The study found differences in grit and health promotion behavior were statistically significant, respectively, depending on gender, health interest, eating habit or smoking and on perceived health state, health interest, eating habit, alcohol or exercise. This study also found that there were significantly positive correlations between grit and health promotion behavior and significantly positive effect of grit, eating habit or exercise on the promotion behavior. These findings suggest that various education programs or strategies should be created to improve nursing college students' regular eating habits, accurate exercise and grit that influence their health promotion behavior.

  • This study was done to explore the level of physiologic health status and health promotion lifestyle, and its contributing factors of Korean older adults. A total of 209 older adults participated in this study that ran from July 2 to July 6, 2004 in the waiting area of the subways of Seoul. The average age of the respondents was 67 years old with 39.2% considering themselves as healthy, 71.3% stating they regularly exercised and 71.8% knowing their own blood pressure. Among the participants 44% were classified as having high or low blood pressure and 44.5% showing abnormal blood sugar. The mean score of health promotion lifestyle was 2.75 and the order of its subcategories was interpersonal relationship, nutrition, stress management, spiritual growth, physical activities, and health responsibilities. This score was altered by exercise and knowing personal blood pressure. As a result of this study, it is important for older adults to know their own blood pressure and to exercise regularly to promote good health. In addition, health promotion programs should be developed and implemented based on the influencing factors.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the relationships among school-aged children's perceived parenting style, children's self-esteem, health promoting behavior and to determine whether self-esteem was a the mediator of the relationship between parenting style and health promoting behavior. Participants were 425 school-aged children of 5th and 6th grade. Data were analyzed using t-tests, Pearson correlation, and hierarchical multiple regression. The child's health promoting behavior was positively associated with receptive parenting style and positively associated with self-esteem. Also, the results showed that the effect of receptive parenting style on health promoting behavior was significantly partially mediated by self-esteem. Therefore, parenting style and children's self-esteem need to be factored in when designing and applying health education program for school-aged children. Also, the program need to be designed to enhance receptive parenting style that can lead to children's increase self-esteem.

Data were collected from September 1 to October 30, 2014 using self-report questionnaires which was changed to match the Korean tool. Data analyzed by frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, ANOVA, Pearsons correlation and multiple regression using the IBM SPSS Statistics 22. The mean level of health perception was $3.29({\pm}0.53)$, the mean level of health knowledge was $7.55({\pm}1.67)$ and the mean level of health promotion behavior was $2.88({\pm}1.67)$. Health promotion behavior showed strong and positive correlation with health perception(0.65), health knowledge(0.29), subjective health status(0.24) which was statistically significant. The factors affecting health promotion behavior were gender, health preception and health information. R2 showed 55%.
