ISV's Patent Protection, Downstream Capability and Product Portfolio to Join Platform Ecosystem (독립 SW기업의 플랫폼 생태계 참여 결정요인 연구)

  • This paper is a study to analyze when ISV(independent software company) has more active participation in the platform ecosystem. According to previous studies, companies are active in technological innovation when they can appropriate the outcome of innovation and when they have complementary assets (marketing, manufacturing capabilities, etc.) that can convert the innovation into value. The effect of these two conditions to join platform ecosystem is investigated. The duplication between the ISV's product portfolio and platform service is also included as an independent variable. The two sample groups are composed of independent SW companies that signed a partner agreement with platform companies and non-participating companies in the platform. As a result of empirical study, it is found that the patent rights do not affect participation in the platform. The ISVs might have believed that the benefits from cooperation with platform companies are greater than the risks of exposure to innovative technologies and unique Biz models. On the other hand, downstream's capability and the duplication of product portfolio affect participation in the platform. If ISVs have the downstream capability to transform cooperation into value creation, ISVs are actively participating in the platform. In addition, cooperation is active when the product portfolio is complementary to platform service rather than competition. This study is the empirical study of open innovation between Korean independent software companies and digital platform companies. There are similar prior studies abroad, but there are no similar studies in Korea. It is meaningful in that the determinants of platform ecosystem participation were investigated through empirical analysis by composing a sample group of companies participating in the platform ecosystem and companies not participating in the platform ecosystem.

  • 최근 컴퓨터 기술의 발전과 네트워크의 개방화 그리고 무선 모바일 통신 기술의 비약적인 보급으로 인하여 컴퓨팅 환경을 이루고 있는 각종 장치(PC, 모바일 단말, 저장장치, 네트워크 기기 등)가 다양한 형태의 보안 위협에 노출되어 데이터의 유실, 조작, 유출되어 금전적인 피해를 입거나 프라이버시 침해를 받고 있다. 이러한 문제를 근본적으로 해소하기 위하여 설립된 TCG(Trusted Computing Group)는 세계적인 IT 핵심기업들을 중심으로 구성된 비영리 단체로서 PC 혹은 모바일 기기 등의 단말과 서버 장비 그리고 저장 장치 및 네트워크로 구성된 컴퓨팅 환경에서 보안성 향상 및 데이터의 신뢰성을 제고하기 위하여 TPM(Trusted Platform Module)이라는 반도체 칩을 신뢰의 기반(root of trust)으로 한 신뢰 플랫폼을 제안하고 있다. 한편 SaaS(Software as a Service)는 패키지 형태의 소프트웨어를 네트워크 서비스 형태로 바꾸어 사용량에 비례한 요금제로 과금하는 방식을 채택하고 사용자가 온디맨드로 요청한 서비스를 적시에 제공하는 기술로 최근 전세계적으로 각광을 받고 있다. 이때 다양한 컴퓨팅 환경 안의 사용자에게 높은 신뢰성과 보안성 그리고 연속성을 갖는 SaaS 서비스를 제공하고 데이터의 무결성 및 비밀유지와 정확한 서비스 사용시간을 기록하고 업로드하는 기능들을 제공하는 SaaS 플랫폼은 TPM기반의 신뢰컴퓨팅 기술을 통하여 쉽게 구현될 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 일시적으로 네트워크와 차단된 상태의 PC 혹은 모바일 단말에서도 위의 조건들을 만족하는 SaaS 서비스를 지원하는 신뢰 플랫폼이 가져야 할 기능들에 대하여 분석-도출한 후 그러한 기능들을 제공하는 컴포넌트로 구성된 신뢰형 SaaS 사용자 플랫폼을 설계하였다.

  • The Korean Archaeological Dictionary, which represents Korean archaeological knowledge information, contains refined and high-quality information written by expert collective intelligence. This is a characteristic that clearly distinguishes it from overseas archaeological data archives, and can be called differentiated infrastructure data. However, it has not played a role as an information service or knowledge information platform reflecting the latest digital technology. As a way to maximize these strengths and compensate for weaknesses, it was proposed to develop and operate a GIS-based knowledge and information platform for Korean archaeology. To realize this, it is necessary to develop a title management system centered on repositories and metadata that can collect and store various information, link open linked data design and related systems, develop a search function that can analyze and visualize data in response to the big data era, and establish a WebGIS-based information service system. This will be a platform to continuously manage, supplement, and update Korean archaeological knowledge information, build a ubiquitous environment where anyone can use information anytime, anywhere, and create various types of business models.

  • Virtual router redundancy protocol (VRRP) was designed as a solution to support fast fail-over in case of network failure. There exists virtual router which acts as default gateway in LAN, and the virtual router is dynamically elected between master and backup router. Through this protocol, end-hosts can be provided seamless network service. However, it needs expensive license fees and maintenance costs to adopt current commercial network operating systems. Furthermore, they are commonly enterprise proprietary software and inherently closed source. In order to tackle these problem, Open N2OS which is open source based open network software platform was developed. It has no dependency on hardware equipment, and provides high availability, scalability, various networking functions. In this paper, we handle VRRP operation and mechanism with related command line interface (CLI).

  • Cross platform game has brought about the expansion of game market, which results in technology innovation overcoming the limit of game consumption. The new model integrates both off and online game services. Gamers can now enjoy game service regardless of age, time, and space. If the technology evolution model of digital contents like cross-platform game engine can provide contents for several platform at the same time, the interactive service can be utilized into maximum level. It is also necessary to allocate, switch data as well as to innovate the transmission technology of data according to each platform. Providing the same contents for several platform as many as possible can be the most suitable strategy to enhance the efficiency and profits. However if the interactive service can be accomplished completely, the development of data switching technology and distribution should be made. To be a leader in the next digital contents market, one should develop the network engine technology which can embody the optimization of consumption in the interactive network service.

  • The robot has been widely applied to all parts for the improvement of the life quality of human beings. It is expected that the parts industry for robots is rapidly growing to one of the majority of the future robot industry. The electronic components of robots are connected to the central processing unit and an organic part of a robot system. The central processing unit must be controlled to operate more efficiently by configuring some control systems of the robot. In this paper, we propose a new platform model that centralizes several parts of a robot through the CAN based communication system and simplifies their connection structure.

  • The warming up of the recent competition in the smart phone industry followed by rapid increase of open platforms and app stores have led the mobile terminals to adopt the general purpose operating system. The mobile device utilizing this OS is vulnerable to mobile malignant code which is highly transferable. As a result, the scale of mobile attack and harm increase. However, compared to the malicious code and virus which keep increasing, the elements for security to prevent are insufficient. Therefore, this paper describe about the Context Aware Service that eliminates the potentially risky elements on the smart phone service, which could threaten the usability of the service including invasion of personal information. The proposed system prevents from disclosure of personal information by giving the procedure of information, and realizes the service that is able to change the sequence of identifying the users' information to prepare for emergency.

  • Paradigm shift in government services means the evolution to the service with active participation based on information technology. Opening public information proceeds to an extent that private sector participation can be a basis and driving force, and extends to a stage that free and practical use is possible for private sector. Therefore, the government is preparing for legal and institutional foundation for various fields. The government needs to build open network from user-oriented point of view rather than provider-centric point of view, improve communication, and change the way of working due to the fact that flexible and rapid business process is required. It is time to prepare development plans for public the functions of platform-type government that public sector can participate in the role of government, create new value, and give rise to innovation in order to change the functionality of the government and meet the new needs of citizen. This study tries to analyze platform-type government and to study efficient role allocation for sharing resources including informant and system between the government and the private sector, focusing on innovation of public information sharing.

  • Smart City is the regional innovation platform that actively utilizes information and communication technologies to diversify city services and improve the performance and quality, hence improving the quality of life and creating new trends of urban activities. Recently, the importance of citizen participation is increasingly emphasized to build smart cities successfully and the Living Lab, an open innovation platform led by users, is taking center stage as a means of realizing it. Accordingly, this study aims to establish the plans for popularizing living labs that provide innovative environments for domestic smart cities. To this end, first of all, political trends related to domestic smart cities' living labs were analyzed, and then, individual characteristics and development processes of the relevant cases were investigated. In addition, in-depth interviews were conducted with the experts of specialized agencies from Netherlands, Finland, and Denmark, etc. which are considered as leading countries in smart cities' living labs. As a result, in order to popularize living labs in domestic smart cities, the following policies were proposed; establishing support systems for commercialization and dissemination, building intermediary support organizations, improvement of laws and institutions, establishing the joint response systems with neighboring areas, etc.

  • Opened platform is called that anybody can be a producer and consumer in some platform. And many opened platforms are using in various area such as general goods, smart phone application and contents. In this paper, we will propose the opened platform system for the problems for evaluation the level of learners. Any user can register problems as public or private-type in this system and use them. So our proposed system has the advantage in selecting the high quality problems by continuous reviews about that even after they have been registered. Proposed system has three different modules such as submit, evaluate and produce problems modules. A user can submit various kind of problems in the submit module. The evaluation module is a module that allows the user who is not the problem registrant to evaluate the registered problem. The production module can use the registered problems for online and offline evaluation.
