An Analysis of the Causal Relations of Factors Influencing Construction Accidents Using DEMATEL Method (DEMATEL 기법을 적용한 건설재해 영향요인 구조 분석)

  • As the construction industry accounts for 28.5% of industrial accidents in Korea and 29.6% of industrial accident deaths in 2017, it is necessary to search for a priority disaster reduction scheme for the construction industry in order to reduce the industrial accident rate. Therefore, this research suggested improvement direction for construction accidents reduction based on factors affecting construction accidents occurring in the construction site by DEMATEL analysis. As a result of the analysis, the 4M factors with the highest Prominence and Relation is 'Management', and the detailed analysis of the 4M factors were Personal characteristics of workers, Defects such as machinery and equipment, Inadequate inspection of machinery and equipment, Insufficient safety management plan, Inappropriate work orders from supervisors and field managers. The analysis results of this research can be used as a basic data for establishing direction of reduction and improvement of construction accidents.

안전교육이 건설재해예방에 미치는 영향

  • 국내 산업재해 가운데 건설재해는 최근 10년 동안 전체 산업재해의 20% 이상을 차지하고 있다. 이러한 건설재해는 국내 건설산업에 인적, 물적으로 많은 피해를 주고 있다. 건설산업은 타산업에 비하여 재해를 일으킬 수 있는 요인을 많이 갖고 있기 때문에 이러한 재해요인을 안전교육으로 어느 정도 예방할 수 있다는 근거를 제시함으로써 경영자 및 현장 총괄책임자들에게 안전교육의 중요성을 제시하고자 한다.

  • Construction has been well known as the industry in which accidents occur more often than other industries. The efforts to eliminate the accidents at construction sites need to be continuously conducted because they tend to cause the social problems such as massive loss of life and property. According to the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency (KOSHA), 26,570 (29.3 percent) out of 90,656 workers in total industrial accidents have been occurred in the construction industry in 2016. Particularly, the falling victims are the largest number, which is about 8,699. This number is increasing due to the increase of the large scale, high-rise, and complex construction structures and the various construction methods. In reality, there is a lack of analysis on the risk factors of safety accidents and preventive measures. Therefore, in this study, we have selected risk factors by analyzing the accident cases at construction sites. Based on the results, we conducted a safety practitioner-focused survey and had an interview with safety managers. In analyzing the cases, we have categorized them into three groups such as upper, middle, and lower and compared their statistical results. This study are expected to provide safety management guidelines with workers and safety managers to prevent previously fall accidents at construction site.

  • 기술발전에 따라 건설현장은 스마트 안전관리기술을 활용한 안전관리의 변화가 예고되고 있다. 중대재해처벌법 시행(22.1.27)이후 50인 이상 사망사고는87건(96명)으로 전년 동기109건(111명)대비22건(20.2%), 15명(13.5%)감소한 것으로 나타났다(국토교통부,2022). 반면에 단순비교지만 일본0.14%, 미국0.37%, 영국0.03%에 비해 한국의 재해율이 높으므로 다양한 안전관리활동의 과제가 남아 있다. 이에 아차사고 유형이 건설현장 특성간의 민감도모델 제시를 기반으로 근본적인 재해관리가 연구의 목적이다. 이를 이루기 위해 국토교통부의 아차사고 발굴데이터를 분석하여 유형을 분류하고, 공사기간, 공사규모, 신체부위 등의 요인간의 아차사고 민감성요인에 대하여 Bayesian Network를 이용하여 아차사고에 영향을 주는 모델링을 제시하고자 한다.

  • 2012년 9월부터 건설현장 위험성평가는 안전관리 업무로 의무화되었으나, 해당 근로자가 사전위험성을 추정하고 대책을 수립하여 재해예방 활동으로 연계되기에는 위험성평가 작성부터 어려움이 있다. 위험성평가 운영시스템 구축을 통해 건설현장 근로자가 해당작업의 위험요인 및 안전대책을 쉽게 파악할 수 있도록, 작업 공종 선택만으로 해당작업의 다양한 위험요인과 안전대책을 제시하고, 해당 공종에서 발생한 재해사례를 보여줌으로써 동종 재해 재발방지 대책수립이 가능하도록 시스템을 구축하였다. 이러한 위험성평가 활동의 효과분석을 위해 H건설사의 운영평가에서, 위험성평가 운영시스템 구축 이후 건설현장 근로자가 위험성평가 활용에 쉽게 접근할 수 있고 해당공정의 위험요인 추정 및 위험예방 대책 수립이 가능하게 되었으며, 평가기간 동안 재해율 감소에도 영향이 있는 것으로 분석되었다.

Affinity Analysis Between Factors of Fatal Occupational Accidents in Construction Using Data Mining Techniques (데이터마이닝 기법을 활용한 건설 중대 재해요인 간 연관성 분석)

  • Governments and companies are trying to reduce occupational accidents in the construction industry; however, the number of disasters are not decreasing significantly. This study aims to identify the correlation between factors affecting construction disasters quantitatively. To this end, 1,197 cases of serious disasters provided by Korea Occupational Safety and Health Administration (KOSHA) were analyzed using affinity analysis, one of the data mining techniques. The data from KOSHA were preprocessed and analyzed with variables of accident type, project type, activity type, original cause materials, sensory temperature, time of the accident, and fall height, and the association rules were derived for fall accidents and the others. For fall accidents, 64 association rules with lift ratios of 1.38 or greater were derived, and for the other accidents, 59 association rules with lift ratios of 1.54 or greater were derived. After analyzing the derived association rules focusing on the relationship among accident factors, this study presented the significance of applying the affinity analysis to address the study's limitations. The significance of this study can be found in that the correlation among factors affecting construction accidents is presented quantitatively.

Causal Relationship between the Risk-inducing Factors and Safety Inspection and Accident Reduction in Small Construction Sites (소규모 건설현장에서 위험유발요인과 안전점검이 재해 저감 대책에 미치는 인과 관계)

  • This study aims to identify the influence of risk-inducing factors and safety inspection on the measures of reducing accidents among workers of building structures in small construction sites. The result can be summarized as follows: First, as for the influence of risk-inducing factors on human factors, preparation for work, disintegrating molds, taking follow-up measures, and keeping records, have statistically significant influences. Therefore, it can be said that safety inspection has a partial mediating effect in the relationship between risk-inducing factors and human factors. Second, as for the influence of risk-inducing factors on facility factors, preparation for work, and taking follow-up measures influenced significantly. This indicates that safety inspection has a partial mediating effect in the relationship between risk-inducing factors and facility factors. Third, as for the influence of risk-inducing factors on management factors, the installation of shores and risk assessment are found to have significant effects. This shows that safety inspection has a partial mediating effect in the relationship between risk-inducing factors and management factors. Fourth, the influence of risk-inducing factors on work factors was significant only in the installation of shores. This indicates that safety inspection has a completely mediating effect in the relationship between risk-inducing factors and work factors. Finally, in the relationship between risk-inducing factors and accident reduction measures, preparation for work, installation of shores, and taking follow-up measures showed significantly positive influences. In contrast, keeping records has a significant negative influence. Thus, safety inspection has a partial mediating effect in the relationship between risk-inducing factors and management factors.

An Analysis on the Accident Influence Factor and Severity of Construction General Workers (건설 보통인부의 안전재해 영향요인 및 재해강도 분석)

  • General workers who assist various technicians in different fields with their work across the whole construction sites without having a particular skill are at risk of the highest accident rate and their accident form becomes varied. Accordingly, this study was conducted to identify the relationship between form of safety accident and influence factor in general workers and analyze accident severity by influence factor. The followings are the results from this study. First, as a result of analyzing major form of accident and influence factors in general workers with network analysis methodology, nine forms of accident and seventeen influence factors were drawn. Second, it was found that in accident severity among general workers, collapsing, among various forms of accident, appeared the highest, followed by fall, electric shock, fire, hit by an object, bumped against, trip, scission getting cut chopped in order. Third, main points of special, concentrated, and permanent management were presented in order to reduce the safety accident in general workers effectively.

A Study on the Influencing Factors of Falling Disaster in Small and Medium-sized Construction Sites (중소형 건설현장의 추락재해 영향요인 분석 연구)

  • This research aims to identify risk factors for fall accidents at small and medium-sized construction sites through a comprehensive regression analysis. Initially, the study involved collecting a decade's worth of fall accident data from these sites. A t-test confirmed a significant variation in the treatment duration following fall accidents between two distinct groups: small and medium-sized versus large construction sites. Subsequently, a regression analysis was conducted to establish a model highlighting the risk factors associated with safety accidents. The factors influencing fall accidents were determined to be, in descending order of impact, the time of the accident, the day of the accident, and the occupational classification. The findings from this study are expected to serve as foundational data for enhancing policies and conducting statistical analyses tailored to construction site sizes. They also provide crucial information for future research on risk quantification at small and medium-sized construction sites.
