Determination of the Required Minimum Spacing Between Signalized Intersection and Minor Road (교차로에 인접한 부 도로의 적정 이격거리 산정)

  • Since there is no clear installation criteria on minimum spacing between signalized intersection and minor road, many problems have occurred in terms of traffic operation and safety. Even though many studies about entrance/exit intersection have been done in operational aspects, there is no specific and detailed research between the signalized intersection and minor road by now. Thus, this research suggests the optimal spacing between signalized intersection and minor road considering traffic operation and safety. Also, survey on vehicle behavior was conducted in this research. In conclusion, by suggesting the required minimum spacing between signalized intersection and minor road, it can be contribute in establishing and operating the installation criteria between signalized intersection and minor road.

Modified Speeded Up Robust Features(SURF) for Performance Enhancement of Mobile Visual Search System (모바일 시각 검색 시스템의 성능 향상을 위하여 개선된 Speeded Up Robust Features(SURF) 알고리듬)

  • In the paper, we propose enhanced feature extraction and matching methods for a mobile environment based on modified SURF. We propose three methods to reduce the computational complexity in a mobile environment. The first is to reduce the dimensions of the SURF descriptor. We compare the performance of existing 64-dimensional SURF with several other dimensional SURFs. The second is to improve the performance using the sign of the trace of the Hessian matrix. In other words, feature points are considered as matched if they have the same sign for the trace of the Hessian matrix, otherwise considered not matched. The last one is to find the best distance-ratio which is used to determine the matching points. We find the best distance-ratio through experiments, and it gives the relatively high accuracy. Finally, existing system which is based on normal SURF method is compared with our proposed system which is based on these three proposed methods. We present that our proposed system shows reduced response time while preserving reasonably good matching accuracy.

Optimal Layout Design of Offshore Wind Turbines by Response Surface Analysis (반응표면분석법에 의한 해상풍력터빈 최적배치 설계)

  • An optimal layout condition of the offshore wind turbines is studied by using the response surface analysis which is a kind of the design of experiments. Based on the assumption that total 36 turbines would be installed in the offshore wind farm, the number and distance of the rows and columns are used as the design variables and the efficiency decrease of power generation due to the wake decay by the interactions of turbines and the installation cost of the internal electric grid are considered as the objective functions of the response surface analysis for the layout design of turbines. Useful design information can be derived by analyzing the relationship between the design variables and target functions. It is found that the row number and the distance between rows should be minimized, and the optimal distance between columns should be estimated and adopted to the layout design within the specified design range in order to ensure the economics for the offshore wind farm.

Multi-layer Speech Processing System for Point-Of-Interest Recognition in the Car Navigation System (차량용 항법장치에서의 관심지 인식을 위한 다단계 음성 처리 시스템)

  • In the car environment that the first priority is a safety problem, the large vocabulary isolated word recognition system with POI domain is required as the optimal HMI technique. For the telematics terminal with a highly limited processing time and memory capacity, it is impossible to process more than 100,000 words in the terminal by the general speech recognition methods. Therefore, we proposed phoneme recognizer using the phonetic GMM and also PDM Levenshtein distance with multi-layer architecture for the POI recognition of telematics terminal. By the proposed methods, we obtained high performance in the telematics terminal with low speed processing and small memory capacity. we obtained the recognition rate of maximum 94.8% in indoor environment and of maximum 92.4% in the car navigation environments.

  • An improved method of moments using a hybrid Galerkin-interpolation technique for numerical analysis of electromagnetic wave scattering in the 3-dimensional space is presented in this paper. Basically, the EFIE(electric field integral equation) and RWG(Rao-Wilton-Glisson) basis function are used to compute a property of electromagnetic wave scattering. We propose a hybrid technique combining the existing Galerkin's method with the interpolation method to improve the efficiency of the numerical computation. Then, an index of relative distance of each cells was defined to distinguish the relatively far elements, which interpolation method can be applied. To verify the performance of the proposed technique, the analytical Mie-series solution was used to compute the theoretical RCS of a conducting sphere for the purpose of comparison. We also applied this hybrid technique to various scatterers such as trihedral/omni-directional corner-reflectors to analyze the radar backscattering properties.

Camera and LiDAR Sensor Fusion for Improving Object Detection (카메라와 라이다의 객체 검출 성능 향상을 위한 Sensor Fusion)

  • This paper focuses on to improving object detection performance using the camera and LiDAR on autonomous vehicle platforms by fusing detected objects from individual sensors through a late fusion approach. In the case of object detection using camera sensor, YOLOv3 model was employed as a one-stage detection process. Furthermore, the distance estimation of the detected objects is based on the formulations of Perspective matrix. On the other hand, the object detection using LiDAR is based on K-means clustering method. The camera and LiDAR calibration was carried out by PnP-Ransac in order to calculate the rotation and translation matrix between two sensors. For Sensor fusion, intersection over union(IoU) on the image plane with respective to the distance and angle on world coordinate were estimated. Additionally, all the three attributes i.e; IoU, distance and angle were fused using logistic regression. The performance evaluation in the sensor fusion scenario has shown an effective 5% improvement in object detection performance compared to the usage of single sensor.

  • 본 논문에서는 Video see-through HMD 에 기반 하여 증강 현실을 위한 손 인터페이스를 제안한다. 착용형 컴퓨터의 입력 장치로써 Video see-through HMD 에 부착된 USB 카메라로부터 영상을 입력 받은 후, HSV 컬러 공간에서 탐색 윈도우 안의 개체를 이중 임계 값을 이용해 손과 팔이 포함된 객체로 분리한다. 그 다음 거리 변형 행렬을 이용하여 손과 팔을 분리하고, 볼록 다각형 외각점 추출을 통해 손 끝의 좌표를 검출한다. 이를 기반으로 한 어플리케이션 "AR-Memo"은 현실세계에서 손끝에 가상의 펜을 증강하여 메모를 하고 이동중에 손바닥을 통해 메모를 볼 수 있다. 증강 현실 기반 손 인터페이스를 사용함으로써 사용자는 이동중에도 직관적으로 입력을 할 수 있다. 또한 어떠한 물리적인 장치나 마커를 손에 부착하지 않기 때문에 자연스러운 인터페이스이다. 본 시스템은 착용형 컴퓨터와 결합되어 사용자에게 편리한 인터페이스를 제공할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

  • 비디오 시퀀스에서 3D 모델을 복원하기 위해서는 기하 모델 추정이 용이한 프레임을 선택해야 한다. 본 논문에서는 안정 장치 도움을 받는 전문 비디오가 아닌 일반 비디오에서 고품질의 프레임을 손쉽게 자동 추출하는 방법을 제안한다. 제안하는 기법은 optical flow 기반 매칭 분석, 프레임 간 적당한 기준선 거리 판단, 비디오 내에서 빠른 탐색을 위한 고속 도약, 두 프레임 간의 호모그래피와 기본 행렬에 대한 GRIC 점수, 모션 블러 프레임 제거 방법 모두를 결합한다. 실내 공간에 촬영된 비디오를 이용한 실험을 통해, 우리의 방법이 모션 블러와 저하 움직임이 있는 상황에서 더 강건하게 3D point cloud 를 생성하는 것을 보여준다.

  • 본 논문에서는 간단한 사용자 입력과 다중 랜덤 워크(multiple random walker) 기법을 기반으로 동영상 내의 주요 객체를 분할하는 알고리즘을 제안한다. 우선 동영상의 첫 프레임에서 점 형태의 사용자의 입력을 받아 대략적인 객체와 배경의 위치를 얻고, Lab 색상의 측지거리를 이용하여 객체와 배경의 중요도 지도를 얻는다. 다음으로 영상을 슈퍼 픽셀 단위로 분할하고, 다중 랜덤 워크 기법을 적용하여 객체 분할을 수행한다. 랜덤 워크 기법 적용 시, 중요도 지도를 각 랜덤 워커의 초기 분포로 설정하고, 노드간 색상과 움직임 차이를 이용하여 전이 행렬을 계산한다. 마지막으로 결과를 정련한 뒤, 다음 프레임으로 분할 결과를 전파하여 시간적 일관성을 유지한다. 실험을 통하여 제안 기법이 기존 기법에 비하여 우수한 객체 분할 성능을 보임을 확인한다.

  • 본 논문은 스마트폰 카메라를 사용하여 파노라마 콘텐츠를 제작하기 위한 동영상 스티칭 방법을 제안한다. 본 논문에서는 동영상 스티칭 방법으로 특징점 추출 알고리즘인 SURF와 블렌딩 알고리즘인 멀티밴드 블랜딩 알고리즘을 사용한다. 또한, 동영상 스티칭 결과의 정확도를 향상 시키기 위하여 스마트폰의 센서 데이터를 사용하고, 동영상 스티칭 시 흔들림이 생기는 현상을 해결하기 위하여 선형 호모그래피 행렬 생성 방법을 적용하였다. 추가로 스마트폰을 활용하여 파노라마 콘텐츠 제작 시 요구되어지는 거리와 각도를 찾기 위한 실험을 진행하였다.
