  • Domestic construction industry, which has recently had difficulty in market saturation and slowing growth, is trying to resolve this situation by incorporation with IT technology. However, there was less choice and has simply used IT technology as required in construction field. In other word, IT technology has applied to not all processes but some parts. Therefore, in this paper, we find out suitable and promising IT technology to each step of construction process, analyzing IT convergence technology related to whole process comprehensively in order to suggest fundamental directions for effective construction IT convergence in the field.

  • In the recent information-oriented age, various information technologies (ITs) have been introduced in construction industries. However, since construction ITs tend to be employed by the demand of the government or owners rather than the demand of information accepters (users), this tendency inhibits the spread of user-friendly construction ITs. In order to find these inhibitive factors, this research conducted practical studies, based on Davis' technology acceptance model, for construction ITs' acceptance according to the information accepters' (users) features. This study was hypothesized whether or not each inner and outer factors with respect to construction ITs are influential to the information accepters (users). As a result of this study, the primary factors which can maximize the usefulness and ease of use and should be considered when developing new information technologies were suggested.

  • In recent years, construction information management systems using Information Technology(IT) have been developed in the construction industry. Construction information management plays a significant role in successful project implementation and completion. However, there have been a number of problems in current practice that manually collects and utilizes construction information generated in site. This paper mainly describes a new approach which is able to gather, manage, and accumulate the construction information in real-time using IT tools such as PDA, barcode, RFID, biometrics identification and digital camera. It first reviews the existing applications and their limitations, and potential IT tools for construction data collection and management. It then proposes a utilization method of IT tools for an effective information management in domestic construction site. Conclusions and future research works are also made in this paper,

  • Korean construction firms have been continuing investment of IT for last ten years. However, manager did not support a decision-making of IT because there is no evaluation and feedback system of IT investment. This study is a preceding research of making IT evaluation model as a part of MOCT(the Ministry of Construction and Transportation)'s construction CALS/EC policy and makes a basic frame through a trend and state of IT survey. As a result of survey, To encourage them, IT development to be balanced in each members for successful stabilization of CALS/EC as well as IT evaluation will be conducted in accordance with one's environment, such as a role and level of companies.

  • 디지털 컨버전스는 IT산업 내에서 기기 및 네트워크간의 융합을 중심으로 전개되어 왔으나 최근에 와서는 IT의 활용 범위가 보다 확대되면서 타 산업 기술과의 접목이 활발히 전개되고 있다. 기기 또는 네트워크간의 통합이나 동일산업 내의 서비스 통합에서 벗어나, 의료, 자동차, 건설 등 다양한 산업과 IT산업이 결합되는 이종산업간 융합이 진행 중이다. 특히 최근에 와서는 오래된 역사를 갖는 건설 분야와 반세기 동안 비약적인 발전을 이룩한 IT 분야가 서로 융 복합되어 새로운 형태의 서비스를 탄생시키고 있다. 건설-IT 기술의 융 복합을 통해서 서비스가 고도화가 되고, 지능화 되고 있으나, 이런 편리함에 비례하여 보안적인 문제들이 많이 생겨나고 있다. 본 고에서는 건설분야 IT기술 적용 현황에 대해서 분석하고 건설-IT 융 복합 환경에서 발생되는 보안적인 취약점 및 이슈사항을 분석을 통해 건설-IT 융 복합 기술이 나아가야할 방향을 모색하고자 한다.

  • 현재 어느 기업이든 업무 환경을 e-Transformation하는 쪽에 많은 노력을 기울이고 있으며 이의 성과는 곧 기업의 경쟁력 제고와 밀접한 관계에 있다. 이러한 환경의 변화는 건설산업에 있어서도 예외일 수 없으며 오히려 국내외 현장에서 Business가 이루어지는 건설산업에서는 더욱 업무환경을 e-Transformation화하는 것이 필요한 상태이다. 그러나 많은 기업들의 노력에도 불구하고 If의 실제적 가시효과는 크지 않은 것이 현실이며 Best Practice도 국내외의으로 많지 않고 이에 따라 건설업에서의 17 활용 수준은 매우 미미한 상태이다. 국내외에 널리 알려진 ERP Package도 국내의 건설 업무 Process에 최적으로 적용할 수 있는 Solution은 없어 많은 기업에서 IT 적용의 방향 수립을 제대로 못하고 있는 상황이다: LG건설은 이러한 건설환경에서 IT를 활용하여 모든 업무를 공사과 손익이 연결된 사업관리를 이루고 언제 어디서든지 IT를 활용한 업무를 수행할 수 있도록 하는 통합정보시스템을 구축, 운영 중에 있으며 현재 많은 성과를 거두고 있다. 또한 핵심 기술에 대하여는 정보화 사업 전략하에 건설업계에서는 드물게 정보화 사업도 추진 중에 있으며 이러한 성공사례를 공유하고자 한다.

  • In the construction industry, there is a growing demand for new programs incorporating IT applications. In construction, initiatives calling for changes ensuring the improvement of productivity, quality and safety, and for the strengthening of global competitiveness, have contributed to the increased need for exploring new markets. Moreover, the government's supportive policies have helped develop profit models. Meanwhile, the industry and the government have supported the efforts for identifying and disseminating successful case studies - as part of the strategy for evaluating and promoting the developed programs. However, the criteria for identifying/evaluating successful cases remain vague, and the viewpoints of participants differ depending on their disciplines. These discrepancies could lead to inconsistent results. Thus, it is imperative that a criterion be provided, upon which to judge the success or failure of implementation cases and to disseminate role models. It is also imperative that a direction of improvement be proposed. This study was conducted to propose the criteria for and process of evaluating the success of construction-IT convergence to help promote the construction industry incorporating IT applications. To that end, success factors for and the significance of IT-incorporated construction were identified.

The application possibility of high-tech IT technique is coming to be high in construction industry. Currently, the user requirements that upgrade existing system to high-tech construction project information system combined construction CALS system applying in road/river business management service with high-tech IT such as ubiquitous and mobile techniques are increasing. Therefore, the objective of this study is to verify site application of RFID and mobile equipment for applying in high-tech field with ubiquitous and mobile techniques so that construction CALS system gets advanced increasingly.

  • In the construction industry, "Green" is emerging as a keyword of new growth engine. Since green construction competitiveness is essential for contractors' survival and growth, it is important to understand what constitutes green construction competitiveness. The objective of the study is to identify elements of green construction competitiveness and to discuss relationships between their importance and current level based on the Gap analysis. A better understanding of the elements of green construction competitiveness assists contractors in formulating green strategies. It also provides insight into what motivates contractors in establishing related policies and regulations. The study identifies that in general there exists a gap between the importance and current level of green construction competitiveness. It also demonstrates that CEO' competence shows a less gap between the importance and current level but firms' competence is an area of weakness. Finally a substantial gap is observed in the field of green R&D strategies and sub-contracting partners.
