detecting and Tracking Vehicles at Local Region by using Segmented Regions Information (분할 영역 정보를 이용한 국부 영역에서 차량 검지 및 추적)

  • The novel vision-based scheme for real-time extracting traffic parameters is proposed in this paper. Detecting and tracking of vehicle is processed at local region installed by operator. Local region is divided to segmented regions by edge and frame difference, and the segmented regions are classified into vehicle, road, shadow and headlight by statistical and geometrical features. Vehicle is detected by the result of the classification. Traffic parameters such as velocity, length, occupancy and distance are estimated by tracking using template matching at local region. Because background image are not used, it is possible to utilize under various conditions such as weather, time slots and locations. It is performed well with 90.16% detection rate in various databases. If direction, angle and iris are fitted to operating conditions, we are looking forward to using as the core of traffic monitoring systems.

Design of Beam-forming Reader Antenna for Train Position Detection using RFID (RFID 시스템 이용한 열차 위치검지용 빔폭 가변형 RFID 리더안테나)

  • This paper presents a $4{\times}1$ beam-forming reader antenna system for a new type of RFID based train position detection technology. The required beamwidth of the reader antenna is analytically expressed for different train speeds. The proposed antenna system consists of four rectangular patch elements and two switching couplers which are designed, without any impedance matching networks, for two different antenna modes. The switching coupler is a rectangular quadrature coupler with Pin diodes connecting its center line and the ground plane. The beamwidth of the antenna when the diodes are off and on is $18^{\circ}$ and $39^{\circ}$, respectively. The proposed antenna system will be used for a real train test in the near future.

  • This paper presents a robust vehicle detection and tracking algorithm for supervision of illegal parking. The proposed algorithm is composed of four parts. First, a vehicle detection algorithm is proposed using the improved codebook object detection algorithm to segment moving vehicles from the input sequence. Second, a preprocessing technique using the geometric characteristics of vehicles is employed to exclude non-vehicle objects. Then, the detected vehicles are tracked by an object tracker which incorporates histogram tracking method with Kalman filter. To make the tracking results more accurate, histogram tracking results are used as measurement data for Kalman filter. Finally, Real Stop Counter (RSC) is introduced for trustworthy and accurate performance of the stopped vehicle detection. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can track multiple vehicles simultaneously and detect stopped vehicles successfully in the complicated street environment.

  • For a thorough train control, the precise train position detection is necessarily required. The widely used current way for train position detection is the one of using track circuits. The track circuit has a simple structure, and has a high level of reliability. However trains can be detected only on track circuits, which have to be installed on all ground sections, and much amount of cost for its installation and maintenance is needed. In addition, for the track circuit, only discontinuous position detection is possible because of the features of the closed circuit loop configuration. As the recent advances in telecommunication technologies and high-tech vehicle-based control equipments, for the train position detection, the method to detect positions directly from on trains is being studied. Vehicle-based position detection method is to estimate train positions, speed, timing data continuously, and to use them as the control information. In this paper, the features of GPS navigation and DR navigation are analyzed, and the navigation filters are designed by constructing vehicle-based train position detection method by combining GPS navigation and DR navigation for their complementary cooperation, and by using kalman filter. The position estimation performance of the proposed method is also confirmed by simulations.

  • Currently, dozens of CCTVs are widely used in railway station for monitoring passengers in danger and security areas. The most frequent accidents occur at the platform area where passengers boarding the train. However, It is almost impossible that station operator monitors dozens of CCTV screens and recognizes immediately accidents and handle them. Therefore, railway platform monitoring system using image processing technology which automatically detects platform accidents is needed, and in order to that, preferentially, accurate determination of train state in the platform is required. In the paper, we propose train state detection algorithm for vision based railway platform monitoring system. the proposed algorithm determines four different states i.e. trains approach(IN), departure(OUT), stop(ON), and empty(OFF) of the train, in the platform. To evaluate the proposed algorithm, we present the train detection results for the Seoul Metro Line 4 Dongjak and Namtaeryeong Station.

  • Image frame analysis is a conventional way of evaluating loop detector's performance. In image frame analysis, the time to evaluate performance is linearly proportional to the number of evaluated subjects, and the results can be subjective, depending on operator's personal evaluation standards and physical condition. Also, this method is often inferior in accuracy to that provided by the evaluated devices. Therefore, it is critical to develop a portable standard system which has better accuracy and more objectivity in evaluating vehicle detectors. This paper discusses function and reliability of tape-switch detector, which can be a replacement for image frame analysis, for effectively measuring traffic volume, speed, and occupancy.

  • 차량이 증가함에 따라서 첨단 교통 시스템(intelligent Transportation System: ITS)은 교통의 효율성, 신뢰성, 안정성 향상에 중점을 두게되었다. 첨단 교통 시스템의 일부분인 운전자 도움 시스템(Advanced Drivers Assistance System)은 운전을 하고 있는 상황에서 도움을 주기 위한 체계이고, 전방의 장애물 검지는 운전자 도움 시스템에서 전방의 상황을 운전자에게 알려주기 위한 중요한 요소이다. 본 논문에서는 HSV 컬러모델을 이용하여 연속된 컬러 영상으로부터 도로상의 차선과 방향 표시자에 구애받지 않고 전방의 차량을 검출하는 방법을 제안한다. HSV 컬러 모텔에서 차량을 검출하기 위해서는 태도(Saturation)와 명도(Value)성분의 관계를 이용하여 차량 영역을 구하고, HSV성분과 위치 특징을 이용하여 이전 프레임의 차량인지 검증한다. 도로 영상에서 차량이 있는 경우 차량의 아래 부분에 그림자 영역이 존재한다는 점을 이용한다. 제안된 방식의 효과를 검증하기 위해 노트북 PC와 PC용 CCD 카메라로 도로에서의 영상을 촬영하고 차량검출알고리즘을 적용한 처리 시간, 정확도, 차량검지 등의 결과를 보인다.

  • 한국형 틸팅열차의 시험평가를 실시하기 위한 상시계측시스템은 크게 두 부분으로 이루어져있다. 하드웨어는 센서 계측용 랙, 계측용 콘솔 Desk, 전원공급 랙, 센서부 및 케이블부로 이루어지며, 소프트웨어는 계측프로그램, 후처리 프로그램, 분석 프로그램 등으로 구성되어있다. 이 중에서 차량 네트워크 신호를 입력받기 위한 TMS 신호 검지시스템은 기존에 개발되어 운용중인 타 시스템과 구별되는 틸팅열차 종합계측시스템만의 장점이라고 할 수 있다.

  • Recently, DSRC technology is used in the various fields such as parking system, BIS, ETC, etc. This paper suggests a traffic information system using this DSRC technology. The traffic information processing based on point detection using existing vehicle detection equipment is the system in which a collection and a service are operated separately while the traffic information system based on the link detection using DSRC is able to collect and provide the traffic information through the communication between RSE and OBU. The speed of a traffic congestion is high on the process converted from a point passing speed to a link average speed because the vehicle detection equipment makes the link traffic information into the point information. When the condition of traffic is deteriorated, traffic speed of the vehicle detection equipment becomes higher than DSRC. Especially, in this system, deflection by data of the traffic speed of the traffic information system is much decreased, and the unexpected condition detection and traffic condition are provided promptly.
