  • The knowledge of air flow in an engine room has become more and more important in recent car design. The fluid flow in the engine compartment was investigated by numerical analysis. Due to the complex geometry of the engine compartment, mesh generation is a time-consuming job. In this research, the "ICEM" code was used to generate meshes by the Cartesian mesh model. The Reynolds-averaged Navier Stokes equations, together with the porous flow model for radiator and condenser, were solved. Computation was performed for the steady, incompressible, and high speed viscous flow, adopting the standard K-ε turbulence model. The "STAR-CD" code was used as a solver. The effect of car front openning area on the flow in engine room was also investigated.

  • 설치의 법적규제가 없는 수배전반용 개별식 자동소화장치의 경우, 소화약제량 산정시 설계자마다 체적당 소요가스량, 개구부 면적, 개구면적당 가산량을 다르게 적용하여 같은 크기의 panel 인데도 소화약제량이 다르게 산정되는 경우가 있다. 따라서, 본 논문에서는 수배전반 및 전동기 기동반용 개별식 자동소화장치를 위한 청정소화약제량(HFC-227ea)을 산정하기 위해 NFPA, NFSC를 비교분석하여 최적의 소화약 제량 산정식을 도출하였다.

  • Succeding to Report I, to determine the effect of opening conditions and areas of clothes ($10\%,\;20\%,\;30\%,\;40\%$ of total area) on the warmth keeping properties, cooling method was employed by using Latin Square Design, The following results were obtained: 1) The warmth keeping ratio was varied with the opening conditions and the: order was downward, upward, horizontal and up & downward opening 2) The size of opening areas was in inverse proportion to the warmth keeping ratio, 3) In the horizontal opening, the thickness of air layers in clothes did not effect on the warmth keeping ratio.

Effects of Wood Particles and Steel Wire Compositions on Physical and Mechanical Properties of the Boards (목재(木材)파아티클과 철선(鐵線) 복합체(複合體)가 보오드의 물리적(物理的) 및 기계적(機械的) 성질(性質)에 미치는 영향(影響))

  • In order to obtain the basic physical and mechanical properties of steel wire reinforced particleboard, particleboards were formed with large particles through 2.11 mm (12 meshes) and retained on 1.27mm (20 meshes) sieves and small particles through 1.27mm (20 meshes) and retained on 0.42mm (60 meshes) sieves from the plywood mill wastes of meranti (Shorea spp.) in the form of pallmanchips, applying urea-formaldehyde resin as an adhesive on the particle surface in 10 percent on the oven dried weight of particles, and arranging steel wires of 1mm in diameter 5,10,15,20, and 25mm in longitudinal and transverse direction with crossing in the mid of the board depth in single layer boards, 10mm in longitudinal or transverse direction without crossing in two layers and 10mm in longitudinal and transverse directions with and without crossing in three steel wire layers boards. The stepwise 9-minutes-multi-pressing schedule in 5 minutes at 35 kgf/$cm^2$, 2.5 minutes at 25 kgf/$cm^2$. and 1.5 minutes at 15 kgf/$cm^2$ was applied for $300{\times}200{\times}13$mm board at the temperature of 160$^{\circ}C$ in a hot press. Specific gravity, thickness swelling, bending properties of modulus of rupture (MOR), modulus of elasticity(MOE), work to proportional limit, and work to ultimate load, internal bond (IB), and screw holding power(SHP) of the reinforced boards were analyzed on the wire openings and wire layers. The results obtained are summarized as follows; 1) In specific gravity, particleboards with large particles and small particles had higher value with more steel wire placements and more steel layers composition, 2) Particleboards with large particles in accordance with more steel wire liners composition gave very poor thickness swelling. 3) The mechanical properties of particleboards formed with large or small particles were reinforced with more steel wire layers. Therefore, bending strength was improved in modulus of rupture, modulus of elasticity, and work to ultimate load. Especiallv, particleboards with two or three steel wire layers showed the tension lamination effect when the steels in lower steel wire layer were oriented parallel to the board length. 4) The modulus of rupture, modulus of elasticity, and work to ultimate load in bending varied with opening area, distance of lengthwise wires multipled by distance of transverse wires. Particleboards formed with large particles resulted in higher value in modulus of rupture with 1.5-3 $cm^2$ opening area, 1-2cm distance between transverse wires, and 1.5-2.5cm distance between lengthwise wires. Particle boards formed with small particles showed higher value with 0.5-1.5$cm^2$ or 3.75-6.25 $cm^2$ opening area, 0.5 or 2.5cm distance between transverse wires. 5) In modulus of elasticity, particleboards formed with large particles with one steel wire layer suggested higher value with 5-3$cm^2$ opening area, 1-2.5cm distance between transverse wires and also 1-2.5 cm distance between lengthwise wires. Particleboards formed with small particles showed higher value with 0.75-1.25$cm^2$ or 3-6.25$cm^2$ opening area and 0.5 or 2.5cm distance between transverse wires. 6) Particleboards formed with large particles gaved higher value in work to ultimate load with 1-3$cm^2$ opening area. Particleboards formed with small particles showed increasing tendancy with decreasing opening area. 7) In internal bond and screw holding power, particleboards formed with large particles had increasing value in two and three steel wire layers compositions, but particleboards formed with small particles showed no difference. Particleboards formed with large particles containing one steel wire layer showed no difference in internal bond and screw holding power, and particleboards formed with small panicles containing one steel wire layer resulted in increasing value in internal bond and decreasing value in screw holding power in accordance with increase in opening area.

Influence of Openings on the Structural Behavior of Shear Walls with Slabs (슬래브가 있는 전단벽의 구조적 거동에 대한 개구부의 영향)

  • An experimental investigation was conducted with half-scale representations of the reinforced concrete shear walls with the opening subjected to cyclic loads. Specimens were half scale representations of a one-story wall in the apartment built in 1980. The area ratio of the opening section, as well as the size and critical section of coupling slabs, were decided based on results from a previous researches. The test result of WS-0.23 specimen, which has artificial damages to install the opening, the strength of the wall decreased due to the opening. It is apparent that influence of cutting reinforcing bars and decrease of effective section area lead to early first yield of the reinforcing bars before the allowable limit of drift ratio of the shear walls was reached. Therefore, proper reinforcing method is needed to prevent this. The decrease of strength of the shear walls by installation of openings shows a great deal of difference compared to previous researches. This is because flexural capacity of the slabs is working as coupling elements for the shear walls. The critical section of coupling slabs that works as coupling elements for shear walls was a little different from the results of previous researches.

An experimental analysis of the sound reduction characteristics of air transparent noise barriers (통기형 방음벽의 음향감쇠 특성에 대한 실험적 분석)

  • The present study describes the acoustical characteristics of the new noise barriers which can control not only noise but also wind pressure by allowing air flow through barriers. In order to investigate the sound reduction index of the air transparent noise barrier, 17 models in total were examined with various size of openings and the volume of the resonators. As a result, it was found that the sound reduction index varies with the volume of the resonator and the area of the openings. Also, it was revealed that double layer of units has more sound reduction index than the single layer of unit at the frequency band from 400 Hz to 1250 Hz. This denoted that physical features of openings and resonators affect the sound reduction index of the air transparent noise barrier.

  • This study is a basic research in purse seine fishery : on the behaviour of fish schools of tilapia Tilapia mossambica in the process of catch of the purse seine fishing method. The experiment was carried out for the mackerel purse seine which using of power block by fishing fleet system in the near sea of Cheju Island and as a forecast in the near future on the purse seine fishing, using of triplex net winch by one boat system in the near sea of Norway. These model purse seines were made of the scale of 1/180 of its full scale. The model purse seine test on the escaping behaviour of fish school by gap, area reducing of gap and tension of purse line was carried out in the stagnant water of experimental water tank. Designing and testing for the model purse seines were based on the Tauti's law. The results obtained were as follows : 1. When the time for the completing of pursing was 20 minutes, average swimming speed of fish school through a gap was 9.71cm/sec for powerblock seine and 9.97cm/sec for triplex seine. 2. In the case of pursing time in actual value was 20minutes, at 50 percent of the pursing, swimming behaviour of fish school in purse seine was 10% to I section, 80% to II section, 10% to III sectional direction for powerblock seine and a similar tendency for triplex seine. 3. In the case of pursing time in actual value was 20 minutes, at the time of 10 minutes have proceeded since then, area reducing rate of gap of the seine in projected front view was 63.5% for powerblock seine and 67.5% for triplex seine. 4. In the case of pursing time in actual value was 20 minutes, escaping rate of fish school by gap in projected front view was 70% for powerblock seine and 30% for triplex seine. Maximum tension of purse line was about 8.1 tons for powerblock seine and about 8.3 tons for triplex seine.

The Effects of the Area of Openings on the Performance of a $CO_2$ Extinguishing System -The CFD Simulations of the Oil Surface Fire in a Machine Room- (개구부 면적이 $CO_2$ 소화설비의 소화성능에 미치는 영향 -기계실 석유 표면화재의 CFD simulations-)

  • Carbon dioxide($CO_2$) agent, which has more safely extinguished fire than any other gaseous fire extinguishing agents, has been widely used in various protected enclosures and types of fires. According to the concept of performance-based design(PBD). $CO_2$ extinguishing system to be designed is needed to be evaluated for the performance of fire suppression with possible fire scenarios in an enclosure. In this paper, CFD simulations were carried out to study the effects of opening area on the performance of $CO_2$ extinguishing system and the flow characteristics in the machine room of $100m^3$ in which kerosene spill fire happened. This study showed that time of fire suppression increased linearly in proportion to the size of opening area, and fires for each model were completely suppressed prior to the end of discharge of $CO_2$ agent. It was shown that mass flow rate through opening was influenced by the combined effects of heat release rate of fire and discharge of $CO_2$ agent. After $CO_2$ agent was completely discharged, oxygen concentrations in enclosures for each model were lower than the limit concentration of combustion.

Development of Vegetable Soybeans Thresher(II) - Threshing and sorting characteristic - (풋콩 탈협기 개발을 위한 기초 연구(II) - 탈협 및 선별 특성 -)

  • 본 연구는 풋콩 탈협기 개발을 위한 기초연구로서 풋콩 탈협기의 급치를 교환할 수 있고, 급동의 주속도와 송풍팬의 회전속도 및 공기 흡입구의 개구면적을 조절할 수 있는 실험장치를 제작하고, 급치의 종류가 풋콩의 탈협 및 손상에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 또한 송풍팬의 회전속도와 흡입 공기구의 개구비 변화 따른 선별 성능을 분석하였다. 그 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1 급치의 종류에 따른 풋콩의 미 탈협율은 철선 급치가 최대 1.6%, 최소 0.0%,평균 0.7%로서 가장 낮게 나타났고, 그 다음이 경도 60의 고무제 급치로서 최대 2.0%, 최소 0.0% 평균 1.1%, 경도 80의 고무제 급치는 최대 2.5%, 최소 0.0% 평균 1.7% 순으로 높아졌다. 또한 풋콩의 미탈협율은 급동 원주속도가 18m/s에서 55m/s로 증가할수록 감소하였다. 이는 급동의 원주 속도가 증가함에 따라 급치의 선단이 풋콩 꼬투리에 가하는 타격력이 증가하기 때문인 것으로 생각된다. 2. 급치의 종류에 따른 풋콩의 손상율은 경도 80의 고무제 급치는 최대 5.2%, 최소 1.3%, 평균 2.8%로서 가장 낮게 나타났고, 그 다음이 경도 60의 고무제 급치로서 최대 5.7%, 최소 2.4% 평균 3.8%, 철선 급치는 최대 6.3%, 최소 2.6% 평균 4.2% 순으로 높아졌다. 또한 풋콩의 손상율은 급동 원주속도가 증가할수록 풋콩 꼬투리의 손상율은 증가하였다. 이 또한 급등의 원주 속도가 증가함에 따라 급치의 선단이 풋콩 꼬투리에 가하는 타격력이 증가하기 때문인 것으로 생각된다. 3. 공기흡입구의 개구면적을 증가시킬수록 선별율은 높게 나타났으나 개구비가 60%이상에서는 선별율이 크게 차이가 나지 않았으며, 송풍팬의 원주속도를 높일수록 선별율은 높게 나타났다.도 콤바인이 직선구간 및 선회구간을 주행하며 수확작업이 가능함을 알 수 있었다. 그러나 곡선구간에서는 최대오차가 65.5 cm로 매우 크게 나타나, 콤바인을 무인 자율주행으로 수확하기에는 어려움이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 실제 포장은 이론적인 완전한 직선보다는 작은 굴곡이 있는 곡선의 형태가 이루어져 있으므로 주행 오차를 감소하기 위해서는 기계시각을 이용하면 보다 정밀한 조향을 이룰 수 있을 것으로 예상된다. 포장에서 DGPS 신호, 자이로 센서 등을 이용한 콤바인의 무인주행 장치는 무인 수확작업을 위한 가능성을 보여주었고, 일부의 센서의 기능을 개선하면 만족한 성능을 나타낼 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.dislocations form local defect arrangements at the grooves permitting the substantial reduction in defect density over the remainder of the interfacial area.한 최대의 감자 재배지역을 형성하였다. 제주도는 산지지형과 따뜻한 기온으로 2기작이 가능하고, 감자가공 공장설립과 교통발달에 따른 육지 시장과의 접근이 용이해졌기 때문에 남한에서 2번째로 큰 감자재배지역이 되었다.(요약 및 결론에서 발췌)그람양성균에서 효과적이었으며, 농도별 항균력시험 결과 농도가 증가할수록 비례하여 저해율도 증가함을 알 수 있었다. 첨가농도를 달리하여 미생물의 생육도를 측정한 결과, fraction II磎꼭\ulcorner경우 그람양성균에 대해 500 ppm 이상에서 뚜렷한 증식억제효과를 나타내었다.서 뚜렷한 증식억제효과를 나타내었다.min/+}$계 수컷 이형접합체 형질전환 마우스에 AIN-76A 정제사료만을 투여한 대조군은 1.40$\pm$
