국민의 대표기관이며 민의의 전당인 국회의사당. 75년 준공된 여의도동 1번지 국회가 ESCO 사업으로 새롭게 단장했다. 이번에 실시한 ESCO 조명사업은 기존에 사용하던 6만여개의 48W 형광램프를 32W 고효율기기로, 20W와 32W 2등용 안정기를 1등용으로 교체한 공사이며, 1년에 1억 9천7백만원을 절감할 수 있는 규모다. 조명공사후 맞은 16대 국회 개원식은 한결 산뜻한 조명 속에서 치뤄졌다.

대전을지대학병원은 지난 2004년 의료 지방화 시대를 선도한다는 기치 아래 중부권 최대 규모의 시설을 갖추고 지금의 대전시 둔산동으로 이전, 개원을 했다. 이후 서울의 유명 병원 못지않은 최첨단 장비와 화려한 의료진을 내세워 최고 수준의 의료서비스를 펼쳤고, 그 결과 보건복지부의 의료기관 인증제 평가에서 대전지역 최초로 인증을 획득하기까지 했다. 이는 당연히 최고 수준의 의료체계를 갖추었기에 가능한 일이었지만, 그것만이 전부는 아니다. 그 이면엔 우수한 체계를 갖출 수 있도록 원활한 지원을 펼친 이들이 있었다. 바로 이곳의 시설안전담당자들이다. 25년의 안전 내공으로 대전을지대학병원을 지역 최고의 의료기관으로 이끈 김덕기 과장을 만나 이야기를 나눠봤다.

Purpose : This study was conducted to assess clinical practices related to the evaluation and treatment of patients with acute gastrointestinal infection(AGI) in infants and children. This survey also evaluated the current opinion regarding the use of rotavirus vaccine. Methods : This survey was conducted using a self-administered questionnaire provided to 82 pediatricians in private clinics of Jeonbuk province. From April to June, 2002, 63 of 82 pediatricians(76.8 %) responded to the survey. Results : The annual proportion of patients with AGI was 13%. The highest proportion of patients with diarrhea were reported for the months of October through December. For the treatment of diarrhea, pediatricians preferred to prescribe lactobacillus products, oral rehydration solution, enzyme products, anti-emetics, anti-diarrheal formula, nothing by mouth(NPO) and bowel movement inhibitors in descending order of frequency. Most pediatricians(79.4%) prescribed antibiotics in less than 20% of patients with AGI. Amoxicillin was the most commonly prescribed antibiotics followed by trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole(TMP/SMX) and amoxicillin/clavulanate. Clinical manifestations that pediatricians considered as important factors in prescribing antibiotics were bloody diarrhea, mucoid diarrhea, high fever, persisting disease and abdominal pain. Diagnostic procedures that pediatricians preferred for AGI patients were stool examination(rotavirus antigen, RBC, WBC), abdominal X-ray, and serum electrolytes. Pediatricians had a strong interest in rotavirus vaccine(71.4%). Conclusion : Acute gastrointestinal illness remains a common problem, especially during the winter months in Korea. AGI manifesting as watery diarrhea is appropriately treated with commonly available agents but pediatricians appear ready to consider additional approaches to decrease the sizable disease burden of AGI among children in Korea.

Purpose: This study focuses on doctors' role expectation and patients satisfaction with the referral centers to get necessary basic Method: There were 495 subjects in this study. 245 of them were doctors working in the 397 clinics and hospitals which have made contracts with the referral center in Y General Hospital located in J city, and 250 were patients who had been treated in it. The data were collected from Sep. 25 to Oct. 21, in 2006. Data analysis was processed with SPSS/WIN 14.0 electronically. Results: Concluding cooperative treaties with other clinics and hospitals, doctors expect the following effects: First, the improvement of the treatment quality of patients. The patients satisfaction ranking order for using referral centers is as follows: kindness of the staff, treatment reservation, doctor's satisfying explanation. providing one-stop service, reduction of waiting time for treatment, evasion of repetitive tests. Conclusion: Referral centers should provide various services totally and actively which reflect the role expectation and satisfaction of doctors and patients altogether.

제245차 원자력위원회 의결에 따라 추진된 원자력 사업 추진 체제 조정 작업이 96년 말로 완료됨에 따라, 그 동안 한국원자력연구소가 수행하던 원자력 사업이 모두 산업체로 이관되었다. 이에 따라 1월 3일에는 한국전력기술(주)의 $\ulcorner$원자로설계개발단$\lrcorner$이, 1월 9일에는 한국전력공사의 $\ulcorner$원자력환경기술원발단$\lrcorner$이 대전 대덕연구 단지에서 각각 개소식 및 개원식을 갖고 업무를 개시하였다. 이번 사업 추진 체제 조정으로 지난 10여년간 논란이 되어 온 우리 나라 원자력 산업계의 구조적인 문제점이 해소되어, 세계무역기구(WTO 출범 등 급변하는 무한경쟁 시대의 세계 무역 환경에 적절히 대응할수 있는 체제로의 전환이 이루어짐으로써, 국내 원자력산업은 국제 경쟁력을 확보할 수 있는 기반을 구축하게 되었다. 원자력 사업 추진 체제 조정 작업의 추진 배경, 추진 경위, 조정 결과 등을 요약$\cdot$정리해 본다.
