  • This study suggests a methodology for automatically extracting placing information from 2D reinforced concrete details drawings and generating a 3D reinforcement placing model to develop a mobile augmented reality for bar placing work. To make it easier for users to acquire placing information, it is suggested that users takes pictures of structural drawings using a camera built into a mobile device and extract placing information using vision recognition and the OCR(Optical Character Registration) tool. In addition, an augmented reality app is implemented using the game engine to allow users to automatically generate 3D reinforcement placing model and review the 3D models by superimposing them with real images. Details are described for application to the proposed methodology using the previously developed programming tools, and the results of implementing reinforcement augmented reality models for typical members at construction sites are reviewed. It is expected that the methodology presented as a result of application can be used for learning bar placing work or construction review.

  • An information system in a construction project has been typically used for drawing, document management, and administration process. And it has limitations to support real-time communication and collaboration among project stakeholders. The objective of this research is to improve communication, information share, and task management by developing a collaboration platform among project stakeholders supporting various communication methods and contents. The platform developed in this research, named as CCP, aims to support communication and collaboration related activities beyond the scope of legacy systems at construction sites. CCP was validated through pilot test and user survey, and it was found to be very helpful for sharing and distributing information, tracking and recording, and improving a user's work capability.

  • Building information modeling (BIM) has the advantage of having been utilized for various scenarios through a single model. Although extracting 2D drawings from BIM is one of the advantages, there are many difficulties when utilized in practical work. Architectural detail drawings are an important factor for expressing interior finishing materials and complicated construction methods, as well as for cost estimations. However, creating detail drawings does not have a standard, and each design company establishes its own detail drawings, so it is hard to share or exchange information in the construction industry. Therefore, this study suggests a systemized method for making detail drawings, and explains how it can be utilized as back data for quantity take-off and construction expenses linked with BIM libraries.

  • According to the functions of city are getting more complicate and diverse, recently the concerns about underground space have been risen, and many infra-structures for social activities are now constructed under the ground. To maintain these kind of infra-structures effectively, it is necessary for concerned workers to access easily to the existing drawings and design information. and to modify the design drawings immediately o the changes of design value. And in the field of construction, immediate structural analysis and generation of design drawings will help to promote manufacturing ability, the quality of products, and the effectiveness of maintenance of design materials effectively.

  • This study extracts the several informations by computerizing the maps of the new city, i.e. Yang-San, MuI-Gum. This cities are being constructed by Land Coporation, and a map of province based on 1:50,000 scales were digitalized depending on topography by digitizer. Several information was taken, by computerizing a existing design maps, with digitalized maps used. Also, there is map number based on each scale, and measure a settlement of the foundation for constructing a facility in a study region, then intend to use information. This paper aims at using old data such as ancient writing books by computerization permanently.

  • Existing 4D systems are using the 1:1 link system that directly links a schedule and a 3D model object. But considering that plant facility includes various kinds of schedule and 3D model object, this study suggests an improved link methodology of multi-selected objects and two-way link system for minimizing link errors which generated in case of multi-selected objects. For the link system, this study introduces a new concept called as interface board. Interface board can be used as an information center for representing all information of link items in the current project. It may be expected that 4D model can build an effective and rapid link system of plant project by this new approach.

  • Recent advancements in Building Information Modeling(BIM) have significantly impacted the construction industry, driving competitiveness and innovation. However, rebar construction, a critical component influencing project quality and cost, has lagged behind in BIM adoption. Traditional methods relying heavily on 2D drawings for rebar detailing have hindered efficiency and introduced potential errors. This paper presents a novel system designed to automate the detailed modeling of rebar, thereby promoting BIM integration within rebar construction and optimizing construction management processes. The system leverages confirmed structural drawings from the post-structural design phase to automatically generate intricate rebar models for columns and beams. To ensure adherence to domestic structural design standards, the system is developed using C# programming language and the Revit API. By automating rebar modeling, this system aims to minimize human error, reduce labor-intensive tasks, and enhance overall rebar construction efficiency through the effective utilization of generated rebar model data.

  • This study proposed a map registration method of a building construction plan drawing with shape matching of cadastral parcel polygon. In general, the drawing contains information about a building boundary and a cadastral parcel boundary. The shape of this cadastral parcel boundary should be same as that of the corresponding parcel polygon object in the KLIS continuous cadastral map. Thus, shape matching between two parcel boundary polygons from the drawing and cadastral map could present transformation parameters. Translation and scaling amounts could be obtained by difference of centroid coordinates and area ratio of the polygons, respectively. Rotation amount could be obtained by the rotation that presents the minimum Turning function dissimilarity of the polygons. The proposed method was applied for building construction plan drawings in eAIS for an urban area in Suwon. To assess positional accuracy of map registration, building polygons in registered drawings and aerial photos were compared. According to the accuracy of the cadastral map which is the reference dataset of the proposed method, the RMSE of corresponding buildings' corners was 0.95m and 2.37m in new and old urban areas, respectively.

  • BIM(Building Information Modeling) enables 3D model-base management for all information produced by construction project during its life cycle. Also as a national policy, BIM has been institutionalized as design criteria. But, on the matter of 2D drawing using BIM software (Revit Architecture), it has been recognized as difficult to realize the same quality drawing drawn by CAD. The purpose of this study is verifying the possibility of printable design drawing implemented by BIM software at the same quality of 2D shop drawing drawn by 2D CAD. Through the analysis of basic design elements of 3D BIM software and 2D CAD software, with the case of partial cross sectional drawing which is most faithful representation of the basic design elements, this study find out that the 3D BIM software can produce the same quality 2D printable drawing utilizing its implicit function.
