Effect of Primer Coating Condition and Gap Clearance in $CO_2$ Laser Welding of Primer-coated Steel for Shipbuilding (조선용 프라이머 코팅강판의 $CO_2$ 레이저 용접에 있어서 프라이머 코팅 조건과 갭(Gap) 간극의 영향)

  • The spatter and porosity could be occurred during$CO_2$CW laser welding of Primer- coated steel for shipbuilding. This study has suggested an alternative idea by examining of weld-defect formation mechanism. The primer-coated plate induced the spatter humping bead and porosity and these are main part of the welding defect. attributed to the powerful vaporizing pressure of primer attached on the base metal The zinc of Primer has a boiling point that is the lower temperature than melting point of steel zinc vapor will build up at the interface between the two sheets and this tends to deteriorate the quality of the weld by ejecting weld material from lap position or leaving porosity. Therefore introducing a small gap clearance in the lap position. the zinc vapor could escape through it and sound weld beads can be acquired. In conclusion, we suggested the occurred and prevented mechanism of weld defects with searching the factor.

Estimation of Rutting based on Volumetric Properties of Asphalt Mixture (아스팔트 혼합물의 용적 특성을 이용한 소성변형 추정 연구)

  • Rutting on asphalt pavement surface is an important damage in most roadways in the world. Most of researches have developed prediction model for rutting on asphalt pavement as a function of physical properties of asphalt binder. But this study was devised to estimate rutting based on fundamental properties of asphalt mixture, not binder. Therefore this study objective is to estimate rutting based on volumetric properties, that is Air void, Void in mineral aggregate(VMA) and Void filled with asphalt(VFA), of asphalt mixture with various asphalt binders, aggregates and aggregate gradation. Results showed that it was possible to estimate rutting depth based on volumetric variables of asphalt mixture. In addition, VMA, the variable which is nor used In mix design in Korea, showed a significant correlation with rutting, It is recommended that VMA is adapted as a variable in domestic mix design. Also, It showed that VFA in the specification should be lowered at least 5% point since VFA was somewhat higher than optimum.

  • The major flow-induced vibration mechanisms such as fluid-elastic and turbulence excitation can cause the various types of wear of the steam generator tubes in unclear power plant. It is generally accepted that the tube wear due to vibration is affected by the presence of gap clearance between tube and support plate. Connors showed that the tube wear depth could be estimated by using the relationship between wear volume and sliding distance for contact time. Au-Yang predicted the wear depth by using the nonlinear characteristics of normal work rate to contact time. In this study the effect of gap size on the steam generator tubes wear is analyzed by deriving the wear depth versus normal work rate relationship from these previous results.

  • Recently, ozone is utilized in various fields and its needs are expanding. Therefore, so many ozone generation methods have been reported in the last year, its main purpose is to get the high ozone concentration and to improve the ozone yield one of them is a Co-axial cylinder-type ozonizer. In this paper, a new ozonizer, which is using radio-frequency power supply, is fabricated to investigate discharge characteristics and ozone generation characteristics in accordance wish variation of grip spacing of electrodes.

  • This paper proposes a new method of measuring an air interface distance between a solid immersion lens(SIL) applied magneto-optic technology and the disk surface. For applying near-field recording (NFR) technology to the magneto-optic storage devices for the next generation, it is positively necessary to maintain the small air gap under about 100㎚. We design an apparatus that consists of some optical components such as a prism, a polarizer and an analyzer. By using the Fresnel reflection coefficient equation, Jones matrices calculation and Malus's law, we establish a mathematical model for understanding the characteristics of the system. The simulations are based on the mathematical model and through the simulation results which is made with various cases we can estimate the performance of the new optical gap sensor system. Experimental results, which are also based on the mathematical model for specific cases, are in good agreement with simulated ones and demonstrate the possibility as the new optical gap sensor.

  • 아연코팅강판의 레이저 용접시 발생하는 용접결함은 이미 널리 알려진 이슈이다. 그러나 대부분의 연구가 박판을 중심으로 이루어지고 있어서, 후판을 중심으로 한 조선산업에서의 아연코팅 강판의 연구는 매우 미진한 실정이다. 이중 후판 아연코팅강판의 결함검출연구는 그 연구가 거의 전무한 실정으로, 본 연구에서는 후판 아연코팅강판의 레이저 겹치기용접시의 결함검출을 중심으로 실험을 실시하였다. 실험은 Fig. 1에서와 같이 광신호와 음향신호의 RMS를 통하여 raw signal에서 잘 나타나지 않았던 신호의 패턴을 확인함으로써 실제 신호와 비드와를 대응을 가능하게 하였다. 또한 결함 발생시의 RMS값을 건전한 상태와 비교분석하여 실제 결함검출의 가능성도 확인할 수 있었다.

  • The influence due to particle contaminated on spacer surface is remarkable in the decreasing of dielectric strength in SF6 GIS. In relation with this problem, We studied, AC flash-over voltage characteristics and breakdown mechanism are investigated under metallic and insulating particle initiated condition in SF6 gas by varying the particle position, particle shape with a plane-plane electrode. The main results are as follows $\circled1$ Influence of the flash-over voltage decrease for particle position is lowest in mid gap and is highest in separated small gap on electrode. $\circled2$ The metallic particle shape which results in the more reduced flash-over voltage, the FOV saturation moved in to the region of low pressure. $\circled3$Insulating particle less than 0.6[mm] are not almost influenced by the flash-over Voltage.oltage.

  • 본 논문에서는 Nd-YAG 레이저 용접 프로세스를 이용하여 두께가 다른 STS304스테인레스 박강판을 대상으로한 점용접에 관한 연구로서, 레이저 용접은 미소부위에 효율적인 접합가공이 가능한 공정으로 비접촉식 가열원을 이용하기 때문에 접합공정 중 기계적 변형이 없고, 레이저 빔을 국부가열원으로 하여 매우 좁은 부분에 제한적으로 열을 가할 수 있어서 강한 금속적 결합이 요구되는 소형부품의 접합에 이용될 수 있다. 뿐만 아니라 공정 변수들을 변화시켜 실제 접합부에 들어 가는 입열량을 쉽게 제어할 수 있다는 등 많은 장점을 가지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 1mm이하의 스테인레스 박판에 대한 레이저 점용접을 FDM과 신경회로망을 이용하여 해석하고 용접부의 너겟 크기, 용접부 깊이 등의 형상을 예측하였다. 또한 레이저 점용접에 있어서의 주요 변수인 펄스 에너지, 펄스 타임, 박판의 두께, 두 판사이의 간극크기 등득 변화시켜 실험하고 수치해석을 검증하기 위하여 여러 가지 강에 대한 레이저 점용접 실험을 수행하였다. 또한 수치해석 시뮬레이션을 위하여 윈도우 프로그래밍을 개발하였다.

Study on the Relationship Between Emission Signals and Weld Defect for In-Process Monitoring in CO2 Laser Welding of Zn-Coated Steel (아연코팅 강판의 CO2 레이저용접시 인프로세스 모니터링을 위한 측정신호와 용접결함과의 관련성 연구)

  • In this study, the plasma induced by $CO_2$ laser lap welding of 6t Zn coated steel used for ship building was measured using photodiodes and a microphone. Then, the welding phenomenon with gap clearance of lap joint was compared with RMS-treated signal. Thus, we found that intensity of the RMS-treated signal increased with Zn vaporization; further, the presence of defects results in rapid variations with the RMS value as a function of lap-joint parameters. Besides, the FFT value of the raw signal with variations of changing welding parameters was calculated, and then the calculated FFT frequency value was set as the bandwidth of digital filter for a more accurate in-process monitoring. The RMS values were acquired by filtering the raw signal. By matching the weld beads and the calculated RMS values, we confirmed that there is a strong relationship between the signals and the defects.
