  • Health care services in a residential area would accelerate the aging in place. In addition, these changes would play a key role in terms of reducing healthcare costs and leading a healthy lifestyle. The purpose of this study draws the design methodology of community facilities and each dwelling with healthcare services in apartment complex, which the elderly people will enjoy a better health status. This paper presents the result focused on the welfare building in Gayang 7th apartment complex. The intention to receive healthcare services was investigated by occupants. Moreover, design requirements were drawn through in-depth interviews and the state observation to use the service. In the complex, stronger intention to serve the u-Healthcare services was shown to the pre elderly group than the elderly. Both of them had a problem to use and keep the health equipment due to the fact there is not enough space in the unit. Reporting the observation results, the upright-posture furniture attaching the healthcare equipment and the equipment storage should be prepared in the unit. In the public space, the program for these healthcare services can be divided into three parts, i.e. the health status measurement, the healthcare, and the service connected to the surrounding facilities. The health status measurement can be the basic to the health services and its function should be gradually extended. In the complex, the hybrid type with various functions could be applied owing to a new building for welfare; moreover, semi-independent user should be able to receive the home healthcare service.

  • A smart-home is considered as one of most important alternatives of future homes with rising attention on IT technologies. The purpose of the study was to analyse the trend of smart-home technologies and to see how they reflect changing lifestyle needs. The research method includes a content analysis and a case study. The result shows that 'automation' functions are 35% of total. 'Health'(19%) and 'entertainment'(15%) functions are followed by 'Energy'(15%), 'Information'(11%). and 'relationship(6%).' This study is meaningful in that it examined smart-home technologies centering on the needs of residents rather than technological perspectives. Further researches on specialized smart-homes should be continued reflecting segmented needs of residents such as a medical home and a energy saving home etc.

  • The purpose of the study is to identify land use characteristics which have influence on residents' mental health. Land use and housing types indicators including green areas and parks were selected by analyzing the related environment and health researches. Research database for every variable from 33 neighborhoods in Jeonju city were established through National Health Insurance Corporation, where is available for getting mental and behavioral disabilities (F code) expenses. The relation between those indexes and mental health were analysed. The findings of this study are as follows : First, the higher price area like apartments and raw houses the residents lived in, the more expenditure of F-code was paid. It could be interpreted by the relatively high frequency of medical treatment and interests on the health. Second, the more green area except park were there, the more F-code expenditure was given, which could be explicated with the spatial co-relation between location of green area and apartments of Jeonju city. It was very high, and apartment element's affect on the F-code was much more than the green zone. Third, the nearer to park were the residents, the less F-code expenses was paid.

  • This study aims to examine the effect of housing environment on single mothers' health and to find out how to improve their health and housing environment. For the purpose, this study analyzed the Single-parents survey carried out by Ministry of Gender Equality and Family in 2015. The results are as follows. When residential functions such as mining, heating, and noise are not fulfilled among the physical characteristics of the residential environment, single-mothers are more likely to feel unhealthy. Among the socio-economic characteristics of housing, people who live in public rental housing are more likely to feel unhealthy than those living in own house. And people who have excessive household debt are less healthy than those having no debt. Socioeconomic characteristics of housing environments had a significant effect on depression of single-mothers. Based on the results, the author suggested that housing improvement services, survey of housing conditions of single parents, provision of services considering household debt and improving residential conditions of public rentals houses should be implemented.

  • One of the problems in designing the fifth Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey(KNHNES) is the lack of an appropriate sampling frame. Due to the significant time difference, we expect eight severe sampling frame errors if we use the sampling frame obtained from the latest population and housing census that was conducted in 2005. Thus, the construction of an appropriate sampling frame for the fifth KNHNES is crucial for a successful survey. We considered the construction of a sampling frame that overcomes the limitations of the 2005 population and housing census based frame. For the construction of eight new sampling frames, we considered the use of multiple sampling frames in which the frame for the apartment households and the frame for the general households are obtained from different sources.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the housing tenure choice decisions of older households, with focus on the activity constraints of the householders. For analysis, the probit model based on the data of the householders over 55 years of age from the 2015 KLIPS data was implemented. The research findings indicate that the ownership choice probability decreases when the head of the household has activity or social activity constraints. If there is an activity restriction, it is considered that the possibility of self-residence will be low due to the increase in medical expenses, the possibility of participation in economic activities will be low, the possibility of early retirement will be high, and the income will decrease. Therefore, if the head of the household has a personal or social activity constraint, such case is more likely to be categorized as falling under the poor residential group. This result suggests that the activity constraint can be utilized as a useful index for the housing welfare policy considering physical vulnerability.

  • The purpose this study is to develop indicators that measure the healthy housing condition of multi-family housing. The major findings are as follow: first, healthy housing was defined by physical, mental, social, and management aspects and proposed the conceptual model of hierarchy structure of evaluation of healthy housing by literature reviews. Second, evaluating items were selected based on literature reviews of existing indicators and preceding studies about both domestic and overseas multi-family housing. The evaluating indicators were identified as a total of 87 evaluating items which were composed of four dimensions and 16 attributes on the basis of the conceptual model. They cover comprehensive scope of the multi-family housing such as unit, building, complex, and site. Third, as the measurement, the 5-point ordinal scale measure was suggested. The evaluating measurement including measure standards, measure methods, and measure contents were developed by each evaluating items. Lastly, the weighting of evaluating indicators was developed by AHP method conducted by survey of an expert group. Items were identified as high contributors or low contributors. The weighting of these items could suggest several evaluations according to the situation. The level of healthy housing condition may be evaluated by both total evaluation and a specific field of evaluation.
