In the recycling industry, the recuperation of zinc from Electric Arc Furnace dust by the Waelz process generates important quantities of slag. This slag presents good mechanical properties, and for the most siliceous slag. a high stability which would enable its use by total or partial substitution of certain granulates in civil engineering Our study (within the framwork of a European programme cofunded by the European Commission-DGXII) concerns the physico-chemical and mineralogical characterization and leaching behaviour of several types of Waelz slag. The leaching tests are regulatory tests and specific characterization tests of leaching behaviour. They take into account the influence of several main parameters of the valorization scenarios envisaged for the slag(e.g. pH, Redox potential, chemical nature of the leachant, type of contact-liquid/ solid etc.).
Article 36 of the Building Code Enforcement Ordinance requires that an exterior evacuation stairs be installed for the buildings of three stories and over with cultural facilities or gathering places which have over $1,000\;m^2$ floor area of public performance halls or recreational facilities. The concentration of population together with the increase of high-rise buildings in cities call for various precautionary measures to be taken against human disasters. For the past ten years high-rise buildings showed 85% of increase, marking a steep rise. This increase of high-rise buildings may lead to human disasters in urban areas and, in case of fire breakout, may cause great loss of human lives and property damages. The most difficult fire-fighting activities in high-rise building fires are those of evacuation. Because smoke spreads through the upper floors, the securement of evacuation route in high-rise buildings may be the only way to minimize loss of lives. In high-rise buildings exterior escape stairs are necessary because it is difficult to secure evacuation route with only direct stairs or interior stairs. The Building Code now in force provides insignificant coverage on the exterior evacuation route installment and therefore becomes an inadequate means for evacuation route securement in high-rise building fires. To compensate for this inadequacy the Building Code should be revised to include a mandatory clause that an exterior evacuation stairs be established for the buildings of ten stories and over which can be categorized into high-rise building group.

The purpose of this research was to analyze the relationship between human risk factors and evacuation behavior stages for tunnel safety. Therefore, we conducted a survey using a structured questionnaire on the relationship between safety facilities and safety behavior in order to derive an optimized interaction between the two. The research subjects were 141 tunnel users who understand the tunnel environment. The survey period was from June 24, 2018, to September 28, 2018. As data analysis methods, we employed a frequency analysis, a multiple regression analysis, and an independent-sample t-test. In the analysis of the correlation between the human risk factors and the major variables of evacuation behavior, the evacuation phases 1, 2, and 3 were all correlated with acceleration and delay, and the human risk factors were partially correlated. In the multiple regression analysis, the will to comply with laws (${\beta}=0.188$, p=0.034) and information recognition within the tunnel (${\beta}=0.220$, p=0.009) were factors that influence the relationship between human risk factors and evacuation behavior, indicating 12% explanatory power of the impact of human risk factors for the acceleration of evacuation behavior 3. The important variables between human risk factors and evacuation behavior were compliance with laws and information recognition in tunnels. Hence, it is necessary to study the elements that interact with the environment in the tunnel.

This study derived the design aspects by carrying out the case study of Neunggok prehistoric remains park, Ansansingil historic park and Yongjuk historic park to which are taken measures to preserve undesignated cultural heritages after studying the related laws & regulations and the systems as the design conditions of historic park preserving buried cultural heritages. The results of the study are as follows. First, according to the laws & regulations related to the historical parks, the historic sites should be preserved and utilized at the same time and can have history-related facility spaces, squares, rest spaces, exercise spaces, education & culture space, and convenience spaces. Second, by the space organization and the circulation system emphasizing only the preservation of buried cultural heritages, the feature-preservation space and the functional space are separated and due to not accepting the usage behavior considering peripheral land use, the effectiveness of the historical park was low. Third, the passive feature-preservation methods such as the preservation of the exposed site in architectural methods, the reproduction of the dugout hut, and the planting Royal azaleas or displaying stone after covering up the location of the pit dwellings with soil and the usage mainly for viewing have weakened the identity of the historical park. Fourth, the fence preventing users' access interferes experiencing the features, and the vertical structure protecting the upper part of the exposed features has overwhelmed the landscape of the historical parks. Fifth, it was difficult to figure out the feature space only by the texts mainly on terminologies and the excavation photographs presented on the information signs which introduce the buried cultural heritages.

Cellulose insulation is primarily manufactured from recycled newsprint and treated with fire retardants for the fire resistance. Thanks to the fire retardants, it is not combustible and flammable. In addition to that, Its thermal resistance is much better than that of fiberglass or rock wool. It is made from waste paper and easily decayed when it is demolished, and it has small embodied energy. So it is very environment-friendly building material. For broader use of cellulose insulation in buildings in Korea, it is necessary to test its physical performance to compare the results with the requirements on the Korean Building Code. To this end, apparent thermal conductivity (ka) measurements of Korean-made loose-fill cellulose insulations were recently completed using equipment that was built and operated in accordance with ASTM C 518 and the fire resistance was tested in accordance with ASTM C 1485. Korean loose-fill cellulose has thermal conductivity about 5% greater than the corresponding U.S. product at the same density. This is likely due to differences in the recycled material being used. Both spray-applied and loose-fill cellulose insulation lose about 1.5% of their thermal resistivity for $5.5^{\circ}C$ increase in temperature. The fire resistance of cellulose insulation is increased in linear proportion to the increase of the rate of fire retardant. Thanks to the high fire resistance, cellulose insulation can be used as a substitution of Styrofoam or Urethane foam which is combustible. The thermal conductivity of cellulose insulation was $0.037-0.043W/m{\cdot}K$ at the mean specimen temperature from $4-43^{\circ}C$. It corresponds to the thermal resistance of "Na Grade" according to the Korean Building Code. The effect of chemical content on thermal conductivity was negligible for all but the chemical-free specimen which had the highest value for the thermal conductivity over the temperature range tested. The thermal resistance of cellulose insulation is better than that of fiberglass or rock wool, and its fire resistance is higher than that of Styrofoam or Urethane foam. Therefore it can be substituted for those above considering its physical performance. Cellulose insulation is no more expensive than Styrofoam or rock wool, so it is recommended to use it more widely in Korea.
'Heaundae Woosin Building' fire was the case that a fire breaking out on the $4^{th}$ floor spread out the $38^{th}$ floor which is a top story and the penthouse was destroyed by fire. After this fire, the fire safety for high rise buildings has been on the rise and several new laws and regulations related in the buildings were created. The study is to analyze Heaundae officetel building case using FDS which is one of the CFD programs for fire. The methodology of this study is to analyze the case comparing with fire spread and route from a virtual fire simulation and related articles and a video clip of actual scene fire. This study shows that a fire spreading on top of levels spent approximately 30 minutes and, which is similar to the actual fire case. Also the pattern of spread has similarity with the case. However, even if the actual fire case shows the fire pattern was "V shape", the smoke-view presents the fire dose not spread horizontally as much as the real fire case. The result shows uncertainty of the modeling based on many grids and a limitation of putting interior finish input sources and the direction of the wind might cause the difference. Also, to analyze factors influencing on a vertical fire, another fire modeling is performed by in condition of modeling environment considering concrete interior finish between buildings and no wind. The result presents the fire spread in smoke-view does not spread vertically as much as the actual case.

It has been often noted as a problem that as there are no objective and clear criteria for the repair cost estimate of persistent defects, when a claim arises in relation to an apartment construction, significantly different amounts of compensation may be given for similar defects based on the experience and tendencies of the construction experts asked to make a judgment. For this reason, this research aims to present defect managers with a more reasonable and objective estimation criteria and a system to determine the repair cost of defects based on an analysis of relevant factors. The research findings show that the historical cost system is applied first, and then a standard of estimation is used to estimate the cost for the items that are not included in the historical cost system. The criteria for the repair cost for each defect is as follows: the repair cost for defects arising from a regulation violation is determined by calculating the reconstruction cost of the parts in question after demolishing them; the repair cost for progressive defects is determined based on a contribution ratio proportional to the age of the building; the repair cost for repetitive defects is calculated by considering an alternative to maximize the intended function of the defective parts; and the repair cost for value depreciation defects is determined based on the ratio of the warranty period to the lapsed years. However, repair cost estimation for dual value depreciation defects should be studied in future research.

There are many apartment buildings with the government's policy of increasing the supply of residential houses in Korea. Roughly 60% of the Korea population are living in apartment buildings. Since the 1970s, the Korean economy has grown enormously, the economic and social structure was radically transformed to industrialization and urbanization step. A village has grown into a large town in Korea and apartment buildings was constructed to solve national housing shortage by the Korean government and the construction company. Since the 2000s, this apartment buildings which was built in the 1970s and 1980s had become gradually deteriorated. So, reconstruction and remodeling project of apartment buildings have been come into request in Korea. There are two way to improve the residential environment. The one is remodeling of apartment buildings and the other is reconstruction of that. Therefore, we carried out questionnaire and survey study of the preference on the reconstruction and remodeling of old aged apartment which were located in daejeon province. As a result, the preference rate of remodeling is increasing instead of reconstruction because reconstruction of apartment buildings takes more money and needs long construction period.

As large-scale buildings, skyscrapers, and multi-purpose buildings recently increase in numbers dramatically, the internal space of such buildings becomes more and more large and complicated accordingly. Since such structures usually accommodate a number of random people, the potential possibilities of disastrous tragedies are high, and the rates of injury and physical damage caused by the complicated system of the building also increase as well. However, most of the shelter designs of the existing buildings are based on the specifications according to the assigned laws and involved regulations. In this case, only general criteria are referred to regardless of the characteristics of each structure while other disaster-related features are not taken into consideration sufficiently. Since any actual fire may cause a terrible calamity, in such plans, shelter inducement can be neither safe nor effective. Thus, this study examines and analyzes currently run disaster prevention systems and shelter inducement facilities with COEX Mall as its subject, and analyzes the responding system to each situation based on the fire scenarios by means of As-Is Model. Through this analysis, presented are the measures to solve the problems of current disaster prevention systems and to improve shelter inducement methods effectively.

Recently, in Korea, construction of high-rise buildings has been rapidly increasing. Therefore, in order to minimize the loss of life and property in the event of a fire, "performance-based design" which requires performance equal to or better than current regulations is obligatorily required. However, in the field of fire and evacuation simulation, which occupies a large part in the performance-based design, detailed technical guidelines have not yet been established. Therefore, various designers are proceeding with the computer simulation modelling by referring to the design report book previously performed. Especially, in the case of the fire simulation, according to the judgment of a designer the scenario type is selected and the input values is set. Even if the building is used for the same purpose, it is true that the result can be different depending on how and who designed it. Therefore, in this paper, we have investigated the fire scenarios type and scenarios input values by randomly examining 7 preliminary reports of performance-based design in B metropolitan city. We also propose the improvement strategy for fire simulation and lay the groundwork for establishment of technical guidelines for fire simulation for performance-based design.
